What’s everybody doing for a tub/insert?? It’s been a lonnnng time for me! Last time we just had one of those big plastic baby tub things we set inside our larger tub, it was kinda bulky but easy to just stand on end to clean/rinse/dry out
What worked for us: Once the umbilical cord fell off we did bath each night before bed to set the routine. (prior to that was sponge). We used a super basic white tub from target Aveeno calming comfort bath wash and lotion
What did not work: if we skipped bath time then our night was a bust This flower tub. I saw it all over blogs and instagram and hated it. No support and got smelly.
We just used this tub. I neither love nor hate it, but it worked well for us. We don’t have much storage space so it’s annoying storing it in our larger tub and having to move it every time we shower, but there are worse problems to have!
We used one just like the first years one above for the first few weeks then got this to put in the tub with our toddler after until she could sit up on her own. Made bathing kids easier to do it together.
We have a plastic tub like The First Years one shown above. We have a sling for infant stage, then just the tub facing one way, then the other way. And finally, when they’ve outgrown that but aren’t yet ready for the freedom of the entire bathtub, I use a laundry hamper. Keeps them contained, keeps toys within reach, but let’s the water flow in and out and they can practice actually using their weight and butts to move around a little. We can fit either the plastic tub or the laundry hamper in the tub with another kid too. So that’s nice for shared baths.
Oh, and for products, we just work through baby gifts! Not fussy at all. My eldest has long curly-ish hair. So we use a free and natural curl conditioner on her as well. I also have a rubber ducky bath thermometer which I love. It’s a toy for the girls, but also functional for me. Turns red if the water is too hot. Green is just right. Blue is chilly.
We used the tub most of you are posting after he was a couple months old. We also used the PUJ for the first couple months. It didn’t get gross since it lays flat to dry right after… but now im seeing you all talking about this flower and wondering if it’s similar? It worked for us though!
So I'll say a +1 for the Frida baby cradle cap stuff. Works great for babies, and toddlers. That being said, anyone else dealing with CC with your older toddler/kid?? DD is 3 and it's never gone away. Such a nightmare trying to brush the Frida comb through her super fine curly, long hair 😖 the comb, lotions, etc all work, but omg there has to be an easier way when they have that much hair?!?!
Product wise, we don't use much on infants, idk if I'll even do soap for a while. 😬 Unless it's real bad blowout wise.
DD still uses leftover Beautycounter kids shampoo/conditioner/soap, but they stopped making that a while ago so idk what we're gonna use when she runs out... probably mine, since I'm pretty sure it's the exact same ingredients as the kids version 😂 anyone have any other crunchy-ish recs? (I'll refer to our randoms thread too, just looking here as well!) Artificial fragrance is a huge problem for me, and any lavender scent is out, and DD has sensitive dry skin.
@pajamstagrams from what I understand, cradle cap is actually the same condition as dandruff. Our pedi encouraged me to use Head & Shoulders, which is not as easy when they’re babies bc I worry so much about it dripping in their eyes. But I have no qualms about using it for my now 3 y/o when hers flares. Consistent use is the key when you notice it starting. 1 or 2 uses will not clear it up.
@pajamstagrams I also asked a similar Q in the randoms and as I read your question, I realized DD probably has cradle cap. She didn’t have it as a baby and I had no clue she could still get it. We haven’t tried to treat it at all but DD also has very sensitive / dry skin so hopefully you get some good recs for thay specifically 😆
@pajamstagrams you could probably make your own baby body wash out of super diluted liquid Castile soap (dr. Bonners has a very clean one that I think you can get at target. If not, Amazon is good). I’ve also heard great things about Young Living’s kids line, but they’re pricey and I swear they put lavender in everything lol
Oh as for the cradle cap like rashes for older kids…personally, I’d very gently wash their hair, get one of the baby hair brushes and a comb, apply some coconut oil to their scalps and let them sit for a few minutes before taking the brush and rubbing it in firm circles on the scalp. Comb out the flakes and rinse the hair. You’ll probably have to rewash to get all the oil out, but that’s what we’ve done when we’ve had issues in the past (although it’s always been super small patches and most likely related to DD1’s eczema)
Ok my 2.5 year old still has cradle cap too!!! I just ignored it when she was a baby because I assumed it would go away on its own. I thought that like scabs, you shouldn’t pick at it. Well.. it’s still there. Doesn’t help that she HATES having her hair shampooed. Thanks for the recs!!
@MrsLaLaBug that's the one we had with DS. I plan to use it for this little guy, too. I loved that it transitioned through several different stages and we used those toys even after he grew out of the bathtub. Actually, I think he still uses one of them. (3 years later). I recommend it!
@b_1029 I have one registered almost just like that! I honestly just registered for one of the cheapest ones with a sling, I like the sling for newborns! I honestly don't plan to use the infant tub for very long, we have a very big farm sink and it has been used to bathe a few babies lol. I just find it easier that it is my height and I'm not bending down the whole time, and when they were baby babies I used an infant tub and sat it on my counter. Once baby can sit up really good we'll just use the regular tub!
@sph97 yes the sling works great for newborns! We used the infant part of it for a little while, but once DD was probably 8m or so and could sit up, we just put one of those nonslip bath pads in the tub (can’t remember if ours is skip hop or munchkin).
We didn't have a bathtub where we were living when DD was a baby but we did have a deep farmhouse sink, so we just did sink baths with a foam mat thing (not the bacteria flower! ) for a long time. When she got older, we used an underbed storage bin in the shower to make a small tub. It was unconventional but did the job! We have a bathtub now so I was thinking about getting the angelcare seat to use in either the sink or tub.
For products, we used Beautycounter and now I use Puracy. DD has very sensitive skin but she tolerates it pretty well.

I was thinking of going with Earth Mama for products. Does anyone else use those?
