Cervical Length

Hello all,

Had the anatomy scan today and all looked great with baby boy! They also checked my cervix since I’m at risk due to early labor last time (35 weeks and 3 days). They said my cervix length is 3 cm and that progesterone isn’t needed usually until 2.5 cm. At 18 weeks exactly, is this length something to be concerned about? They said they monitor every two weeks out of precaution.

@malpal89 I’m in the same boat as you. My last one was born at 35w5d and I’ve been told I’m at risk for pre-term labor as well. My MFM already put me on progesterone but said they want cervix to be above 2 cm. They gave me the option of taking progesterone or not and I opted for it just as a precaution. I do vaginal but there’s also injections that I believe are preferred if cervix is getting close to the shorter side. Hoping everything remains normal for you!

I would assume 3 cm is ok or they would’ve done something right then and there. I feel I can’t celebrate my baby being healthy for this dern cervix being on my mind. So good you’re taking preventive measures! Progesterone is supposed to be much better than the procedure, so you’ll be great.

Yes, I believe 3 cm should be fine, but they will monitor if it is shortening. If progesterone can put you more at ease, maybe worth asking the doctor if they will prescribe it? Hoping these babies stay in as long as possible for us both!
