What to eat...

I never had this issue with my first, but with this one so far nothing sounds good.     I'm semi hungry but everything just sounds soo blah any suggestions on what to try??

Re: What to eat...

  • I've been big on spicy things.  But I'm always big on spicy things, so that's nothing new lol.

  • Anything that can be a kind of pallette for different flavor combos is where I'm at. A couple of waffles or some oatmeal with fruit and cinnamon have been solid breakfast choices so far. I've been doing eggs for some lunches when I'm home and those are also good for adding whatever veggies or seasoning. Toast, too, with whatever.
  • @runsonoatmeal I feel like you would be a good person to ask: I have been eating oatmeal almost every morning. I had a routine doctors appointment one week before finding out I was pregnant and my cholesterol was a bit high. I don’t eat terribly, but I wasn’t really eating breakfast and I decided to start. Then of course I found out I was pregnant and now I have to eat breakfast! I’m mostly doing oatmeal with blueberries, peanut better, and cinnamon and a little honey for sweetness. Just because that’s what sounds good. But what kind of oatmeal should I use? I’m just using the instant kind (not the packets, but the big container of plain instant oats). I figure there’s a better option! I’m not into all night over night oats though. What do you recommend?
  • Hi! I'm a nutritionist. Oatmeal is a great option no matter what kind you choose. It's filled with fiber, protein and vitamin B6. Some instatnt oatmeal is also fortified with iron and folic acid. The difference in oatmeal is how it's processed before being sent out to the markets. Steal oats take the longest to cook because they are not smashed into that shape that instant oats have and they are not precooked. But whichever you choose is a great option!
  • @khaines92 same! It's so hard to eat when everything sounds super blah! I have this thing too where it sounds good so I make it and by the time I have it I'm front of my I can't eat it. Check out the "what my pregnant self is eating" thread. There's a lot of inspiration there. My go to options are fruit but that's just a starter because without the protein it does last long. What I'm having for lunch today is a grilled cheese sandwich with a slice of deli meat inside (it gets heated through so ok to eat). when it comes off the pan add sliced pickles and dip in BBQ sauce. Such a good combo of flavors!!!
  • @magnolia209 everything @esmababy3 says! I’ve been doing old fashioned oats recently since they’ve been easier on my stomach and faster to cook that steel cut oats, but pre-pregnancy I loved the substance of steel cut and that they keep me feeling full for longer. Oatmeal with berries and / or bananas and cinnamon has been my jam, and peanut butter or almond butter when I’m up for it. (Weirdly, I haven’t been interested in either peanut or almond butter lately and they’re usually daily
    go-tos …)

I love honey nut cheerios with a cut up banana and raspberries in them! Also, toast with raspberry jam - I like the unsweetened ones I've found at farmer's markets!

@runsonoatmeal @leannechristina Thank you!!! Morning sickness has kicked in now and these are among the only things that sound good. I’m definitely surviving mostly on honey-nut Cheerios at the moment! Oatmeal is great. I ran out and am going to the store today. I need more healthy snack ideas. The only other one I have is rice cake with peanut butter. I am totally craving peanut butter in everything.

I have hours of zoom meetings (camera on) so I need snacks I can discreetly munch on - fruit and nuts, etc!
  • @magnolia209 not sure if it’s quite what you’re looking for, but I’ve melted peanut butter and put it on popcorn before. Sometimes throw in chocolate chips too if I’m feeling it.

While I'm sure it's delicious, my aversions just made this face:   :#

  • @kboydbowman so far the aversions haven’t kicked in for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I definitely want stuff more strongly than before lol (last night it was little Caesar’s crazy bread). Fingers crossed it stays that way because the nausea Im feeling means the possibility is definitely there.
