Re: GTKY - 3/1

  • I’m a recruiter so I’m on the phone all day long, but I HATE talking on the phone in real life. If you’re a real friend you’ll either text me or see me in person. FaceTime doesn’t bother me, but god do I hate a phone call. Always have 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • I can’t stand seafood. I want to like it and I’ve tried it multiple times, but don’t like any of it.
  • I'm not that interesting but I am ambidextrous!
  • I'm not interesting, but I'll go with no one would believe my husband is 12 years older than me. When I brought him home to meet my family I was 21 and he was 33. My mom laughed and said no he's not that old. The guy I dated before him was 5 years older and she thought he was too old for me, but didn't believe my husband (then boyfriend) was 12 years older.
  • I was a tiny kid who always looked younger than I was. When I was 9 or 10 I was in a play and one of the parents in the audience got the idea of hiring me for magazine photoshoots. He was supposed to find a 6 year old for a shoot, but he knew they wouldn't listen or sit still. It was kind of fun, and I earned a little bit of money and bought my first horseback riding saddle.

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • @laj0217 I love seafood. Mostly new England seafood I guess, lobster, haddock, clams, scallops, mussels. Not a fan of sushi, salmon or swordfish which most people love.

@lucyg00cy who enjoys talking on the phone? I can't stand it.
  • @jhysmath yep, I won’t eat any of those lol. I even lost a $50 bet as a kid because I couldn’t keep a shrimp down for 10 minutes.
  • I lived in India for 6 months back in 1999.  I miss it so much!

  • Butterflies and moths petrify me.
  • I used to be a complete pop punk emo kid high school through college. Shows every week, clothes and hair to match - thankfully no photo evidence that I know of.

Still love the music but people are often pretty surprised it’s what I’m into bc I don’t ‘fit the part’.
  • @kboydbowman that is awesome. I’d love to go to India one day. What part?

@jhysmath seriously!! I’m like let’s just hangout or text 😂

@laj0217 i can understand that- while i love seafood I really only do if it doesn’t look like seafood and preferably if it’s fried. I tried an oyster on the shell once and threw up at the table so I won’t do that again.

  • @lucyg00cy I was in Baroda, which is now called Vadodara. It's in the state of Gujarat. I also got to travel around the country for about 3 weeks during the Diwali holiday. My mother also came over. We went to Bombay, Jaipur, Agra, New Delhi, and some of the caves in Southern India. I also got to spend about a week in Goa during another school break.

  • @laj0217 I LOVE seafood. We are so spoiled over here in Seattle with some of the best, but I’ve never been to the east coast (outside of FL but that doesn’t count haha) and I can’t wait to go and get some New England fish!

@mamamoomoo12 I hate moths. They give me the creeps but I don’t mind butterflies!

I’m not much of a drinker. My best friend and husband are both the life of every party and I’ve gone along with it for the last like, 7 years haha but this no-drinking thing during pregnancy is amazing. I don’t miss it or the social drinking 🤷🏼‍♀️

I went to Vietnam for my honeymoon in 2018. My husband and I got a motorbike and rode from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Hanoi and then in a loop of the entire north of the country near border with China. The unbelievable part: we were hit by a taxi that was merging on Hwy 1. We were in the right lane and the entrance to the Hwy was hidden by thick brush…there the taxi merged without seeing us on the motorbike. We were traveling around 50k/hr (30 mpr) and flipped over the front end. My husband had some minor injuries (scrapes, broken toes). Since I’m such an avid knitter, I was wearing a backpack which happened to have a bunch of yarn. I landed on my back…fairly soft landing on said backpack full of yarn. I walked away unscathed. So… in short, I was spared motorcycle crash injuries due to my knitting habit. 😂

In all seriousness, a second before I hit pavement I thought I might die. We were extremely fortunate. The adrenaline from the crash had us on our feet and on the side of the Hwy immediately after the crash and we were immediately so grateful we were both fine. The taxi just had a bent fender (and an impatient client who was on his way again in just a few minutes). People were super nice and helpful (and very surprised to see us okay) after the crash. The front end of our motorbike was rebuilt overnight for about $75 USD. My husband and I talk about the crash about every 3-6 months and still can’t believe how lucky we are. Gratitude for life for how the incident turned out.
  • @momsicle2be wow, what an incredible story! I’m glad you both are okay. 💚 hobbies save lives!
  • @whitta1015 I'm ambidextrous too! Do you use both hands equally or do you have favorites for wiping, eating, throwing etc? I didn't know that it wasn't normal to write with both hands until I broke my right arm in 6th grade and everyone was wondering how I would write. I was like "umm...I'll just use my other hand..?" 😂 I'm a bit slow to catch on sometimes
@mamamoomoo12 butterflies are ok, moths are NASTY! I used to get them in my room on summer evenings and it was terrifying trying to go to sleep and I could hear it flapping around🤢

@lucyg00cy saaaame about hating the phone! I live on phones and 2-way radios my whole working career & I refuse to answer personal phone calls 😂

@dsmith211 same about being an emo kid. There is definitely photographic evidence. There is a guy on tiktok that re-enacts the cringiest parts of scene kid behaviours and it’s soo funny 😂😂😂

Mine isn’t interesting but hard to believe for those that meet me now. To paint the picture I currently weigh 265lb and have chronic lung condition that means I get puffed just walking. The unbelievable thing is that I used to be addicted to exercise to a point it was unhealthy. I played representative netball, I did Irish dancing and competed at a national level which meant I had to practice 10+ hours a week outside of my 10hrs a week of classes, and I also used to be in the gym 5+ days a week - all at the same time.
  • @kboydbowman nothing compares to Indian food in India. So freaking good.

@momsicle2be wow, you got very lucky! I LOVE vietnam - it's so beautiful!! It's one of my favorite places on earth.

I am terrified of heights (won't go on roller coasters, afraid of hiking on skinny paths that are high up, I even get anxious driving over bridges lol), but I went skydiving when I was in college.
  • @theblondebump
Roller coasters are one of the few heights I can do, because my fear of heights is the "weird" kind where it's not the height, it's that I am afraid I am suddenly going to feel an irresistible urge to jump off the height.  Not suicidal, never have been, but there is this compulsive feeling when I am around open heights.  Even open height shots in TV and movies make my stomach lurch.  The skydiving would be a no go for me because the fear would be that I would feel compelled to jump without a chute.  It's weird, I know.  But apparently I'm not the only one with this variation of the height phobia.

  • @babywiik Fun!! It's funny, anything I do with my hand/fingers, I like to do with my left hand so like....writing, eating with a fork/spoon, etc.. And anything I do with my full arm, I like to do with my right hand...like throwing a ball, batting, etc. I can do most stuff with both, but those are the ways I'm most comfortable.
Now that you say "wiping", I honestly have no idea which hand I use. I think whichever side of me the toilet paper roll is on hahaha  :D

@dsmith211 I definitely was too! We always went to "shows". I even played drums. I'm really glad social media wasn't a thing back then (other than Myspace...which is long gone).
  • @momsicle2be wow, amazing story! I'm glad you were okay. There was a bizarre accident in our town when I was younger where a woman's knitting habit nearly killed her. It's fun to hear about the opposite happening!

@wiseh Irish dancing is a heck of a workout! I can't imagine doing that *plus* other forms of exercise. I'm sorry to hear exercise has been a challenge in your life, it's so easy to do things to extreme when they feel important to us.

@kboydbowman I haven't ever heard of that form of fear of heights! I used to love heights until I fell off a scaffold...no injuries, but I started to get vertigo after that. I have always hated roller coasters, not sure why.
