Pregnancy Spotlight: Pillows/Sleep Gear

Each week we'll spotlight a new category of product. Feel free to comment on threads like these throughout your time at the board. This week it's Pillows/Sleep Gear. I've definitely seen some mentions of sleeping struggles already on other threads, so let's get those recommendations going!

FTMs are encouraged to ask questions & STM/+s encouraged to share their knowledge based on experience.

For all...
Any pillows you're using/considering?
STMs....
Did you use a pregnancy pillow last time? Any reccomendations?

Re: Pregnancy Spotlight: Pillows/Sleep Gear

  • All large body pillows were helpful for me, but as the pregnancies progressed I got more and more pillows.  I think eventually I was sleeping propped up on my back with both of my legs supported.  It gets SO hard to sleep by the end.  If anyone has any recs I will be glad to hear.

  • I love the big huge full U body pillows! Literally my favorite part of pregnancy, aside from getting a baby at the end!

  • I used a bunch of extra normal pillows to get comfortable during my first pregnancy. But I'm definitely thinking I'm going to need a better solution this time. I was thinking of getting one of the U shaped body pillows. Anyone know of a specific brand they've really liked?
  • I bought a long pillow (basically pregnancy pillow but without the U shape) and pillowcase for $25 at Bed Bath and Beyond last time, and it worked pretty well for me!
  • Snoogle!!  It supports in ALL the right places and you can move it around you as needed.  It saved me for my first 2, but makes snuggling w/ hubby hard if thats an issue for you.
So far this time nothing special yet, but we recently upgraded to purple mattress and pillows so I'm curious to see how it goes as I progress.
  • @themrsjacoby funny, I have a snoogle this time and I'm meh. I didn't do anything for my first 3, but I've been hoping to score a wedge type at a discount/second hand. I may just cave and buy one for full retail/new.

  • I’m also super curious about pillows. I’m only 6w but already looking at options. I’m nervous because my husband and I are pretty tall and already have limited space in our queen size bed with me taking up a lot of room since I can’t fall asleep unless I’m sprawled out lol (sorry husband). I’m nervous there won’t be enough room for a large body pillow in our bed or we’ll both get too hot with it in bed. I also wouldn’t want to spend a ton of money and some of the cheaper ones I’ve found on Amazon have questionable chemicals in them I’m not comfortable using while pregnant.
  • I just bought a PharMeDoc u-shaped pillow on Amazon. I tried it for the first time last night and I love it already. It's in a cooling cover so I didn't get to warm and it really doesn't seem to take up too much space.
  • @sburgh23 take it from me, a ttm, you are going to want a king size bed if you possibly can.  I resisted so hard, but now that both kids crawl into our bed and I am going to have a big pillow fort to sleep comfortably I am so glad we have a king.
  • Snoogle for my first, but didn’t cut it for me with the second. I switched to a pillow that was kind of a cross between a wedge and a boppy. That worked for awhile, and the bigger I got I just kept adding more pillows. By the time I was was 8 months pregnant, I would make myself a nest of about 6 pillows every night. 😂
