Covid booster vaccine

Did anyone take the COVID booster vaccine in their pregnancy? I am little confused whether to take it or not. Wanted to check if it is considered safe to take the booster shot during the second trimester. Any information provided on this is very useful.

  • @knottie I asked my doctor about it and she said to absolutely get the booster during any trimester. Any potential side affects are minimal and outweigh getting covid. I got it when I was about 10 weeks along. Was tired the next day but didn't have any other side effects.
  • I also got it at about 10 weeks along and had very limited side effects. I wanted to get it at 10 weeks, so that if we require a 4th dose in 6 months, I would be able to get it shortly before giving birth I'm hopes that it will offer some protection to new baby for their first few months of life.
  • My friend is getting her booster in a week since she will be in second tri as of Saturday. We asked our doctor and I had my mother in law who is a nurse practitioner look into it as well and research is showing that if you get the vaccine/booster in second tri, baby will get the antibodies too.
  • Get the booster as soon as you can. I got mine at 7 or 8 weeks and was totally fine. My OB said some people prefer to wait until 2nd tri if you've had strong reactions to the intial vaccine just in terms of managing side effects.
Although some antibiodies can be passed to baby if you get it later in pregnancy, we don't have the data yet on how  much gets to baby and how HELPFUL it even is for baby. It is risky for you and baby during pregnancy so get as soon as you can!
  • My doctor said to get it as soon as I could. I got it around 8 weeks.

1st birth through years of trying and the wonder drug letrozole.
    Second a great surprise.

  • I didn't say this before but i'll add my side effects were minimal at best and similar to a lesser degree than the first round.  I felt a little more easily fatigued, although hard to tell if it was a side effect of the vaccine or pregnancy. I got mine with my flu vaccine the day before thanksgiving and continued to care for my toddler and made meals for thanksgiving just fine
  • @runnergirl2018 You had both right before thanksgiving??? You are way braver than I am. 😂

  • @moreamoozzarella we hadn't told anyone in the family yet about the pregnancy so i figured it was a good excuse to not be feeling well without anyone being suspicious!
  • I got the booster around 9 weeks-- I asked my OB and she said "You haven't been boosted yet?!?!" I am super glad I did because it was right before cases skyrocketed in my area, and now Ive had several known contacts and not gotten sick myself.
