𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I found out another woman at work is pregnant, due 3 weeks before me. We are good friends and it’s going to be fun to have someone to be pregnant with again (I had my SIL and another close friend last time). Sucks for our firm though haha. Oh well!

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Today I had my NT Scan and Thursday I have an OB check in

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: I am SO relieved to have had my scan this morning and seen little babe doing okay - he/she was moving around with a good HB. This was the longest I had gone without a scan so it gave me so much reassurance. Physically, things are definitely improving, but I have periods of just feeling so shitty. Letting myself rest and giving myself some grace.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I actually feel so lucky to have had a 30 minute scan today and had so much time to watch this little alien inside of me! I cannot believe how much it already looks like and moves like a human, how crazy is that?

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Has anyone had dental work done early on in pregnancy? I think I will need to get a crown on my tooth in a couple of weeks. My OB said it would be fine, but I already get bad dental pain/anxiety and I'm a little nervous about the entire thing.

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: Place all Oscars (or anti-Oscars) commentary here! I watched the first hour and a half, and then heard about the Will Smith debacle as I was falling to sleep. I haven't seen most of the movies nominated, so I feel a bit out of the loop!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: My work has been requiring overtime. Even though I work from home, I’m so exhausted that adding more on to my 40 hour work week is too much. I haven’t told my manager yet and was going to wait until after my next appointment.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: There are so many, but they are for my maternal fetal medicine provider to answer.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Still struggling with food aversions, but nausea is down significantly (not gone). Feeling a bit low from family health situation that I shared in weekly randoms. Semester is almost over so it's crunch time to get some essays done.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave: I had such a smooth appointment for my first trimester screen! Called in right away, everyone I dealt with was absolutely lovely, and no immediate red flags. Rant: Since it was on a Friday at end of day it's taking a hot minute for my results to load and I think my anxiety about my Mum has me desperate to read through my reports, even tjough I'm not at all expecting anything concerning. Hopefully not much longer

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: Place all Oscars (or anti-Oscars) commentary here! I've been thrilled with Ariana DeBose's win streak this awards season and feel it is not only so deserved but also a major milestone for representation. Also her decision to wear that jumpsuit and cape situation is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

As for the Will Smith Chris Rock situation, what broke me was Jada's face when the joke was said. From genuinely appreciating the performance to registering that low blow. Not one to condone violence, but if someone I loved dearly had the result of a deeply personal struggle publicly shamed I would have been reactive too.

@sandy5693 so glad you had a great scan! That’s so long! I’m kind of bummed that I wasn’t offered the NT scan this time because I’m old.

@jen_third22 oof, triplets. That’s crazy. There’s someone on the August (I think) BMB pregnant with spontaneous quads. I don’t blame you for being in shock!! I don’t think I got a chance to reply when you first posted about them but I’m excited to be on this journey with you!

@k@krthouse I hope you have gotten your results by now or you do soon! I’m glad you had a good appointment! Edit - just saw your post in the other thread. That’s great! I had an anterior placenta with DD and I still felt kicks, just took longer to start feeling them, but I do feel like they were never as strong as some people talk about. However, DD was not extremely active in the womb either so it might have just been her.

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: April 8. 14 weeks seemed really late for the next appointment, but my doctor is on vacation this week. 😕

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Nausea is mostly gone, appetite is back, fatigue is getting better. I had a very emotional day last week where I was crying for no reason, but that was the first and only time I’ve had that happen. I notice I’m constipated on the days I don’t get 100+ oz of water in, but otherwise I’m feeling mostly back to normal.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I need winter to be done! My jeans and cold weather pants are getting uncomfortable, and I don’t want to get any maternity stuff that’s winter since it’ll be all warm weather while I’m huge. Looking forward to spring and flowy dresses to get me through the awkward too-big-for-normal-clothes-but-too-small-for-maternity-clothes phase!!

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Anyone else feeling anxious because symptoms are disappearing, but it’s too early to show and you don’t have another appointment for a while??

I forgot it was even happening and fell asleep early. I don’t really care about award shows in general…though I read something about Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli that was really sweet!

@sandy5693 I have debilitating dental anxiety, too, and normally need gas for a cleaning. Since gas isn’t allowed during pregnancy they gave me headphones and Netflix and I just white-knuckled it. I assume that Novocaine and stuff are ok for pregnancy, right? Is that what they would give you?
@jen_third22 I’m sorry about all the overtime! That’s the last thing you need.

@krthouse saw your update on results elsewhere and am so happy they are good!
@nerdymom22 I’ve decided I’m done with winter and have been refusing to wear coats in defiance. Meanwhile it’s in the 30s. 🤦‍♀️

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Energy is definitely better upon entering 2nd trimester. I am also more emotional. My rest intervals are the EXACT SAME which is fascinating and inconvenient. I started walking 4 miles total with doggo again and forgot that exercising more will also mean eating more and so I got aggressively nausea-hungry - which is the only nausea I have left - and yelled at my husband to get leftover potato chips and dip out immediately out of absolute desperation. It was PRIMAL, y’all.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I love that I can enjoy my walks again. I definitely hate that I’m back at work and that I changed my daily rhythm during spring break and it is definitely biting me in the ass now that I have to get up at 5:30 again.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: I asked this in September too. My husband asked if I want to ask my parents (who are in Sweden and in their 70s and have not done this or shown any indication of wanting to do this) if they want to come stay in the US for a couple months once the baby comes. Is this an American thing? It feels very American to me.

@pangolindrome Not just an Amercian thing, but also not an everywhere thing. My MIL intended to take a week or two off to come help with DS when he was born until lockdowns ruined that plan. My SIL's parents went out to Germany where she was living for the month following her having twins. My own Mum is not great with babies and wanted to help hut didn't really help. She never would have thought to move in with us to help out. In some cultures it's assumed the birthing parent's family will come help out, in US and Canada it's very case by case but people often assume the grandparents are going to help.

Thank you for the thorough response. Maybe it’s a thing in some Swedish families too and I’m sure my parents will want to come visit for a week or two, but a couple of months… brrrh. That’s not attractive to any of us.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: nausea is still lingering. I have good days and bad days. Dr asked if I wanted her to prescribe anything, but I feel like we’re so close to the end of it, so I’m just gonna soldier on…maybe that was a mistake 😅

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: So I live far away from my family, who I miss, but I do really like not having to worry about stuff like people randomly visiting. My mom is giving me hard anxiety because she’s insisting on visiting me during the summer…and staying with us in our 2-bedroom apartment. Like, I’d rather you not! Im gonna be pregnant with a toddler and the last thing I want to do is deep clean my house and play tour guide! 😫

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Pretty good overall! I feel so much better than I did a couple weeks ago. I am even more sensitive to smells though, and am having pelvic floor issues (see rant below). But I’ll take it!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I haven’t been able to run for the last several weeks because I will pee 😔 it’s such a bummer! I don’t know wth is going on with my pelvic floor—it is either a mild uterine prolapse or a cystocele—but I’m hoping to get an appointment with a specialist soon. Running is such an outlet for me so I really want to make it work.

@nerdymom22 fading symptoms has me anxious too, I can’t wait to be able to feel the baby move to have more reassurance between appointments.

@pangolindrome maybe it’s common in America because families get more spread out? So like any of my friends who have parents in driving distance didn’t have their parents come to stay with them but if they were a flight away they did. It is nice to have help but I like my helpers to sleep somewhere else haha

@reirei09 I hope you can at least convince your mom to get a hotel so you can get a break when she visits! And maybe she would be helpful with the toddler? Or maybe not haha

@merostomata I’m glad you are looking into getting an appointment, I hope you are able to get one soon! I have been doing bad with exercising but I would be really frustrated if I physically couldn’t so I hope you are able to soon!
