Just announced to the staff at my school. I know this is common, but WHY is this common?! A staff member comes up to me and goes: "I saw you from the side last week and I was wondering when this announcement was coming." Like umm...excuse me!!! Do you just go up to anyone and say "I think you have been getting fat". I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but STOP COMMENTING ON WOMENS BODIES REGARDLESS IF THEY ARE PREGNANT OR NOT. WTF!
Also, I hardly feel like I'm showing. Guess it's just me...

Heading into the new year, let’s all flip the script. My husband talked me into doing a road trip to go back to see his family in Indiana for the week. Realistically it makes sense because we are pregnant with quadruplets so the next time we can do the 9 hour drive is going to be awhile. But between our 4 and 6 year olds couped up in the car and the husbands attitude with the kids couped up in the car I'm about to ride the rest of the way on the damn roof.
@mdfarmchick YES to all of this! Last year, I got married and I obviously wanted to look my best on my wedding day. My fiance at the time spent many hours working out and obviously I got toned and skinnier. They even commented on it then! "Getting skinny for the big day?" No, I want to be a healthier verison of me and it's time for my future spouse and I to do something we enjoy together. UGH.
@mdfarmchick I love that. TW** I was honestly super self conscious about my stomach after my loss and d&c. I was showing, I was 13 weeks so it was out there. And it never went away. I wore the baggiest stuff I could find because I was so worried that someone would ask me or hint around. And then it made me mad that I had to do that. Not about my weight, but like 2 weeks after my d&c, someone I had just met made a comment like, “wow, 4 kids in 4 years. Geeze, are you just going to keep popping them out?” It was just devastating. This is the reason I won’t announce on fb until the baby is born. I’m not going to explain my loss and I know I’ll get a lot of comments that I just cannot deal with right now.

@and_peggy that’s exactly how I felt and dealt with having mine with our 11 week loss. We ended up posting the loss on Facebook because my oldest was literally walking around talking about his dead baby and I wanted to have some space to not have to tell the story to every person we came in contact with randomly for the next months. We had back to back losses and I never told anyone about the second loss, other than our families, and then we got pregnant with #3 and I didn’t announce on Facebook until 20 weeks and only because MH really wanted it. He said he felt it was important to celebrate this kid too and I guess he was right but I loved having masks and hiding my pregnancy because I just didn’t want to deal with any people. In some ways we are fortunate that we don’t live near family/our hometowns because we don’t have to deal with as many comments about “oh four huh?” or “so you are trying for a girl still?” Living in a major city does prevent some of the random people commenting things. All the comments make me mad.
@Karissa764 one pro tip… noise canceling headphones. I now take them on every road trip for when the kids are getting on my very last nerve. Worth every penny.
@mdfarmchick yep totally get all that. I think ill be able to better handle the 4000 times someone says, “oh look you have enough to have a basketball team” comment when I’m holding the baby in my arms. I would say most people are genuinely excited, but sometimes people just don’t know to respond to those who’ve choose a different lifestyle than them.
@brittanynmorris a doctor I work with told me she thought it was going to be a girl because she noticed my acne. Sweet thanks, that makes these pimples so much better. Ugh. People suck.

Well my wtf seems petty now, but I bought ds1 6 foil balloons for his birthday and walked out of the store and one (the Mickey one he really wanted obviously) came off the string and blew away. 😑
@paytonpedro Even this is not okay!! I'm loving @and_peggy 's motto of "When in doubt, shut your mouth!!" And also didn't we all learn that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?

@mdfarmchick by doctor I mean veterinarian, so it’s not even like it was mentioned with a remedy or something in mind. 😑 It caught me so off guard I was just like “yeah haha” 😑😑😑
The only thing that stopped ds1 from spiraling, today is also my grandfathers birthday, who passed away before he was born. We were really close and I’m very close to my grandma, so my grandpa gets brought up all the time. Ds1 wanted to send balloons up to heaven for “grandpa Steve”, which he came up with all on his own, but I told him no because obviously the environment. Well when the balloon flew off, I was like “Oh I guess that one is for grandpa Steve!” He was still sad it was the Mickey one, but is over it now.
My WTF a day late is that my husband stole my pregnancy pillow from me last night. Tuesday night we were cuddling and he must have found a good position and was able to use part of it that night, so last night he goes to do the same thing, but asked me to adjust the pillow so that he had some too. Then at some point I woke up and realized he had more of the pillow than I did.
@paytonpedro disappointing that the balloon flew away, but great save and such a sweet way to turn the day around. Hope the rest of his birthday was as special as that moment.
@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 MH hates my pregnancy pillow because it takes up so much room, but I'm pretty sure that when I leave for work, he grabs it and uses it.
Hb a wtf Thursday? My dentist couldn’t get me in until the end of March, so I got in with a (very expensive) dentist this morning for a filling I lost on Monday. They couldn’t do anything today because it’s so close to the root and I’m at a 50/50 chance I’m going to need a $1700 root canal 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 what the actual F***. Literally sobbing.
@paytonpedro that is the worst. I’m so sorry. FWIW whenever I’ve been faced with that situation I tell them to try the filling anyway and if doesn’t work for me I’ll come back. I have some very large fillings bc of it.
@paytonpedro oh no! I'm so sorry. That is a ridiculous price for a root canal (pretty sure I paid less to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed last year). Any option to do the filling first? Or see if you can schedule the root canal with your regular dentist?
Sorry to leave you guys hanging. I was really worked up about it.
The plan they had was to clean up the new cavity and then see if they could fill it. If it was too close to the root, then they would have to do the root canal. I called my regular dentist and it would be significantly cheaper but they couldn’t get me in until 3/30. And honestly, he did all these filling that are falling out so I’m not completely sure I trust him that much anymore.
I called another place as well and they can get me in for a consult and to possibly fix the filling on the 16th (I’ll be out of town 3/2-3/12), the day after I made an appt with the other place. So I’m thinking I’ll cancel with the expensive place and see what this other place will charge me. I asked her for a quote and she said she would have to get back to me (the newer place).
This is all so stressful for me but to make it worse, I hate mouthes. I hate teeth. I have a horrible gag reflux. And I hate this whole situation. I would have rather went streaking for a 5k in the 25 degree weather we have.

@paytonpedro uugghhh dentistry stuff is always so stressful! I'm so sorry. Are you in pain at all? That makes it so much worse. I hate how expensive this necessary work is! Makes it inaccessible to so many people.
@brittanynmorris glad someone else is annoyed about the belly size comments. My MIL makes them constantly and I wanna clobber her through the phone. I send bump pics to our family group chat and she always says "WOW you're getting BIG BIG BIG." Um stop please? No matter how far along a pregnant woman is, she never wants to hear that. Ever. I'm 16 weeks and feel like I'm very normal sized for 16 weeks. Even my doc says it's a small bump. I wanna scream at her "I'm not BIG! You have no idea what BIG is, do you?! SHUT UP." That might be my hormones but still...stop commenting on women's bodies!!!
@starkette@brittanynmorris absolutely! Size or weight. Had my mom over for dinner on Sunday and she was commenting on my letter board that I've been updating with the baby's estimated size and my cravings (which admittedly are sometimes more of what I'm eating that week not exactly cravings). So far I've listed a lot of junk food, like Doritos and Oreos, so my mom commented about how I should try to keep weight gain at a minimum. My mom has always been very slim, and she told me she only gained 19 pounds with both of her pregnancies. I told her despite the added junk food to my diet and belly growth, I actually haven't gained anything since the first few weeks. I started thinking about it more, but 19 pounds is a good bit under what is recommended for someone her size. My sister and I were both healthy babies in the end, I was about 6.5lbs, but she was about 4.5lbs. Anyway, people, including parents, should not be commenting on our size or weight gain. Every pregnancy is different.
@starkette no pain thank God!! Maybe a tiny bit sensitive, but no pain at all. Mostly just annoying and I can’t chew on that side, which is my dominant chewing side.
@paytonpedro with you on the hating mouths and teeth thing. Hopefully you can just get by with the filling! Pro tip, shared with me by my favorite hygienist ever: get nitrous if you can. I dunno if it pregnancy safe, but it’s WORTH IT to not have an anxiety attack in the dentist chair, and it helps with my gag reflex too.
I too have a WTF Thursday. I think I’ve mentioned about my devil car. I’ve been trying to remember to video it doing the devil thing since December and have failed to do so… until today when the starter just flat-out died when I was going to lunch. I had to have the cursed thing towed to the Honda dealership. And then, after the tow truck got there, MH finally texted me back and said “call the insurance, they’ll get roadside assistance to tow it to Honda.” Which would have saved me whatever the tow is adding to the repair bill, if I’d remembered we had roadside assistance. Luckily Honda has the starter in stock. Fingers crossed I’m still under warranty. (I don’t think I am though. Ugh.) And I was JUST TELLING IT how pretty and great it was, and it goes and does this to me?! Rude, car. R U D E. 😂

@paytonpedro oh noooooo!!!! I will not get any more root canals. I have had 3 go bad on me, crowns fall off, all that crap. Just rip the dang tooth out. I don't care how bad it looks, I can't handle the chances of them going bad on me. I just have bad teeth. I'm so sorry you're going through that.
