Re: Getting to Know You 1/11

  • We raised 15 monarch caterpillars into butterflies this August/September. Found them in our feild and brought them in before it got hayed again. My 3 year old was so excited to finally have a "pet" she was so sad each time we let one go.

  • It's impossible to get good photos of everyone together, so you get a montage...these have been taken across 4 different houses over the past 8 years or so lol, but they're all still with me....

Two of my three geriatric triplets.  Charcoal and Tangerine are now almost 16.

I had trouble finding a photo of Semi-Sweet, the other geriatric 16 year old triplet.  Her sister (Charcoal) and brother (Tangerine) are in the background.

A relatively new photo.  This is Gloria Steinem, my 9 month old Great Pyrenees, helping me telework the other day.

Gloria being snuggly and her brother Fred Hampton (~3, mostly a pit bull) being jealous.

    Fred and Charcoal being attention-seeking.

    Gloria, the bed warmer.

    Temporarily chill beasts.

And finally, Charcoal snuggling with my youngest cat, Daenerys StormCat (she's about 8).

  • This is Charlotte Bronte (yes, named for the Charlotte Bronte of Jane Eyre because of her serious observational and just a little bit judgy face). I got her in 2006 and she’s lived with me in Virginia, New Mexico, and now Nebraska. She and her brother, Rumi, were the last two left of a litter that their mom had dropped off at my boss’s doorstep and of course I had to take both. (Rumi was gray and fluffy and passed from FIV complications in 2015.) She’s 16 and also FIV+ but still going strong according to the vet so we’re just enjoying however long we’ve got with her. She loves any kind of nice new bedding, freshly washed sheets, etc. as shown here. She also became a big yoga fan when I started virtual classes in quarantine. She will seriously sit there and listen to the teacher at the start of class, then stretch out and breathe next to me. Sometimes she gets underneath me while I’m planking or alongside my leg when I’m lunging. In my regular classes people will now ask for her if they don’t see her on screen 🤣
  • I have a 10 year old pup named Rolo (because he’s a dachshund and looks like a pack of rolos)! He’s my first baby, a snuggle butt, and the smartest, bestest boy. I love him to pieces. Today, randomly, one of his teeth fell out!!! I’m so freaked out and the vet can’t get him in until next week. So odd, I hope everything’s ok.

  • @theblondebump

  • @runsonoatmeal cracking up at your cat doing yoga with you🤣 love it!
  • My little/fur babies! These 2 are inseparable.. my little one is a 12 Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound named Ivy, and my big one is a 5 year old Boxer/American Bulldog mix named Indi. Indi has actually become an emotional support dog to me as well. She always know if/when I’m in pain, sad, or just not emotionally feeling well. (I think she knows I’m pregnant) she’s always trying to rest her head near my belly. I love how dogs can feel and sense things  ❤️
  • This is Mabel. She’s my old lady. She is for real cray-cray, on a ton of anti anxiety meds and eats doors if I forget to give it to her. She is absolutely a people-puppy though and is so good with my 7 year old step daughter. She’ll be excited for another kiddo.

Clancy will be 12 next month. He is absolutely the one in charge at my house lol. He is such a cuddler at home. We almost lost him last summer when he ate something he shouldn’t have (no idea what), so just happy for any time we get with him.

Babu Frik (any Star Wars fans on here?) is my husband’s foster fail and the reason I’m not supposed to bring kittens home anymore. I used to foster 1-2 litters a year, but Jason can’t stand the idea of them being adopted after we’ve had them so long. Jason thinks Babu is the best thing since sliced bread, but this kitten is kind of a jerk lol. A little worried about him with the baby, because he bites when he doesn’t want to be touched (which is often), but I guess we’ll just keep them separate.

  • @theblondebump Stop it! This makes me want to re-name my dog "Rolo"! haha He's precious!
  • My “FURst” born, my fur baby, Gus! We were actively looking at adopting another pup but then found out we’ll be raising a tiny human instead so the next pup is on the back burner now. I’d still love to adopt another though.

Anyone have any experience getting another dog while pregnant?

There are so many that need to be adopted I’m having a hard time completely giving up on the idea right now, I feel guilty that they need homes! But maybe that’s my hormones talking??

  • These are my fur babies & my human baby (the photo is about 18m old). The grey & white cat is Bob, he is about 10 or so years old. The tortoise shell is Susan and she is 5ish years old.

Bob is tolerant of my daughter. He loves being around me more than he doesn’t like being around my daughter.  :D

Susan used to love my daughter when she was a newborn that didn’t really do much, but since she has become a toddler and started terrorising per Susan, Susan now hides in the cupboard whenever my daughter is awake.

  • Loving all the Fur babies!

  •  This is our 105lb two year old! Her name is Beedu (after the sound the minions make). She is probably the weirdest dog I have ever met. Very opinionated and loves all food except lettuce.
  • This is my fur baby Maple. I grew up in Vermont, so I named her after good ol' VT Maple syrup :) She is 2, and she is my world. It will be quite a transition when baby comes! haha

  • Jumping on the fur baby train here!
This is our pup, Henna. She is the goofiest little shepsky. Her original owner couldn’t keep her, and at 8 weeks, she needed a new home. I was overjoyed to bring her home! It will be four years of Henna on 2/15. <3
  • @leannechristina The heterochromous eyes are spectacular!

  • @runsonanxiety we’re in VT up near the Canadian border!! Hello fellow Vermonter! (Though I am from Maine originally😊) what a cute pup! Vizlas are gorgeous dogs!!
  • This is our rescue pup, Hobi. We got him in March 2020 and he’s been my bestie ever since! He had a rough life in Texas but we spoil him like crazy♥️
  • @raychelwhite east or west side of the vt Canadian border? I'm in nh that far north. Well I was further north until 1.5 years ago, we're an hour and a half south now.
