Monday B*tchfest 01/03

I’ve never started a discussion…hope I did it right!

Re: Monday B*tchfest 01/03

  • So, my family was supposed to get together today. At our place. There are 14 of us total. Local restrictions only allow gatherings of 10, but we were going to “break the rules”. Then my nephew developed a fever yesterday, but they didn’t tell us til this morning. So, my husband and I decided to cancel last minute. I feel like poo about it. It’s likely nothing (rapid test says negative), but we can’t risk it with our own young kids and all the new daycare screenings, restrictions, and multiple daily temperature checks. Even if it’s not covid, having ANY symptom is treated essentially the same as having the actual virus. My (current) youngest is under 2 so not permitted to do rapid tests. If she developed even a mild fever she’d be disallowed to attend daycare for a full week. Bitching because I’m SO. OVER. COVID. Please someone tell me I made the right call (even if you don’t believe I did…).

  • Also a covid b fest. One of DD’s teachers tested positive on Tuesday night and daycare was closed the rest of the week. DD spiked a fever and started coughing Saturday. I feel stupid bc we did a couple things with family before Saturday. We’ve never had a direct exposure before and with everyone in the family vaccinated, I honestly just forgot 🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyway my BF today is that we couldn’t get into the ped till 10:30 today to get her tested, and it’s always a sh*t show when DH and I try to juggle her around and work. She’s currently banging on my office door and I’m ignoring her lol. I’m just glad DH’s boss told him to stay home because I honestly don’t think he would have otherwise.
I’m hoping her test is negative but I’m not very optimistic. We just need to know ASAP so we can figure out our work weeks and I can move the AS that’s supposed to be Wednesday. Is this over yet???
  • @annashaf absolutely the right call as unfortunately with the new variant people are not testing positive until they’ve had symptoms for several days. I’ve personally heard of several people not turning a test positive until between day 3-5 of symptoms. (It’s a nightmare with the new (US) guidelines for quarantine ending on day 5… of viral load isn’t high enough to turn a test until then, how could they possibly not be contagious anymore at that point?)
@b_1029 I’m really sorry that you’re dealing with this and hopefully your DD will be feeling better soon. I can’t imagine all the juggling people have had to do with work and daycare through all of this
  • @annashaf def the right choice!! Better to postpone gathering instead of the possibility of missing a full week of daycare and juggling that!

@b_1029 that sucks, hopefully she’s negative and you don’t have to do any rearranging!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’ll do a Rona Bitchfest too!!! My moms bday is Dec. 27th, so usually every year after doing Christmas with our own family at home, we try to scoot up there between Xmas and back to school to visit for her bday and they can see the kids. Often ends up being NYE/day. Well, my daddy had symptoms last week and couldn’t get an appt for a test until Thursday. He didn’t get the results until Friday morning. He was negative thank God and just has a horrible sinus infection but by that time they had already told me not to come and we’d figure out another time to visit. I was fine with not going bc obviously the very LAST thing I want is to be pregnant and sick. But I know my mom is disappointed and that sucks… she’s also a drama Queen so of course not having a bunch of people and fuss over to celebrate her bday just gives her a reason to bitch about everything. SO. OVER. RONA. I just want shit to go back to normal. Two years of this crap is enough to sink anybody’s mental health before it ever touches their physical health!!!

  • @annashaf yeah, that’s a good idea for sure. I won’t hang with anyone unless we have been tested and they have been too. I won’t take risks if someone is sick I won’t be going anywhere near them nor in the same house lol. I will say the whole temperature checks and getting my son checked into daycare has definitely become a process. A process I’m not too fond of but that I know keeps me and my son and the other kids and parents safe.

I’m gonna switch this convo a little if folks don’t mind… my Monday b*tch fest is that I took dear son to daycare and I feel like the drivers today were friggin horrible, I had a guy run a red light as I was turning into an intersection and he almost hit the side of my vehicle where my son was I totally went into mom mode and pulled over to make sure my son was alright. I can’t stand folks that drive like sh*t heads. I really can’t….
  • Rona BF part 2… DD has covid 😩
  • Omg @b_1029 I'm so sorry!!! Sending prayers that the symptoms are mild for DD and no one else in your house catches it.
  • @b_1029 NOOOOO!!! I’m so sorry 😞 FX her symptoms stay mild and no one else catches it in your family 💜💜💜

  • @b_1029 oh no! Hopefully it's mild for her and a quick recovery!

@stephk2120 ugh that's so frustrating and scary!
  • @b_1029 oh no! Hope she recovers quickly and others didn’t catch it too!! F*ck covid.
  • @b_1029 I’m soooo sorry to hear this, I truly hope she gets better soon, I’ll say a prayer for her :(

@pajamstagrams Yeah, it was scary! People really need to be more careful. Though I understand folks frustration with the red lights down here they take fooooorrrrrreeeevvvvveeeerrrrr to turn green, but, that’s still no excuse to break the law.

Thanks all. It’s gonna be a longggg week of juggling her back and forth with DH. I’ve gotten zero done today. She only wants me so I assume she’s not feeling super great even though she plays like normal.
My OB office said I can still come Wednesday for the AS assuming I don’t have symptoms. I feel weird about it so my MIL is dropping off some at home tests from
her hospital’s lab for us to do.eta  I have no idea if it’s too early or not. I’m so tired of trying to figure all this out.
  • Sorry to hear about all the sickness/positive covid cases! Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

My BF is to wild children 😬 I swear, someone just mainlined sugar to my kids today based on the way they’re just bouncing off the walls, but they’re all super emotional, too. Just a precursor to when they’re all teenagers I’m assuming lol. DH and I are ready to barricade ourselves in our room and just let them take control of the house
  • @b_1029 oh no, so sorry to hear! I hope she gets better quickly and you all continue to stay negative and symptom-free!
  • @b_1029 oh no!! Poor DD! I hope the week goes quickly, the symptoms are mild and you are able to take care of yourself as well.
  • @b_1029 OH noooo! Sorry to hear. Hope you stay healthy and DD is feeling better soon!

My b-fest is that just as I predicted, my husband ignored his mom long enough that she started messaging me asking when she can come after babies. We ended up telling her we have no idea when they will come so we can't give her an answer. Then she was complaining that people want to schedule vacations to visit them and she needs to know so there are no scheduling conflicts.. umm your friends vacations don't mean shit to me or my delivery of my babies. Sorry not sorry.

@b_1029 I'm so sorry to hear DD is sick... hoping she is better soon and that you also stay healthy!

@jackdetroit I have no words lol... I think you handled it well!

@stephk2120 That's so scary! Glad you are all ok. When DD was a baby I was driving home with her in the backseat and a woman in oncoming traffic decided it was a great time to start texting on her phone... while driving. She started drifting into our lane with her head down staring at her phone. I had no where to go and was hugging the 5 ft snowbank beside us, hoping she would look up and realize what the hell she was doing. She finally did and swerved back into her lane. It was all just a matter of seconds but felt like hours in that moment.

My b-fest is just that I wish there were some parents working in our government because it really doesn't seem like any of them are parents at all. I don't mind that they decided to switch back to online learning for everyone's safety... but a little more than 36 hours notice would have been nice. (edited because I can't count at 6AM lol)
