๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿผ Baby Names ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿฟ

Does anyone already have names picked out for both genders? Thought this would be a fun place for inspiration and feedback if requested (like deciding between two names).

  • Yep, we do. We use family names so weโ€™re all good to go.ย

If itโ€™s a boy it will be Michael Owen (Michael for my DH, Owen for my late father). If itโ€™s a girl, her name will be Lily and still figuring out middle name but possibly Grace. Our first daughter is named after my paternal grandmother and if we have a second girl, she will be named after my maternal grandmother.ย
  • We will find out the gender at 12ish weeks. Last time we said, ok, we have months and months to pick a name. But the moment we found out we were having a boy, we couldnโ€™t help brainstorming! Ok. I discovered I hate all names. Definitely the only good boy names are my husbandโ€™s name and my sonโ€™s name. There are no more. And there are clearly no good girl names. Thatโ€™s my feeling right now. Although my husbandโ€™s grandmother had a very interesting name that Iโ€™d want to consider if we have a girl. My husbandโ€™s father passed 2 years ago and if we had a boy Iโ€™d like to honor him. But he had THE STRANGEST name ever! I donโ€™t know how weโ€™d pull that off. But, weโ€™re not thinking about it for real until we find out.ย
  • @magnolia209 I hate all names too. My husband and I are both teachers so it makes it extra hard. We already started brainstorming. We'll use the boy name we've had picked out for awhile now, but a girl name we both can't agree. Hopefully we get a boy and it makes things easier, but because we're team green, we will have to figure out a girl name we like eventually.ย
  • @magnolia209. I also struggle with hating all names! ย We named my son after my late father which made things a lot easier but I have no clue what to do now when it comes to names.
  • @kboydbowman I really like that idea for naming. It helps focus in on names and gives him part of the name too.ย
  • @kboydbowman Aw I love that idea.

I'll save myself the sanity and just figure out a name once we know the gender. DH hates all boy names so we are gonna struggle if it's a boy. My little girl now is Liza Carlysle (DH's middle name is Carlysle and that was also his grandaddy's first name).
  • Team green this time around, just like last time. We looked at names ahead of time, but wanted to see the baby first. Nearly 40 hours after her birth, we finally landed on one that fit her, and it wasn't one either of us considered (though the middle name was my mom's middle name, which was the plan). Turns out it actually has the same meaning of my late mom's name, which we didn't discover until a month later. I like to think it was my mom's way of saying, "I'm here." ๐Ÿฅฐ

  • I have the problem that I *like* a lot of names, but love about 2โ€ฆ which my kids are named haha. So Iโ€™m at ZERO options right now. Hopefully in 9 months thatโ€™ll change!

But I need DH to think better. He just always says โ€œgive me a list and Iโ€™ll veto what I donโ€™t like.โ€ And I say โ€œhow bout we just both make lists?โ€ ๐Ÿ™„
  • @mokay19 the boy person does exactly the same thing.ย  I make the list, he says "no" to nearly everything lol

  • @mokay19 my husband has names he really likes, but I hate them so it's not helpful. I'd much rather him look at my list and pick one from it.ย
  • We're pretty well set on names. I decided this one's a girl. We all three are hoping for a girl - Reagan Pearl. There are two contenders for a boy right now. Clayton and Zig. Both have meaning to us. Clayton is easy to find a middle name for. Middle names we like are Lee, Ronald, and Glynn; these are all family names as wwell.ย Zig is a bit trickier.ย
  • Each of our families has a traditional middle name for the oldest boy/girl. We agreed on Vada Anne for a girl, but it turns out we both hate all boy names lol. Considering Augustus after my grandfather, but I donโ€™t like Auggie as a nickname and my husband does. I prefer Gus. Also thinking of Beckett, Beck for short, or Ephraim with Remy for short. Middle name for a boy would be Lee. Just hoping on the name front that weโ€™re having a girl - so much easier๐Ÿ˜‚ ย
  • Boy names were much harder for me than girl names with my kids. I have a secret list on my phone for now that I will share once we find out the gender.
  • @leannechristina Aww. My middle name is Pearl. Itโ€™s a great middle name! If you have a girl, tell her that a fun game is to ask people to guess her middle name that starts with P. No one has ever ever ever guessed mine!ย

@laj0217 My good friendโ€™s little boy is August and goes by Gus! Itโ€™s a great name and not overly common.
  • do people want this to be pinned at the top for quick reference all pregnancy?ย
  • I don't think it needs to be, but it can be if other people want it to be.

  • So funny you are may be choosing Zig! My husband is German, and wants to incorporate some sort of German name into our family. Sigfried/Sigmund are two names that often get shortened to Ziggy in Germany, so we now may be using that as our go to boy name! Ziggy Grey will most likely be his name if itโ€™s a boy!ย
  • @jhysmath I feel you! I'm an elementary school principal and my husband is a (former) HS chemistry teacher. Every name has been ruined or taken by some child already.ย
40 yr old FTM EDD 9/30/22ย
  • For a girl we have these first and middle names:
    Lillian Alexandra
    Freya Elise
    Selene Astriel
    Autumn Aster
Luna Lux (this one is mostly the husband)
    Stella Theia

Boy names were harder but we have:
    Lucien Alistair
    Herschel Silas
    Joseph Garand
    Jack Octavian
    Carter Orion
    Oberon Atlas
    Ignis Altair.ย

Not sold on any one name but Freya Elise and Lillian Alexandra at the moment but thatโ€™s our list.
  • Boy: Tom Marshall or Marshall Tom (My husband grandfather and my great grandfather)

Girl: Irene Mavis (Both our grandmothers and I just thought Mavis was old school pretty).

I don't know if this will help any for an idea, but before my husband and I agreed on our names, we were going to use Briggs as one. Since you're leaning towards the B's, it could also be a good optional middle or first name.
  • I do like Briggs, but my cousin used it with her last one! I have 25 first cousins and most have kids now, so we might need to get over โ€œreusingโ€ a name lol
  • We have a girls first name picked out, but are struggling to agree on a name for a boy. My boyfriend wants to name them after him as a โ€œJrโ€ but I honestly hate the whole โ€œJrโ€ thing and always have. I feel like they will already be taking his last name so I should be able to have a say in the first name. Middle name I care less about so he can pick that for both genders. I love him but I donโ€™t want an Anthony Jr running around, even a nickname like โ€œAJโ€ for that would kill me. Reminds me of a boy band ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚
  • We already have our girl name we didn't use for our son: Juniper Raye.ย

For a boy, I'm liking Owen Wilder or Nathan Thaddeus. It's still in flux though. I like to have the name picked out early, like by the time I find out the sex, but that still gives me a few months to commit.ย

  • @jhysmath LOL also true. This would be the first junior and he wasnโ€™t even named after any family member previously so the hunt for a boy name continues!!ย
  • @Amphibious22 I love Juniper! ๐Ÿ˜
  • We have our top names for each gender. (Although I have a strong feeling itโ€™s a boy). My husbands family has the tradition of two middle names and we have chosen to keep middle names family names.ย

For a girl we would go with Honey Bea (short for Barbra) Hudson or Honey Hudson Marie. Hudson is my maiden name.ย

For a boy we are set on Wyoming Timothy James. We would call him Wylie which is my best friends middle name. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • @mamamoomoo12 I mean, how can you resist Honey Bea Hudson? Thatโ€™s so freaking cute!ย
  • Weโ€™re team green again. We already decided if itโ€™s a boy weโ€™ll use the same name we had picked out if our daughter had of been a girl. If itโ€™s a girl we will go with a traditional Irish nameย
  • @magnolia209 Thank you! We have been stuck on the name Honey for years!
  • I have a list of names I like that Iโ€™ll share with my husband once we know gender. Iโ€™m sure if I share now he wonโ€™t like any of them ๐Ÿคฃ That said, Iโ€™m struggling with name association because one of my top girl names was the name of my paternal grandmother whom I didnโ€™t have a great relationship with. I canโ€™t help but think my family would all assume I was honoring her.ย
  • Liam Rudolph for a boy, Ava Marie for a girl (My bfs dads name was Rudolph, my grandmas name was Marie).ย
  • Lillian Alexandra sounds great!
  • I know my name style preferences when I find myself googling โ€œpopular baby names from the 1910โ€™sโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚
  • @leannechristina Zig is my first choice boy name also and Iโ€™ve never heard anyone else consider it! My husband and I are both big Glenn Danzig fans.ย
