I had a Spectra S2 last time but I think I’m going to get a Spectra Gold if I can. It’s still not cordless (which is not important to me) but it has two motors so you can set different strengths for different sides to accommodate different outputs or a slacker boob lol
I had a medela pump in style with my first and hated it after 3 months. It was so rough! I switched to Spectra and never looked back. IS1 (the blue one) is the same as S2 (the pink one) except S1 has a built in rechargeable battery so it's more portable. S2 requires to be plugged into an outlet. Their new gold one is nice that is allows to adjust each side's settings while pumping, but it doesn't have a built in battery so it can't be used on the go. I was looking to upgrade to that one this time.

I loved my Spectra S2 last time, but I want to try something like the Willow this time around. I also will invest in a manual pump. I will likely still use my Spectra as it's tried and true, but I want to have a few different options since pumping is not necessarily my favorite and variety is the spice of life.
I had the medela pump in style advanced for my first and I wasn’t that impressed. will be using that as a back up pump. Looking at getting the elvie stride through insurance for this baby.
Question for the group - how important is the capability to set the sides individually as the Spectra Gold allows for? I have no idea if this is one of those novelty features or if it’s a common need worth spending the money on.
@pinkkillersheep like most baby related stuff, I think in my mind this would be a useful feature but in actual practice I would never use it. Maybe if I had a clogged duct, but I’m that case I’m usually only pumping one side anyway.
@pinkkillersheep I think it’s one of those things that if you need it it’s great, but there’s a fair chance you won’t need it. I’m going for it this time because I had drastically different outputs from side to side last time so I’m hoping this will help. But if it was my first rodeo, I wouldn’t know that and wouldn’t think twice about having two motors. I don’t think it’s a novelty feature, but it’s one that’s closer to hospital grade pumps. So if you have a NICU baby or multiples then you might get used to or need something at a higher level. But there’s also a chance that it would be overkill for your situation. Like so many things with buying for babies, it’s a crapshoot.
@pinkkillersheep I would have liked to have that feature the first time around as my output was different and I had to squeeze the lower producing side while pumping. Second time around I didn't really need it. I would only get that pump now if it was portable and had a rechargeable battery. But it's a plug in the wall type so I will be passing on it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! My sister has a Spectra S1 she barely used since COVID hit right around when she went back to work after her second kid. Just wasn’t sure if it was worth spending extra money to get the upgraded model. I’ll go with no for now and see what happens.
I really liked the Medela one that I would take to work. It was inside a nice bag and came with a little bag and ice pack to store the bottles. I bought it at Target, but can't find it on the website anymore.
