Old Wives Tale that was accurate?

Have you ever heard an old wives tale regarding pregnancy that ended up being true?

My husband and I haven’t told a single person we’re pregnant. He’s a fishing guide but went fishing today with some friends for fun. For the first time ever he lost every fish he hooked. His friends started saying, “you need to go home and get your wife a pregnancy test.” Confused he asked why they were saying that and they told him that in Costa Rica (where we live) if a good fisherman hooks fish but loses all of them it’s because his wife is pregnant. He said he was able to play it off but couldn’t believe it!

    Hey there.  This is probably better for the "Great Big Question" thread or the "weekly randoms" thread.  Remember, we try to avoid one-offs to keep the board less cluttered.
    Current pregnancy -
    First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

    Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
