Upcoming Appointments or Results: had anatomy scan last Monday and everything went great. Glucose test on 3/1.
How are you feeling?: Not great. I am feeling sad due to this pregnancy not being sunshine and rainbows and not getting to fully enjoy this pregnancy as I do intend this to be my last. But physically I’m starting to feel much better.
Rants/Raves: see above lol.
Questions: is anyone scheduling a hospital tour? And if so when should we be doing it? I didn’t do one with my first as I was delivering locally and was no stranger to our local hospital. We are two hours away from the hospital I will be delivering at and I’m stressing that I don’t know what to expect or how to navigate it Ha.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: OB checkup tomorrow, full anatomy scan next week
How are you feeling?: Ok for the most part. My knee pain went away after 2 days of barely being able to move, so that's good.
Rants/Raves: Rave - I'm starting to feel more movement, so I'm super happy about it. It's still faint and anterior placenta is making it harder to feel things, but now the thumps/hiccup type sensations low in the belly are getting more and more noticeable. They are especially consistent after I eat too. Rant - DH and I agreed a while ago this will be our last child but the thought of it has me feeling all sorts of things that I was not prepared for. The thought that this is the last one is making me emotional. Knowing we're having a boy, I'm starting to sort my daughter's clothing, packing up all the small things and giving it away and I have no idea why I'm having such a hard time with the idea of parting with her things. It's an emotional rollercoaster and I didn't think it'd be this hard fully accepting it all.
Questions: Nothing I can think of yet

@marionberry19 I had no idea hospital tours were a thing until TB put it on the suggested to do list. Probably will not do it since we’re very much a “let’s wing it, I’m sure there’ll be signs!” type of couple lol. @Tulips29 Glad to hear your knee pain is getting better, joint pain is the worst. I share your annoyance with having an anterior placenta. I keep waiting for kicks to be firm and consistent enough to tell DH to try and feel them but I just know he won’t be able to.

How are you feeling?: A lot of pain and discomfort
Rants/Raves: Rave - Vacation is going great and we got to see my grandparents yesterday, which was lovely. There’s also something very restorative about being in sunshine and around flowers. Won’t have that back in Kentucky for a few more months.
Rant - It’s been hard to come to terms with my physical limitations. Our first day in California included lots of walking around with not nearly enough water or consistent snacking, and I really paid for it. My core (bump? abs? stomach? really don’t know what to call it) hurts quite a bit and I woke up yesterday morning with some violent vomiting. I was afraid I ate something but it stopped after the morning so it really was just a reaction to overdoing it the day before. That was a shock to DH who still has trouble remembering that I’m not in the same shape I’ve always been in.
Questions: How are others learning their body’s limits? I know keeping moving is important, but what’s the right point to stop? I’m used to just pushing my way through pain but I’m worried I’m doing damage (to my body not the baby, s/he seems to be perfectly content in there.)
Upcoming Appointments or Results: appointment next week
How are you feeling?: mostly ok (still coughing, still exhausted from Covid). The weird thing this time is the pubic symphysis pain that I go to physical therapy for.
Rants/Raves: rants - I get exhausted standing up to cook dinner. Or out of breath from getting us up and out the door in the morning. It’s so irritating. Rave - thoroughly enjoying snooping around ThredUP for good second hand maternity clothes.
Questions: anyone on their not-first pregnancy feel like they’re so much bigger so much faster??
@marionberry19 I did the hospital tour last time, and thought it was worth it.
@Tulips29 I know I will be sad when it is time for the last one. Since I did IVF, I still have 2 more to go back for after this one. Wouldn't feel right leaving any behind.
@pinkkillersheep Glad your vacation is going good. California is so beautiful. I do notice that if I overdo things, I feel crampy and sick.

How are you feeling?: Sciatica, night time congestion, acid reflux, trouble sleeping, occasional headaches. It helps if I stop eating by 6pm, to avoid night time acid reflux.
Rants/Raves: Have been cleaning and trying to get ready for baby. Glad I have energy some days. Bachelor tonight. It is Shanae's 2 on 1, for those that watch the Bachelor.
Questions: Anyone ever try the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper. They have a mini one for smaller rooms.
@pinkkillersheep glad you're enjoying your vacation! I feel like being around sunshine in general just puts me in a good mood all around. As for your question, I used to be the same way, just push through the pain/discomfort because I'm the do it all myself type. I've learned with type that taking a break, slowing down and not pushing myself as hard is not a bad thing. If I feel uncomfortable, there's no shame in slowing down or taking a break. I was 12 weeks pregnant when DH and I went to SF a few years back but I had a hard time hiking so we had to skip a lot of that. Even walking uphill around SF was exhausting so I'd take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water and not feel bad that I needed extra time to catch my breath. DH was fully supportive, even offered to push me up a hill from behind a few times lol. I would just listen to your body for cues when it says to stop so you don't overdo it.
@marionberry19 I didn't do a tour with my first, I just got instructions where to go from my doctor. 2nd time around I was offered a tour even though it was the same hospital, so we went for it. I would ask your OB if they schedule it or who to call at the hospital to set it up. I believe he told me they do tours starting 3rd trimester. If your hospital has multiple entrances/wings, I would ask which one goes directly to the L&D unit.

How are you feeling?: Really good other than being tired bc my 3 year old is suddenly having sleep issues on top of some pregnancy insomnia that seems to be kicking in.
Rants/Raves: Rant I've been on a bender with eating unhealthy things and not getting any exercise and I feel super guilty and my bowels are paying the price with some constipation. Rave DH and I have a Valentine's Day Hello Fresh box coming and I'm super jazzed to cook and hang out with him with a restaurant quality meal in sweatpants.
Questions:
@fluteling YES. I'm gigantic. I'm already feeling like I might need to size up my clothes soon since my belly is so big. Also, I get out of breath reading a bedtime story to the kids. What's up with that?
@pinkkillersheep I'm like that too and it's really hard. I was in the best shape of my life when I got pregnant with DD1 and 6 years after her being born I haven't gotten back there and I'm still mourn that feeling of being strong and not having the same level of endurance. You don't need to stop but change up what type you're doing. I'm not an expert by any means but find that yoga and Pilates makes my body feel good. My joints ache less, I'm more relaxed, and feel like I'm focusing on movements that will help in child birth and to push that kid out like a BA.
@romeoandjuliet146 I'm cleaning and trying to get stuff ready too. I'm in full on nesting mode.
@Tulips29 Knowing it's your last is so hard no matter how ready you are. This is 4, and after 3 I said I was completely done. I honestly feel like I'll never truly feel "done" which is insane since I wasn't sure I wanted kids at all. I also think at least with me, it's coming to terms with my age and the end of my fertility. I'll be 40 in July and that was my cut off for kids. We decided that DH has to get a vasectomy and we both cry every time we talk about it.
@marionberry19 So glad you're starting to feel better! We did a tour but I feel like it was more for DH than me since when we got there when I was in labor I was in no frame of mind to remember anything about where to go. Also, he was the one leaving the room for food and drinks etc.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: OBGYN and MFM next week, nothing this week
How are you feeling?: Feeling ok. Sciatica has started to act up and I've been using the foam roller which seems to be helping a bit. Also +1 to nighttime congestion and nasal passage dryness. I bought Baroleum which I remember helping during my last pregnancy and it's helping a bit but can sometimes make me more congested I think.
Rants/Raves: I'm getting nervous about disrupting our family. We've got such a good thing going as a family of 3 and I LOVE our 3 y/o daughter so much. I know everyone says your heart just expands and you can't imagine your baby not being there once they're born, but I'm getting nervous and feeling guilty about it Our daughter is extremely attached to me (will not let my husband give her a bath, put her to bed or even play/read with her most of the time). Although she's really nurturing to her babies and I'm sure she will be an excellent big sister and love taking care of her baby sister, I'm just getting nervous that she will feel like I'm ruining her life because I'll need to be with the baby quite a bit Crying just typing it out.
@idreamofginny I wonder how my 3 year old will react as well. We read her Big Sister book and she feels the baby kick. She also puts a baby bottle and pacifier to my tummy. Hopefully, she will be excited when the baby arrives.
@fluteling definitely getting larger much quicker now. I couldn't hide it past 13 weeks this time.
@romeoandjuliet146 this is my 3rd IVF pregnancy. We did 2 retrievals back and back last year because we had no embryos left after our son, got only 2 embryos from 1 retrieval so did a 3rd one and now have I think 5-6 good ones left in storage. I'm having a very hard time with the idea of letting them go knowing this is our last one. Even the idea of donation makes me emotional thinking someone else might have my kids. It's not easy coping with any of these thoughts.
@KFrob I wish I was a few years younger to say there still might be a chance. I also said 40 will be my cutoff and I'm 38 now. I just don't think my body can handle another pregnancy + I selfishly don't want to change diapers until I'm 45. I just hope the baby fever ends after this kid. Your Vday plans sound lovely!
@idreamofginny we were super worried about this as well, but surprisingly kids adapt to a new sibling. We were told to involve the older one even before the baby was born. We moved him to his big boy room and told him how nice it was to give his room to his baby sister. We constantly told him his baby sister can't wait to meet him, read books, talked about the baby so he'd be ready. We also had him involved right away when baby arrived and spent 1:1 time with him separately so he didn't feel left out. There was a lot of jealousy as well, but he took it out on me vs the baby. Eventually it all passed.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Feb 21st. Boring visit.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Nothing much to report.
Rants/Raves: Rave: We are working on getting our son potty trained and sleeping in his bed before Baby #2 comes. He has slept in his bed all of February so far (woo!) and he told me he had to pee last night when he was in the bath and held it until he was on the potty!! Still a long way to go, but definite progress! Rant: I can feel the beginnings of heartburn...so baby must be getting pretty furry by now.
Questions: Nothing right now
@marionberry19 I did the hospital tour and it was great. We got some things in place for my birth plan, but more importantly, we did all the pre-registration paperwork so I didn't have to do it while contracting!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Not for a couple weeks.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good pregnancy-wise - still some RLP and discomfort but so happy to be feeling her move around every evening after I eat. But I'm still sick with Covid - this lingering congestion and cough. I hate it. Occasionally it makes me throw up (or I'm still struggling to eat vegetables, which is the thing I need most!)
Rants/Raves: This is both a rant and a rave but I bought a bikini area trimmer and finally tried to clean up the wild overgrown forest - I think I did an okay job but I have no idea because I can't see it so that's super weird.
Questions: Is anyone considering using a doula (or has anyone in the past) ? I am going to give birth in a hospital because of my age and it makes me feel the most comfortable. But I like the idea of at least trying for a natural birth and thought a doula might be able to help me through it. On the other hand, my BF is super loving and helpful and I don't know if I'd rather not have a stranger in the room with us?
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 6/8 23 weeks tomorrow

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Regular today, glucose test in a month
How are you feeling?: Actually pretty good physically other than the fact this child is tucked in the right side of my pelvis. She must have been chilling on a nerve Sunday because my legs were getting heavy/restless
Rants/Raves: Both. I'm swamped at work. Between doing two roles right now when we are going into our busy season and trying to prepare to be gone all next week on vacation I'm overwhelmed. Trying to get as much done during the day at work and come home at night to try and prep bags/the house for vacation + a wedding this weekend. BUT, we will be at Disney so that will be exciting.
Questions: What kind of baby wearing devices do people prefer? I'm guessing I might need one this go round.
@shoarmie99 no specific experience with a doula, but I want to throw out there to double check with the hospital about how many people are allowed with you. In the current panini times, who knows what’s changed.
@KFrob that is the funniest thing - made me laugh out loud! Probably so accurate too! @fluteling currently the hospital says I can bring 2 people so I'm must planning on having my BF and either a doula or no one else.
@shoarmie99 Sorry I’m super late to this (I largely ignored my phone while on vacation) but I am using a doula. Like you, I’ll be at a hospital but want to have an advocate who has seen way more births than I ever will and is solely focused on me. While I’m hoping to avoid interventions, I’m open to whatever a healthy birth looks like for me. I just want to understand what’s happening and believe a doula can help with that.

@fluteling currently the hospital says I can bring 2 people so I'm must planning on having my BF and either a doula or no one else.
