It isn't called geriatric pregnancy but AMA now (Advanced Maternal Age)
I was 37 when I had my first and while considered AMA, none of the testing showed any concern. I requested a midwife only OB care and that's what I got. My practice is very advanced in terms of care for women so they rely on science and common sense and not on stigmatizing women further.
Don't forget to advocate for yourself! If your blood pressure, NIPT tests, ultrasounds, blood draws, etc are all normal, congratulations, you have a normal pregnancy despite being AMA!

> Hi! I'm 43. Just found out this week that I'm 6 wks pregnant, with our first. My husband and I did fertility treatments for a couple of yrs. At the end, the Dr. told us, I have low quality eggs and blocked tubes that we need to use donor eggs and maybe even a sergeant. Which we didn't want to go that route so we gave up, I stopped tracking and stopped taking all the vitamins. And here we are 2 yrs later with this huge surprise! I got my bloodwrk done yesterday and I won't knw my hcg levels until Monday. And she said it wasn't necessary to do a early ultrasound so I have have to wait to Feb 8. I'm just anxious with block tubes it maybe ectopic and plus I had covid and ran a high fever for a couple of days. I'm not feeling to many symptoms other then being tired and alot of cramping. I'm so afraid to get excited abt this. Anyone can relate?
Oh my @sumdavis do I relate! I am 40, husband is 45. This is our first. We planned it and had been doing ovulation tracking. We were just getting underway with a specialist when my period didn't arrive and we had a positive test. I'm only 4 weeks 5 days and it feels like every single day is the longest of my life. My first appointment is not until 2/23. The doctor was unconcerned with may age and still doesn't want to see me until 8 weeks. I've only had bloating, acne, constipation, and occasional twinges in my abdomen. I'm not particularly tired and I have no nausea. I'm so scared that the lack of symptoms means something is wrong. But, my sister had almost no morning sickness with either of her two. My husband keeps telling me that it is all out of my control and to try not to think about it. How do you not think about it? It is literally all I think about, especially every time I pee (wiping is now scary -- sorry if that's TMI), every time I eat something (I apparently was eating soft cheeses daily -lol), and any time I feel anything different in any part of my body. I want to see the doctor and know some things for sure and then I want it to be 36 weeks from now with a baby in my arms.

My name is Vanessa and I’m 41. I’m so grateful for this thread and to relate to mothers-to-be around my age!
I’m 8 weeks pregnant with our first child. We unsuccessfully completed a round of IVF in the fall, which left me feeling quite hopeless. Now that I’m pregnant, I’m trying to balance optimism with worry.
