Frequent braxton at 26 weeks!

Hi fellow mamas,
FTM , 26w5d
Experiencing Braxton since last week & I have noticed my contractions go up later in the day. My water intake has been great upto 3L but I think my contractions are very frequent. At least 10-12 in a day - is that normal?
They do go away within 10-15 secs & sometimes emptying my bladder helps, sometimes drinking water does, sitting after standing or standing after sitting...
I don't know why they are so frequent after every meal or snack though.

When I asked my nurse, she said she'd be only concerned if they are more than 5 in an hour or if the pain is unbearable or if I have any of the bleeding, heavy discharge symptoms.

Just need your help to calm my nerves down!
Thank you!!!

  • A few weeks ago I was having them about once an hour and asked my ob about it. She wasn’t aware of there being any amount that is concerning, provided I knew it wasn’t pre-term labor. It’s gotten better since I increased my water intake.

Your nurse’s guidance sounds right to me. If it’s going away quickly, that seems like an indication it isn’t pre-term labor. That said, always advocate for yourself and if you feel something is wrong then keep contacting your ob.
  • @pinkkillersheep Thanks mama! I think it has gotten better since upping my water intake. I think it was stress as well - we have so.many things to do for the nursery etc n I was over exherting myself. So taking it slow has helped.
But again, thank you so much for your response! ♥️
  • I’m here to say I started having Braxton hicks with both my pregnancies starting around 16 weeks. I am 28 weeks now with my second and still get them everyday. I drink lots of water and I’m not an exercise mama, but I am always on the go. It doesn’t matter what I do I get like 20 a day.
Main triggers are when my bladder is full, post sex and on some days when I feel my water intake wasn’t the greatest. Other triggers are just moving positions, sitting, standing and or laying down! My doc said the same thing as yours about no more than 5 and not painful.
It’s such a weird feeling isn’t it? I asked if it hurts the baby at all because it seems like the walls would be caving in on them 😉
