1st Trimester

Sunburn at 9 weeks pregnant

Hi! It was a beautiful day yesterday and I thought laying out to get some sun and vitamin d would be a good idea. I usually don’t sunburn easily but a few hours later I developed a sunburn. I was well hydrated the entire time and never felt bad but now I’m reading sunburns during the first trimester are not safe and I am freaking out and feeling so guilty! Has anyone else dealt with this? Will the baby be okay? ):

  • Sunburns at any point in your life are not considered safe from a skin cancer perspective, but I doubt they would hurt the baby besides it might dehydrate you. Your skin could be more sensitive to the sun while pregnancy, so make sure to put on sunscreen next time.

  • Agree w/ meggyme! Just be careful for now on!
  • You’re fine, get some of that green gel aloe and other up, it will fade in a day or two. I am fair skinned and get at least 1 burn a year, despite using sunblock. I just got burned a couple weeks ago at 17 weeks pregnant and had my AS. Baby is good and unaffected.
