I'm sorry to hear this. My baby was in the NICU for 2 weeks when born a month premature and I cried every day for most of the day. In other words, I empathize. Most NICUs have a free-to-stay parental suite. The hospital where I am does, here in Ontario, Canada. The room was cold and the bed was very uncomfortable, but it was possible to stay. Depending on who was working at the time, while I stayed there, another couple stayed with their baby and none of the nurses (that I know of) bothered them. I know they stayed with their baby in the NICU for at least 2 days straight. As this is months since this posting, I do hope that everything worked out well
