  • I'll start: I had a bra on all day Sunday until I went to bed and my boobs hurt SO BAD.

  • It's Monday. Does that count? Also it's winter carnival week and the week before vacation so I'm going to hear for 3 days, why are we doing work???

Well if you weren't supposed to do work these the days we wouldn't be in school.
  • I’m sure this sounds exactly right to you if you also work in a school: today we have a staff planning/wellness day. The district has actually provided some really cool wellness activities like take an hour to read your favorite book or a round of golf (there’s like 20-30 options). My boss however scheduled parent teacher conferences I have to attend instead. So typical!
  • @laj0217 that is terrible. I'm sorry you're boss sucks. Mine is the type that would say let's cancel a staff meeting and go bowling you guys look like you need that. (he did that in our last district, I followed him here, but the super here is awful and plans every meeting and pd that he has so he can't ruin his own school).
  • @jhysmath omg how awesome! I love the bowling example! My boss did say we could work through lunch and leave an hour early lol. The teachers all get to leave at 12:30 though after their fun activity. Sometimes, being on the Student Affairs side of the school stinks! Although, I love being a social worker, so I’m just bitching lol.
  • I really want runny eggs with toast and jelly. Alas, I’ll probably have hard eggs with toast and jelly for dinner 😂
  • What's wrong with runny eggs?

  • @mokay19 I don't eat runny eggs during pregnancy either and alllllways crave them. Nothing better than dipping toast in them!

  • @kboydbowman raw/undercooked eggs are one of those not recommended for during pregnancy due to risks… similar to lunch meat. Some people abide by it and some don’t so I don’t think it severe but I follow it!

@lalarose22 I swear every time I’m pregnant, I’ve immediately wanted over easy eggs 😂
  • You can pry my runny eggs from my cold dead hands.

  • @mokay19 I tell myself that I get my eggs from a friend locally and as long as the whites are cooked I'm all set. I get scrambled or hard while out. Usually covering it with hollandaise helps so eggs Benny for me.
  • @jhysmath .....but Hollandaise is just butter plus runny barely cooked egg yolk and lemon juice?

  • @kboydbowman they're heated as an emulsion, when I make it at home it needs to boil to thicken.... At a restaurant it's likely a powder mixed with butter... We don't have fancy restaurants that make their own.
  • @kboydbowman and I just Googled in not a good chef because my yolks are definitely cooked much longer than recommended when I make it. That might also be why mine "breaks" so often.
  • I love me some Hollandaise.  But if you're avoiding runny yolks while pregnant you should DEFINITELY avoid Hollandaise because they're much less cooked than either poached, soft boiled, or fried!

  • Ok, now I has a seriouz sad.  After all the runny eggs discussion I decided to make myself some poached eggs on toast.  I have a highly precise down to the second way I usually do this to make perfect poached eggs, but this time I decided to try making them with my fancy little egg cooker (which I've only used for hard boiled eggs before).  Well, it overcooked them to somewhere between a soft boil and a hard boil consistency so now I have no runniness at all. :(  Going to eat them anyway, but still...

  • So Sunday my dad came to visit. Because of the whole travel for wedding in May issues and the fact we found out they already booked a shared suite 90 days early, we figured we would tell him about the pregnancy to hopefully make him aware we couldn’t come.

His response was “oh, we thought we knew the last time we saw you” - which was Christmas Day so nope… not pregnant then and was drinking and apparently just looking large. Then when we mentioned the travel restriction… “but we already booked the rooms. Your share was $800” and the much expected “but what do people who live there do?” 🙄

I just left it at “I’m extremely disappointed I can’t go, but I can’t control it and I’m not taking that risk”. Of course met with a new topic completely unrelated. Dude. You have 3 months to find someone to take our spot. It’s a family wedding where everyone is traveling. But this is obviously now on me. So glad to have such an understanding family right now. 🙄
  • @dsmith211 yeah that's a big no. I can't believe he went out and booked for you without asking, and assumes that you need to fill the space. I haven't gone to a wedding with family as an adult, but I don't think my parents would book she expect me to pay without at least asking first.
  • @jhysmath That’s the thing too is we did discuss this before we found out we were pregnant but it was definitely a possibility since we were actively trying. I said it sounded like a good plan to save some money but please talk to us before you do anything.

Obviously the talk never happened and they thought they were doing us a favor. All things considered, it was a decent gesture bc it really would have saved us a lot if we could go but I asked to let us know first for a reason and now they’re all irritated. Kind of makes me glad at this point that I can’t go. 🙄

  • @dsmith211 families can be brutal! I’ve felt more compassion and understanding from all you amazing ladies on this app in the last few weeks than my own family. I hope they come around for you and realize that it’s not on you by any means abs they should’ve asked if they weren’t sure!

I just came here to bitch about how fricken itchy the eczema is on my forehead!! I have no idea what’s causing it and I’m using vanicream and Vaseline to help with it but it’s not helping at all! Today it’s extremely bad!!! Ah!!!
  • My gardener/landscaper is outside doing a major project for us and has been out there all day. Which means my dogs are insane.  Gardener guy is out front, so we do periodically let the dogs out into the back to pee, but they largely just run to the fence and bark at him.  So annoying.  I want to strange them both today (the dogs, not the gardener).  Gardener also swore he would have the project finished today, but there's only 3 hours of daylight left and there is absolutely no way he's going to finish.  Which means we'll end up having another day of dog terrorism when he comes back to finish.

  • During pregnancy if I’m craving runny eggs, I sous vide eggs to poach them and if I want eggs benny, I just use the knorr package for hollandaise. Def much pickier about what I’ll eat out at a restaurant.
  • @theblondebump tell me about sous vide poached eggs... I can't poach eggs to save my life even though I try often. I also see that the instapot has a sous vide function
  • @jhysmath the method I use makes perfect poached eggs 95% of the time. :)

  • @kboydbowman I feel like I can eff up any method. I've tried the slow stir and turn off water which everyone swears by, but end up with egg white strings and a yolk.
  • @jhysmath oh interesting! I didn’t know there was a sous vide option on the instant pot, I wonder if mine has that? (Maybe mine is old lol) for sous viding eggs, it’s extremely simple if you have a precision cooker, you just fill the water, put eggs in the water and set the precision cooker to the appropriate temp (167 degrees for 13 mins, I believe). Super easy!
  • @theblondebump they don't get stuck to the bottom just sitting there?
  • @jhysmath if you're interested I'll walk you through the extremely detailed version of my method lol

  • My egg method is:
    - butter in a pan
    - egg in pan
    - cook til done

    😂
  • Fried eggs are my least favorite kind of eggs....the whites end up so rubbery!

  • @kboydbowman I'm with you about prying runny eggs out of my dead hands😂 it's the only way I can eat eggs right now and even still I only eat about half before my belly says all done. At least it's a little protein. So sick of food aversions.
  • @kboydbowman I'd love to know your method.

@mokay19 my method is much like yours, but there's also leave it in the pan as I go finish getting the kids and myself ready. Oh and sometimes I remember to save bacon grease and use that instead of butter.
  • @jhysmath this is involved but the details matter.

You need a saucepan that's about 1.5 inches deep and about 12-14 inches across.  Fill with about 1" of water.  Add a tablespoon of white vinegar and a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.

As soon as the water comes to a boil, break the eggs in and immediately turn the heat down to a level 4 (assuming a 1-10 knob).  As soon as you turn the water down, start the toast in your toaster.  Must be set to level 2.5 (other parts of this will need to get adjusted if you like your toast darker or lighter - this timing perfectly cooks the eggs).

As soon as the toast pops, turn off the heat on the eggs.  Immediately butter the toast, then gently scoop out the eggs with a slotted spoon and put on the toast.  Sprinkle the eggs w/salt and pepper to taste.

    Done!

  • @foreveronyourside I'm sorry you're itchy! I get eczema on the palms of my hands and the bottoms of my feet and it absolutely sucks.

I'm here to join the "I love runny eggs" club. I've compromised during pregnancy and switched to a 3 minute poached egg, so it's *less* runny but not actually hard. If not for eggs I would be eating absolutely no protein right now, as meat sounds awful, so I'm calling it a reasonable compromise.
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • @kboydbowman I'll have to give it a try. My toaster has been acting up, even on the longest setting is barely toasting things, but every once in awhile it will decide to burn something.
