Today I made some chickpea salad and it really hit the spot. It's like chicken or tuna salad but with chickpeas! I just ate more for a snack, with crackers. I needed something salty and creamy. I've definitely been craving salty things more than sweet during this pregnancy.
I just got hit with a ridiculous craving for rice pudding.... which I haven't eaten in at least a decade. Don't know how to make. Don't have any idea where to even buy it around here. And probably can't eat because I'm like 80% sure it's made with milk Pregnancy is weird.

I'm craving citrus, lemon in particular.... Even more specifically, lemoncello almonds. Also, I just ordered some from Amazon because it's late and no one can stop me. 😈
Anything with marinara sauce craving is still going strong. Beef aversion still going strong. Last couple nights I’ve been wanting an uncrustable and they have been hitting the spot.
Ive been predominantly plant-based for the last few years and all I have been wanting is animal protein. Chicken tenders, steak, burgers, eggs, you name it. My husband thinks it’s hilarious. Every morning I wake up craving an egg, cheddar, lettuce, tomato sandwich too. I haven’t eaten eggs in 4 years! And a Jimmy John’s sandwich with lettuce, cheese, and cucumbers has been another weird one! I haven’t eaten Jimmy John’s in years.
After over coming 10 years of disordered eating habits, I’m super in tune and respectful of what my body asks for / needs … but this massive change in my eating habits has us laughing. I had my labs double checked too to ensure there were no deficiencies going on, and everything is still super healthy and normal.
I will say I still can’t stand the smell of onions, peanut butter, cheap cooking oils, and coffee. They’ve been making me wanting to puke since day 1. I’ll drink decaf coffee, as long as I don’t smell the beans being ground up or the smells of it in the air. Once I have the cup in front of me, avoiding the kitchen, I love it.
@knottie when I was pregnant with my second son, I craved meat soooo bad. I was a five year vegan at the time, but I converted back because I couldn’t find anything else that fixed it.

@knottie@tuxielove93 you gotta do whatever makes you happy and healthy! I've been a vegan for almost 10 years. Can't say I've had meat cravings but I have had cravings for salty/fatty foods. So I have found myself enjoying an Impossible burger more than normal! 😆
Now that my appetite is coming back, I'm craving spicy foods again and salads with fruit, nuts, and goat cheese (pasteurized). Oh and juice. All the juice lol
@knottie Yes! I’ve been vegetarian since 2008 and with my first pregnancy I craved steak all the time. This pregnancy I’ve been craving chicken, i don’t even like chicken. But I eat it all, am totally fine, then once baby is born that craving is gone forever again. It’s so weird. But I take it as my body telling me I need some nutrient I’m not getting from my plant based meals and luckily my stomach handles it pretty well (destroys me when I’m not pregnant though?!)
She wants all the unhealthy things; digging French fries, tots, anything potato. Feeling averse to greens which used to be my delight. Thankfully fruit - citrus, esp. is a want.
Also, can’t stand the smell of cooking onions right now. It’s not as bad when they’re with something else, but on their own is awful. Used to be such a great smell, but now, no.
I’ve been on a burger and fries kick. The more the burger is dripping the happier I am. I do not normally eat burgers and I definitely don’t go for drippy ones. This kid is crazy.

@tuxielove93 burgers have been my one always satisfying meal this pregnancy. Tying in to my FFFC from last week, I also still always as for some pink in my burger even though all the advice said to make sure they're well done.
eta - I hope this continues so we have burgers like crazy once it starts warming up and summer has arrived!!

I made shepherd's pie with ground lamb for dinner last night and it was so nice to have a different flavor for meat. Also wanting to try liver & onions even though I haven't had them since I was a little girl over at grandma's house.
@inthewoods23@tuxielove93 - burgers have been my go to as well! Which is sooooo unlike me, my husband thinks it’s hilarious but it’s the only thing that feels satisfying. And it must have lettuce, tomato, pickles.
I’m still waking up and needing to have an egg sandwich immediately after my lemon water and before my morning smoothie. I’m hoping in this next trimester I’ll be able to go back to more of my normal foods but we will see!
Anything tomato-y lol Salsa and spaghetti are my big things this whole pregnancy which was the same with my daughter. Other than that I'm not having any cravings that I have to have... I have had a lot more aversions than anything.
i've been enjoying more veggies, which is nice. citrus and strawberries have been delish,. and then i have lots of random moments where i'm like "this thing sounds good" even though its something i eat rarely or haven't had in years. pregnancy is weird! i am back to doing my morning protein shakes which is helping my constipation and is a good protein boost for the day
DH won't let me go out and buy one of those spicy pickles that comes in a plastic pouch because we have 2 or 3 other pickle jars in our fridge he wants me to go through first

This goes for any and all food. Three tubs of ice cream? Doesn’t matter if the only flavor you want is one you don’t have

My DH does the grocery shopping, and I had "berries" on the list. He usually brings home blueberries, but somehow there were fresh cherries! I'm only eating ~10/day, but now I want them all the time. 😋
@velvetblue88 jealous!! I’ve wanted cherries for weeks but no one has had any. Sigh.

My local shop have started selling freshly baked Cheddar and Jalapeño bread and it's literally the best thing I've ever eaten, I wake up thinking about having a buttery slice of bread at 5am

Anyone have any tips for healthyish things to snack on? I am still dealing with nausea and if I snack more often it isn’t as bad but I don’t want to eat a ton of empty calories that way either. So just wondered if anyone had discovered an easy to grab healthy snack to help combat that.
@bearsandbeets7 I've been extra aware of what I've been eating because gaining for 2 is terrifying to me haha. Here are a few things I've been keeping handy for snacks - I have been trying to stay high in protein at an attempt to stay full. Oikos Power Greek yogurt with PB2. Almonds and cheese with a veggie. Those dual packs of a cheese stick and a turkey jerky bar thing. Chocolate rice cakes with peanut butter or PB2. Yasso bars. I premade some "protein bites" to have all week. Just peanut butter, honey, oats, chia seeds, and dark chocolate chips. Fancy bread with cream cheese and Everything Bagel Seasoning.
@bearsandbeets7 I keep fresh fruit on hand for my 3 year old and I've been eating a lot of that lately. Grapes and cheese slices. Apples and PB. Yogurt and blueberries with granola.
I’ll add trail mix, nuts and dried fruit, and hummus and pita or veggies

@bearsandbeets7 Recently I've found that I need to bring 3 or so snacks to work. Today it was a granola bar, a PB&J and a smoothie (w/protein powder) that I made the night before. Does take some prep but then I don't get hangry!
