1st Trimester

Past covid loss of smell making 1st trimester horrible

Has anyone else had covid and never got your sense of smell/taste back and now it’s making early pregnancy awful? I’m feeling really down and I don’t know what to do. Even water smells like a trash can. Has anyone had this and it did get better? I need some hope?

  • I can’t speak to the pregnancy portion, but I had everything smelling like gummy bears for a while… weird, but it’s Covid, so 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @ejoseph16 I had covid back in January and never got my smell or taste really back and now it’s making everything smell like a trash can. I never experienced this with my other pregnancies. I was nauseous but this is that covid smell taste loss exacerbated
  • I had COVID over a year ago and still have some altered taste/smell. I was just giving up hope that it’d ever get back to normal but somewhere around week 8 a few items that had been tasting horrible have started to taste like they used to!! I’m thinking those pregnancy hormones may have whacked something back in place so you never know… still not perfect but gave me some hope. Hang in there!
  • I can totally relate. Had Covid a year ago and most things still didn’t smell right/ could only smell them slightly. Now I can’t even be in the same room as a cup of coffee or someone eating chips. It felt like going from 0-100 without any stops in the middle.
