How do you feel? For the most part, good. No nausea but occasionally I throw up in the AM, either from brushing my teeth, smelling something or because I'm so hungry.  I'm definitely growing and having a hard time covering my little bump!
Looking forward to sharing with family this week and having a week off work!

Questions: I am still seeing my primary OB but also scheduled with a fetal maternal specialist. Curious how others are divying up appointment with different providers.

Rants/Raves: I am always hungry. Worried I'm going to pack on too many extra pounds. Trying to have little healthy snacks between meals but I want BIG snacks between meal.

Advice:xl First time Mom so not really but I do find fresh air gives me energy and just in general makes me feel good!

GTKY: What's your favorite way to practice self-care? Exercise! I love being outdoors and moving!

  • @kbtt2022 my birthday is August 17! Fun fun! I'm a first time mom, too and I find having a fresh air source is helpful for nausea. I had Covid about a month ago, and foe the first time today I was able to smell my hand lotion. I almost cried. But now I'm thinking, what if I start developing more nausea and aversion because my smell is coming back?!
  • EDD/Weeks + Days: August 21/10 weeks 1 day

How do you feel? Generally good. I'm exhausted most days by about 2pm. My students were all kinds of off the wall today so it was especially tiring. I'm also feeling anxious because I know my blood type is O-negative and while I have only had a little bit of spotting here and there, I know that if my babies aren't a negative rH, then I'll need to get a shot of rhogam. I am going to talk to my OB on Wednesday at my appointment.

Questions: I'm a plus-size FTM, regularly a 2x or a 22. Does anyone have any experience with maternity clothes for these sizes? Regular stores only go up to XXL, which is usually slightly smaller than 2X.

Rants/Raves: my students were bonkers today. I wrote up 4 kids before 10am. At first I thought, maybe it's my pregnancy hormones, but another teacher said "Nope! Everyone forgot that there are rules, expectations, and consequences if you don't follow them." I am getting my sense of smell back, a little at a time, so yay!

Advice: FTM, but my advice is take care of yourself any way you need to. I'm taking a whole day off on Wednesday for my OB appointment in the morning.

GTKY: What's your favorite way to practice self-care? I love to read! Anything. Harry Potter, LOTR, Golden Girl, the Bible, prayer devotionals.
  • @bridgiebee82 I'm already looking forward to reading Happy Potter to my kids! Relive the magic!
  • Got the news today that our baby B didn't make it. But we are grateful that baby A is healthy. Good luck to you all and your multiples.
  • @Katek819 oh I'm so sorry. You're in my thoughts. Sending you love and prayers. 🙏🏻 ❤
  • @Katek819 sorry to hear about Baby B. Best wishes for you and Baby A.
  • EDD/Weeks + Days: August 30th/ 9 weeke

How do you feel? Exhausted and anxious for our next appointment.

    Questions:

Rants/Raves: I know it's just anxiety but I'm super anxious about waiting a month in between ultrasounds. We are pregnant with quads. We see the high risk team feb.2nd and I'm getting a pessary placed under my tac to prevent preterm labor. I'm having a hard time waiting another 2 and a half weeks for another ultrasound though 😬

    Advice: listen to your body!

GTKY: What's your favorite way to practice self-care? Relaxing showers, meditating each day and reading huge novels or series that I can get lost in
  • Me heart is with you Kate
  • @Katek819 I’m so sorry that you’re going through this!! Sending virtual hugs!
  • EDD/Weeks + Days:
    8/9/2022 12 weeks today!

    How do you feel?
I’m still feeling pretty nauseous and overall “icky”, but I’m starting to get used to the fact that it’s twins ;)

    Questions:
I’m nervous because I’m having my Nuchal translucency US this week; any advice?

    Rants/Raves:
I just went to an US and they didn’t give me a picture! I even asked them and they said they didn’t save it so they can’t print anything!
I was so mad, I waited three weeks for the US and I want to see my babies!

    Advice:
    Give yourself a break!

GTKY: What's your favorite way to practice self-care?
Lay in bed and binge watch TV
  • @tplusthree I'd be so mad and make them do the U/S again. But I'm a little bit psycho. Lol
  • I went for my 10 week check up today. Apparently I'm going every 2 weeks to my OB, and will have monthly Maternal Fetal Medicine appointments. I'm tired just thinking about them!
  • @bridgiebee82 glad your 10 week went well! I've been wondering on appt frequency and who people are seeing. Not sure what that will look like for me. I have my 12 week next week and my first with maternal fetal medicine in Feb 28th. So I guess I'll know more after that. My OB appts are 300 miles from where I live so appts are an all day event. I may be able to start doing regular US in my hometown which will help reduce travel time and days off work.

Holy crap! 300 miles away?! I thought ours were a hike and it take us an hour to get to our ultrasounds and Dr appointments. Do they work with a hospital closer to you? My first thought was when you go into labor  (a long long time from now) do you have to drive 300 miles to get to the hospital?!
  • @Katek819 sending love your way. Glad you and baby A are okay.
  • @Karissa764 I know right! They said they can share care with my local hospital for  some of the US if things are looking good. Our local is a critical access hospital but I won't be able to deliver there because I'm high risk with twins. So I think the plan is- be there (300 miles away) ahead of time before I go into labor. Before we knew they had their own sacs she said I may have to be there 2 months ahead. Now not sure if it will be 2 weeks, 4 weeks??
  • @kbtt2022 300 MILES?! Man, I felt inconvenienced going more than 5! I'd definitely try to be there ahead of time, but who the heck knows how long you'll need?!
  • @bridgiebee82 yeah, It's 5 1/2 hours each way! I'm fitting in my next appt on my way back from vaca, so that helps for the 12 week appt.

While changing I reached up and I saw my belly button and with my arms up it looks like an outie! That took me by surprise.  It seems so early! I haven't really been around pregnant women expecting twins. How big are we going to get?! Until my husband finishes our house, the cabin we are living in has a vertical ladder to get to bed. I feel like at this rate in a few months I won't be able to climb it 😬
  • @kbtt2022 oh my goodness, that is nuts to me! My belly button is still an innie. I didn't think about how pregnancy will change my belly button like that.
Ummm a ladder? I'm such a klutz, I almost fell out of bed this morning. Idk if I'd be able to climb a ladder to get into bed.
  • Side note: our bed when we were pregnant with 1&2 was so high that eventually I would be so pregnant that I needed a step stool to get it. First purchase after having #2?? New bed. 🤣
  • EDD/Weeks + Days: 8/31, 9 + 2

How do you feel? Honestly still in shock. Had our first US today and bout fell off the table when she said there were two in there. It’s still early but appears they would be identical. We do not have twins in the family so this was rather a surprise for my first pregnancy.

Physically I have felt a tiny bit nauseous these last couple days but other than that mostly just fatigue and horribly bloated. And hungry all the time.

Questions: I probably have all the questions. Still processing. I guess what is recommended a must have for a first time mom and now mom of twins? Like register wise? The lists are overwhelming and I have been avoiding looking at them.

Rants/Raves: Guess I’m lucky I haven’t been more sick? This sure changes a lot in our plan though. We bought 36 acres over the summer to build on and my husband and I were planning on moving either shortly before or shortly after baby into a 5th wheel while we build a house. Now this might change things (this and some major family drama which I’ll save for a venting thread lol).

Advice: pls help. I’ll take any advice.

GTKY: What's your favorite way to practice self-care?
Well it used to be a hot bath and wine so now.. I’ve mostly just been sleeping when I can. Sleeping and regular things like getting my nails done, hitting the gym, scheduling a facial. Getting out of my house.
  • @sarahdaley11 congratulations on twins! Also, I am so jealous of your 32 acres. Buying acreage is on my list for our next move or our forever home. Surprisingly, babies don’t need as much as it seems like. Safe places to sleep, some diapering system and clothes, possibly bottles. Welcome!
  • Congrats @sarahdaley11! There are a few of us first timers expecting twins! We had a plan of how to stay in our tiny house for a couple months while my husband finishes our house but now with 2 on the way he's now in a hurry! He was planning on making our cabinets and some furniture but now I think we will be ordering! All I'm sure we are needing is an off road double stroller, 2 car seats and 2 cribs 🤷‍♀️
