Re: UO Thursday 1/20

  • Unsweet tea > sweet tea

    Come at me! 😆
  • Loading the player...
  • I agree with you @sunshineandlemons.  I'm not much of a sweet drink person though.  I much prefer lighter or more herbal flavors.

My somewhat related UO is that I will take all of the candy, chocolate, ice cream, sorbet type stuff but I can 100% leave most of the baked sweets.
  • @sunshineandlemons You know… it really depends on my mood. I either hate unsweet tea and love sweet tea or it’s the other way around. It changes day to day lol.

@zwink1 Omg. Baked sweets/pastries are my absolute favorite sweet food (along with chocolate)! I could leave most candy and ice cream.

  • @sunshineandlemons I'm 100% with you! Unsweet tea is way better. Though, I do love a good peach iced tea.
@zwink1 I'm split on that one. I will choose ice cream every day but I loveeeee pastries like donuts.

My UO is that I am indifferent to Harry Potter. I understand the hype when everything first came out but I wouldn't choose to watch the movies and I only ready the first book.
  • @sunshineandlemons that would personally offend any southern person lol, I can’t take overly sweet tea but I can’t take completely unsweetened.

My UO is similar in I can not stand hot tea in any form.
  • We’re gonna do drinks? Cause I’m really unpopular.

I don’t like soda/soft drinks. I don’t like cold tea period. I don’t like coffee or any coffee variation. I don’t drink milk, even alternative milks. I hate flavored water. And I don’t drink alcohol.

None of the above are a health choice. I literally don’t like the taste. I was the weirdo twelve year old begging for water at the birthday party because all they had was soda.

    Baby #3 Due: July 7th, 2022
(maybe I only ovulate in October XD)
  • Okay I'm only saying this one because my cousin just had her baby a week ago but UO... wtf with push presents?? Her husband gave her a garnet ring (january birthstone) and I'm just like, if you're going to gift me a push present make it a massage or something pampering!!

I'm also pretty minimal with the jewelry I wear so eventually if I was gifted a bracelet, necklace, or ring as a push present I probably wouldn't wear it much after a while. It's exactly what happened with the bangle bracelet DH got me as a wedding gift.

  • @inthewoods23 umm what the heck is a push present? Like, "good job giving birth, here's a gift!" How about the gift of caring for a newborn and supporting your partner postpartum?!

I am also not a jewelry person. My UO is related to that. When I got engaged I didn't want a ring (or a classic proposal). Those traditions just felt one-sided and didnt feel right for me. Luckily my husband was on the same page. But everyone thought it was odd and would always look at my hand,  searching for a ring. And be like "how did he propose?" And I'd be like, "umm, we just talked about it!". When my brother in law got engaged he gave his partner a ring and she gave him a sword. Now thats egalitarian!
  • I love hot tea- grew up drinking it with my grandmother (I grew up in the mid-Atlantic), but that concept horrifies everyone down here in the south. They all ask if I’m into herbal teas or something. Lol

My UO is that I dislike most chocolate bars. If it’s not Reece’s or dark chocolate covered coconut eggs, I’m out. And those both have to be accompanied by a glass of milk or it’s a no-go.
  • Loving all the different opinions on tea! I can drink sweet things but I grew up on plain hot or iced tea and to me, adding sugar totally changes the flavor!

@twentythree19 I’m picky about chocolate too. I pretty much eat plain Hershey’s milk chocolate (or Reese’s, but I really only like the holiday ones where the PB to chocolate ratio is higher for PB). My husband used to buy me chocolates for Valentine’s Day and I just would never eat them. Too many crazy flavors for me and I just didn’t like the chocolate. But, no milk here!
  • @zinnia19 yes that's essentially it! I told DH I would want a massage and he's like "the baby is your gift, I'm not buying you anything!". Sad haha 😆

  • My British ass is just clutching my pearls reading the tea controversy, an American friend told me that everyone heats their tea in the microwave and I'm still not over it
  • @rosegoldg, I've had a stove top kettle for a while, but finally just got an electric kettle this year.  1) I have no idea why I waited this long, 2) I now agree that heating your water for tea in the microwave is... problematic.  Lol.  I did it for years (like most Americans).
  • @inthewoods23 - haha DH got me a birthstone bracelet when DD was born and I love it! I plan on getting one for each kid (but I love jewelry and wear it everyday)!
  • @rosegoldg Guilty! The worst part is, I have an electric kettle too. 🤦‍♀️
  • @rosegoldg does using hot water from the coffee maker count as a tea sin? That's what I used to always do but honestly with the pandemic it's faster to use the microwave to make hot water :#

@feather_heather I tend to have my few daily favorites with jewelry. I have a pretty good sized collection of necklaces but never put them all in rotation (plus a good number are the "special occasion" type). I probably will want a necklace with baby's birthstone - especially with how much work and time it took to conceive this guy! But I'll just wait for Christmas.
