TW - sorry friends

It’s a missed miscarriage. There is a gestational sack measuring 6+1. There is a yolk. She said it all looks so perfect. Usually in miscarriages it looks deflated and mine looks so healthy. But I knew. Then we talked dates. I knew. She finally agreed it would be very hard to be this off based on what I told her. We’re doing hCG tests today and Sunday to confirm and then will talk about options on Monday. I’m so so so bummed. But, I know it just wasn’t meant to be. We’ll try again. I wish you all the best in your pregnancies. I know many of you have been here. It’s very encouraging to know so many go on to healthy pregnancies. My OB was very encouraging about trying again right away. My husband is being encouraging also. ❤️

  • @magnolia209 when I had my MMC (discovered at 10 weeks with fetal loss at like 7+6), I elected to wait it out - it took almost 3 weeks and wasn't until my HcG was down to like 2k.  So don't be surprised if it stays at just spotting until your appointment.  Some slightly graphic informational stuff below the spoiler about the actual process if it happens before then.

If it happens on its own, you will know - it is an actual labor (although not as intense) with fairly regular contractions.  A hot bath or shower while it's happening will help with the pain a lot (and also make it a lot less messy to deal with).  Once you've had a large clot or two, purposeful coughing can help the rest pass faster. We chose to keep the p.o.c. (the amniotic sac w/baby and placenta were both distinctly identifiable) for burial.  After the primary p.o.c. have passed, you'll have some additional bleeding for about a week, much like a normal period, but it will get lighter quickly.

As far as the pain...It's pain, but it's not excruciating (or at least wasn't for me); you might ask your provider for a small script of Percoset (couple pills) just in case the actual miscarriage starts prior to your appointment.

  • @kboydbowman Thank you for sharing. That’s all super helpful. I really hope this is it starting naturally (I’ve of course stopped spotting as of now) but, my hGC was over 29,000 yesterday - so what you said makes sense. I’ll just keep my OB appointment for a week from now and let her tell me how it’s going. But, again thanks, in my head I was thinking this is the end, but I think you are right to warn me it could take many weeks. ❤️
  • @magnolia209 Had you on my mind today. So sorry you are dealing with this. I know there's nothing anyone can really say to help, but please just know you have a big group of internet strangers supporting you if you feel like you need to talk!
  • So sorry to hear your news @magnolia209. My heart goes out to you. I had a missed miscarriage this spring. Tried all summer and got pregnant in December. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that another pregnancy comes when you are ready for it, and that your baby and you are healthy anf thriving. <3
