Trying to Get Pregnant

Period 2 days early

My expected period is suppose to be on the 5th June, Friday but it came yesterday and is very light on the second day which it normally isn't. It is usually very heavy on the second day and my period is never late or early. We have been trying to conceive but I'm not sure if I should take a pregnancy test or even when to take one. Please help,

Re: Period 2 days early

  • Your body doesnt follow a calendar. There are many reasons why you can ovulate earlier or later than you are used to, which would result in a change in when your period arrives. If you really want to, test in a week, but it will probably be a waste of a test.

Please lurk and educate yourself on how cycles actually work, they are not clocks.

  • Your body isn't a machine and can/will change on you. If your period is early, you ovulated earlier than "normal" this month. If it is your period, there is no need to take a test. If you aren't sure, then go ahead a take one for peace of mind.
  • If you think you're pregnant, take a test. But if it's AF, you aren't pregnant and probably just ovulated earlier this cycle.

Just an FYI, be careful with these kinds of questions. No one here can tell you if you're pregnant. I'd suggest lurking a bit through old posts, I'm sure you'll see this question gets asked pretty often.

    Good luck!

Sounds like your period just came early. Your cycle is "regular" until it isn't. Do what PP said, lurk the boards and educate yourself on cycles. You will be amazed at what you can learn.

  • Your body has NEVER been late or early, even by a day or two?  May i ask how long you've been off of the pill (or other hormonal birth control)?  The only people i've ever known that have NEVER had any change in cycle length are those that are on hormonal BC.  And even the people who are on hormonal BC will occassionally start spotting a day early, or start their period a day late.

Take a test if you're worried, but i'd suggest that you read up on temping and start doing that this cycle...it should give you more clarity around when youre period should arrive each month.  FWIW, when i went off the pill, my periods were really light by the second day generally, and gone by the fourth day.  It was completely different from what i had on the pill.

Well this is certainly a new one. If your period is 2 days early, you are not pregnant.

I thought the same thing. Thanks for the chuckle.

  • Sounds like it's still just a period. Your body can change whenever it wants to. If you really don't believe it, take a test.

There is no "always or never". I'm confused as to why you want to take an HPT if you've gotten your period?

Early or late, a period means not pregnant.

As others have mentioned, your cycle can change at any time for various reasons. Please read the "If you could tell a newbie thread" pinned at the top.

Also, you seem confused about your body so I suggest you start getting to know it. Start temping, download the Fertility Friend app and read their tips.

The snarky gif is for fun, don't take it personally.

Period means your endometrial lining (the thing that the egg buries into to make you pregnant) is shedding. No lining = not pregnant. I'm not sure why this is confusing?

If you want to know when to test, generally 12dpo and then every week until AF or BFP. I'm sorry about this cycle, good luck next cycle! I would suggest enjoying your favourite cocktail!

  • I know this is an old post but I feel like all these woman were harsh with you. Yes, a period late or early is a period. But bleeding is not always a period and you can still be pregnant. I got my “period” a whole week early and then it lasted for 5 days instead of my normal 3 days. I felt off so the next week even though I had a “period” I took a pregnancy test. What do you know, I was pregnant. So obviously I had implantation bleeding. My son is 5.5 years old now. Don’t let rude woman make you feel bad because something different happens with YOUR body.
