Our last name tends to pair poorly with most names and even worse with nicknames...Bow.
We have running jokes about naming baby something like Rain, Bill, Ty, Al and so on.
Any suggestions for names that either don't have have a NN or won't sound like a pun with the last name? or do we just lean onto it and name him Hunter or Archer?

Its hard to determine your style from the rejected ones listed, but I think most multisyllable names would work. Just Google them with a couple spellings first.
