Upcoming Appointments or Results: Jan 31 for anatomy scan, feb 1 for 20 week checkup.
How are you feeling? Pretty good, but have to call my doctor today.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I hate being pregnant this time around and I’m really struggling with it. Rave: both my partner and my son have been able to feel her kick and it makes me very happy that they were able to share the experience so soon.
Questions: okay, so last night we ordered dinner and it wasn’t ready yet so I waited. I was standing there for 30 minutes (which like I grocery shop, wash dishes, etc etc for way longer than that so being in my feet for 30 minutes isn’t a new thing). Anyways, right before my food got ready I started feeling very nauseous and then my vision went away like I could only see light and dark (thank goodness I am very familiar with where I was) and remained like that until I got to my car and sat down and I realized trying to talk to my partner that I also couldn’t really hear. I had eaten three hours prior, otherwise I feel totally fine, has anyone had this happen?
@marionberry19 That sounds really frightening, I’m sorry you experienced that. Are you someone who also has trouble with low blood pressure? That’s what that sounds like to me from when I’ve had that happen before. I wasn’t pregnant at the time but I was on a plane. I don’t think sudden blood pressure drops while pregnant are unusual, but obviously I am not a medical professional so I’d mention it to your ob (assuming that’s what you’re planning to call for?).
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 25th, 17w2d

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Jan 26th for anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: I feel like a broken record but I continue to struggle with my relationship with food. We had a nice dinner out on Saturday before going to the orchestra and it was FIVE HOURS of painful bloating and intense burping. Between constantly feeling physically awful and a general fear of all the unknowns and expecting to feel isolated and forgotten, I’m just really unsure how to have a healthy mindset about pregnancy and birth.
Rants/Raves: On the positive side, the orchestra was wonderful. It was the conductor’s 40th season anniversary and they let him choose how he wanted to celebrate, which was with a tribute to John Williams. (If you don’t know the name, he’s possibly the most celebrated film score composer of all time. Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc. Truly just an amazing musical career.)
Questions: Anyone live far from family with a fairly small social network? Did you have any strategies for a support network? I’ve always struggled with making friends (I have very intense social anxiety), though I’ve really made an effort in the last few years to work on this. Nonetheless they’re all relatively new friendships that I would feel awkward being like “Hey I will need support in a few months, thanks 😊”, you know?
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 13, started 19w today
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Feb 1st - 20w scan
How are you feeling?: A ton of mood swings lately - where I feel super happy & then completely low the next day. It may also be the pandemic & the constant fear of catching covid. The main concern around it is no one knows the complications surrounding this so we have been keeping our distance. 🤷🏻♀️
Rants/Raves: Rant: our golden swallowed a bone so had to undergo an emergency surgery...this week was full of tears n anxiety! Rave : for an amazing partner who literally carried lunch bags with fruits n food while we waited at the ER so that I did not skip my meals in this stressful situation! Just too cute.
Questions: 1. Increased vaginal discharge that started about 4 days ago. TMI - its yellowish at times, thick white - no not worried but at times it just feels like clear liquid discharge n its constant. My fear is everywhere I read Dr.Google says it could be leaking amniotic fluid n am shit scared now. I have a panty liner n it does not soak the pad yet. Left my nurse a VM so will see.
2. What all do they test at the 20w scan - i am aware of the anatomy of the baby but do they also test my fluid levels, fundal height etc?
Thanks a ton ladies.... We are halfway there!! Woot woot ♥️
@pinkkillersheep We do...family is all back in India & we are hoping that at least someone can come over during this pandemic! 🤞🏼 We do have a ton of friends out here but again, everyone is busy with their lives n toddlers.
We are going to start looking into an inhouse nanny for a few - maybe just part time after my husband is done with his paternity leave.
Meal prep & maybe start a meal train amongst our friends - dropping off one meal for us so that is taken care of coz mamas do need to eat well & right during the recovery period. So far that's our strategy ....
@pinkkillersheep I agree that it sounds like a blood pressure issue but I have no history of issues with my blood pressure pregnant or otherwise. Turns out the OB is closed today so I will have to wait on any answers.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: today. Had my anatomy scan!
How are you feeling?: sick. Still have food aversion. I mean all food makes me sick.
Rants/Raves: no longer considered a high risk pregnancy!!! So I’m very happy!
Questions: my internal struggle is currently feeling like I have to choose between career and growing my family! Feeling like I might not get a promotion bc I’m pregnant. Why does this societal pressure exist?! My husband does not relate at all.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Thursday for anatomy scan.
How are you feeling?: Much more energy, still occasional nausea but so much more bearable. Lots of pelvic pressure pain, but overall pretty good.
Rants/Raves: I went to two prenatal yoga classes this past week and it was amazing. Also nice to be around other pregnant people.
Questions: What to expect at the anatomy scan?
@marionberry19 so sorry that happened to you! and i'm sorry your clinic is closed so you can't ask any questions today. i have no experience with anything like that but wishing you the best and some answers soon!
@pinkkillersheep do you ever take Tums? I think they are a lifesaver, not just with acid reflux but also with burping. I've also been having SUCH painful bloating and gas pains lately, my stomach feels so tight and I have horrible cramps. Big fan of John Williams, sounds like a beautiful night!
@mama_mau we have the same due date! i am also a FTM. I hope your golden is fine now. And also TMI but I have been shocked by how much discharge I have... I just feel wet down there all the time, plus every time I cough or sneeze I pee myself a little, and I'm sure that's only going to get worse!
Thanks to @KFrob I just bought some maternity tops on Seraphine - excited to try and still make an effort to look nice as I start to get bigger and bigger lol. Thanks for the tip!
@mama_mau I’ve noticed increased discharge but not enough to cause me concern. I generally try to ascribe to the belief that I am the norm not the exception when it comes to health related things. Not to discount your concerns though! Always a good idea to ask your ob if there’s something that doesn’t seem right to you. I’m jealous of your meal train plan. There just aren’t any friends I would feel comfortable asking for that kind of support, so I’m hoping to figure out what community places exist. The ones I’ve found don’t seem to have survived Covid @lilbubb Hope the anatomy scan went well! Sucks you feel pressure around your career. It’s definitely front of mind for me too. @shoarmie99 I’ve tried Tums in the past but haven’t noticed much of a difference. My ob prescribed Pepcid during my last appointment but I’m not sure that’s helping at all either. I started a prenatal yoga class too! Hoping to make some potential mom friends!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: January 26th for anatomy scan!
How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall! Some aches and pains, but otherwise just fine. I'm starting to feel the baby kick a little more, which is fantastic.
Rants/Raves: Not sure I have any this week. It's been a quiet one.
Questions: None at the moment.
@mama_mau The discharge has been unreal this go around.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: MFM on Wednesday...my MFM is now checking my cervix every 2 weeks to ensure it's not shortening and there's no sign of pre-term labor. I know it's necessary, but I would much rather not get undressed every 2 weeks and would prefer just the belly scans.
How are you feeling?: Large and tired. Turning from side to side at night is getting uncomfortable. I feel like a whale turning over.
Rants/Raves: Rave - this is the first year our company gave us MLK day off, so I thoroughly enjoyed a 3-day weekend, especially since this week will be crazy at work for me. Rant - my FIL keeps managing to piss me off every time I see him. He's a very difficult person by nature, but I've always been able to find common ground with him, but apparently not while pregnant now. He is continuously being a royal ahole and I've told DH that I am thisclose to blowing up at him. Today he decided to give my son a lecture for the smallest thing, wouldn't drop it and thought it was smart to argue with a 5 year old. This can count towards my MBF post as well.
Questions: None I can think of
@marionberry19 that sound scary and I'm glad all turned out ok. Hopefully your doctor can answer this for you as well. I never had anything like this, but I've had a few dizzy spells over the last few weeks. Most recent was a few days ago. I was organizing the living room and for a second my eyesight got spotty, I got dizzy and kind of lost my footing. I was next to a couch, so I was able to balance myself and sit down before I fell. I never had this before and don't typically have low blood pressure either. I will also ask at this week's appointment.

So I ended up in the ER tonight with a resting heart rate of 136. All blood work and tests came back normal. I was given 2 bags of IV fluid and heart rate didn’t come down at all. They discharged me and said to talk to my OB in the morning.
@marionberry19 oh wow! So sorry that had to happen. This was the night after your other incident I believe, did they say if it was related? I hope your OB can provide some answers. Hopefully this was the last of it.

How are you feeling?: pregnancy wise great but I have a stomach bug I caught from the 3 year old so that’s making me want to die
Rants/Raves: WTF body. In the middle of throwing up last night I had a migraine with aura start.
Questions:
I feel like I can’t keep up with posting and reading/replying and need go through and tag everyone when I get on my work computer tomorrow.
@marionberry19 I hope you’re feeling better, sound so like you’ve had a scary couple of days. I hope your doctor has some logical answers for and a solution.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: anatomy scan was today! All the body parts are where they should be. And apparently I grow them big because it was measuring a week and a half ahead, but no moving due date.
How are you feeling?: it hurts to walk. Physical therapy got canceled and moved this week and I really miss it.
Rants/Raves: Rant-I feel bad for my OB. Her son just tested positive for Covid but the hospital told her as long as she doesn’t have symptoms she doesn’t have to test. And there’s already a doctor out with Covid. Uuugh just a bad frustrating situation. Rave-everything looks good and baby looks chunky even though I was so sick on December. It’s a relief.
@pinkkillersheep I like John Williams. My Mom was my main support. She helped me a lot with my first baby and took care of her when I was at work. Not having my Mom this time will be hard. Thankfully, I have a brother when I need help from time to time.
@mama_mau I also have increased discharge and from what I read in my pregnancy books, it is normal.
@Tulips29 That would bother me too if someone gave my child a lecture. Does your FIL visit often?
@marionberry19 That sounds scary. I hope your OB was able to give you some answers.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Anatomy Scan next week.
How are you feeling?: Heartburn, sciatica and just ready to get the anatomy scan over with.
Rants/Raves: I have been feeling the baby move which is awesome.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Monthly next week, Anatomy scan Feb 7.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. My ADHD/pregnancy brain has honestly been the worst part of the last couple of weeks. I literally lose things mid-task and it takes me forever to get started on things I need to do because I get side tracked a million times.
Rants/Raves: See above re: having the attention span of a goldfish. Raves - Tried baking with new (to me) King Arthur keto flour. So far, it's an amazing replacement and it's so nice to have the option to make a pizza or a soft pretzel or whatever I'm craving without crazy amounts of carbs/energy crash/no fiber problem. It's also really high protein, so helping me get in my protein despite only wanting fruits and veggies for regular meals. It's $$$, but worth it for the occasional treat.
@romeoandjuliet146 we see our inlaws every weekend pretty much, but he's gotten pretty unbearable last few weeks. This incident from last weekend ended up in a major fight between us and him, where he stormed out and we haven't spoken to him since Sunday. We'll see if he shows up this weekend.
@hillies22 are you doing keto now or just using this flour as a replacement? I did keto pre-pregnancy but never found a true flour replacement. Almond flour just doesn't have the same consistency.
So a bit of a rant, but at my MFM appointment I asked if next one in 2 weeks will be the anatomy scan since I'll be 19w6d. They said probably not because they may not see everything needed at that point. I asked why as I see many of you here are getting yours between 18-19 weeks and was told technically it could be done early, but there's a high chance of not seeing all the details so they prefer to hold off until 20+ weeks. So they can attempt in 2 weeks but likely the full anatomy be done at 22 weeks. I'm a bit annoyed because I planned on telling at work at the 20 week mark and kind of don't want to wait until 22 weeks. I have a new team who needs to start planning for my leave, so 2 weeks may play a big role here and I don't want my big boss even thinking I let them down by waiting this long (I know legally I'm not obligated to tell this early, but I'm in HR and there's a lot of planning that goes into someone's leave so wanted to give them as much notice as possible). End rant.

Ditto on hoping @marionberry19 is doing ok. Been thinking about her since her last update. @Tulips29 Now I’m wondering if it’s really ok that we’re doing mine so early (18w4d). I kind of assumed they wouldn’t have scheduled it if it was a problem? I suppose if they don’t get the info they need they can redo it the next month.
@pinkkillersheep so it sounded it like technically can do it early, but there's a chance they won't see everything. I would have at least liked for them to say we'll attempt and see what we can get. If not, we will re-do in 2 weeks. But they were just set on doing it at 22 weeks and I had to push them a bit to try at 20. So we'll see what happens in 2 weeks now.

How are you feeling?: Feeling fine, just tired. Work is extremely intense right now and I'm just struggling to stay afloat. Hoping I can catch up next week after I make a big presentation to the CFO tomorrow.
Rants/Raves: Rant: We had a plumbing issue a few weeks ago that caused it to leak into our first floor and basement. We had a contractor all lined up to start yesterday but after I texted them at 10:30 to check in, they claimed they had a "family emergency" and that they would start today. I totally understood and said it was fine, but today they are also a no-show and haven't bothered to respond to my text. I know things happen but we are paying over $2k for their services and are not feeling confident they will do a good job if they can't even communicate. Meanwhile our ceiling and walls continue to be water stained...
Questions: Has anyone ever heard of someone discovering a "bright spot"/calcification in their baby's heart that was discovered during their anatomy scan? We have one and my MFM assured me we should not worry because our bloodwork came back just fine and it's very common (they see it 20 times a week), but I'm of course worrying about it.
I went to a fetal specialist at 17 weeks because they thought my last baby had Down syndrome (he didn’t). The pictures were perfect, 17 weeks is not too early for high quality, guess it depends on the type of screening though.
@Tulips29 sorry for my delayed response - totally meant to respond when I read this a few days ago. We did keto about 3 years ago and both lost 30-40 lbs on it, and felt great. After that and even now, we both maintain a low carb/very limited refined carb (but not necessarily high fat) lifestyle and found that we just feel better that way. We don't tend to gain any additional weight around the holidays, etc., so we've maintained for the last few years. Almond flour isn't a great replacement in a lot of things, but there's some good recipes out there (check out gnom-gnom.com if you haven't already). But now that I've discovered the King Arthur keto flour that's kind of a game changer! Also, carbquik flour makes the best quick cheesy, fluffy biscuits ever. We made pizza dough with the KA flour this weekend and it tasted just like any other whole wheat pizza crust.

Questions: not right now
@mama_mau I also have increased discharge and from what I read in my pregnancy books, it is normal.

Questions:
End rant.

@Tulips29 Now I’m wondering if it’s really ok that we’re doing mine so early (18w4d). I kind of assumed they wouldn’t have scheduled it if it was a problem? I suppose if they don’t get the info they need they can redo it the next month.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had our anatomy scan on Tuesday, OB appointment on Monday
@Tulips29 You definitely don't need that kind of stress. I hope things get better.
