No weight gain yet

Hello dear mamas,

I am having such anxiety issues because I am in my 16th week (first pregnancy, with a history of 2 prior miscarriages) and have not gained any weight more than what I weigh normally. I am really concerned because even though my nausea has subsided (except for certain occasions) I don't see a bump nor have any other symptoms. I am so worried if the baby is doing fine, can't wait till my next appointment. Can you someone please help tell me what symptoms they had during 16th-17th week to assure the pregnancy is going fine? I feel so lost and concerned given no weight gain and no prominent bump or symptoms.

Thank you ❤️

Re: No weight gain yet

  • I am 15 weeks 4 days and I have lost a total of 8 lbs this pregnancy since my first checkup at 7 weeks. A ton of women do not show until later in their pregnancy and I am sure that had I not already had a kid I would also not be showing now based on losing weight instead of gaining.

  • Also, when was your last appointment as it should only have been a few week ago, no?
  • Indeed my appointment was 3 weeks ago and the next one is coming up next week. I also heard that from one of my friend that she lost weight in her 1st trimester because of no appetite and nausea. But with me I am eating fine and still not showing anything. However there are other stressors I have on the background ongoing because of which I am unable to take it easy at the moment. Oof when will I ever start to enjoy my pregnancy, gosh!
  • @mango_michigan give yourself some room to not enjoy pregnancy. For a lot of people, it’s not easy and the pressure to have a pregnancy be a certain way makes it even tougher. Hang in there.
  • @mango_michigan I didn't gain wait until my 17th or 18th week of pregnancy with my first and I'm currently 14 weeks and haven't gained anything. Don't worry. The weight will come.

  • That is so true @fluteling as it is pregnancy is not so easy for a lot of us and on top of that the mindset of others that it needs to be this way or that way is too much to bear at times. Thanks, hanging in there ❤️

@binxybaby oh that's a relief to hear from you that it's not a problem so far. Thank you, I hope to keep up with good diet and those to show up on the scale sometime.
  • @mango_michigan Baby is so little at this point its mostly your body adjusting to pregnancy. Once baby starts getting bigger and needing more resources, it'll happen. There's a lot contributing to weight gain -- Baby, amniotic fluid, blood volume, etc. Not just baby.

  • Im 16 weeks and not nearly as many symptoms since the nausea has disappeared. Im still 3 pounds from my starting weight due to nausea. If your bump isn't showing it could mean you have stronger ab muscles. Mine took awhile the first time to show but I popped sooner since second progressed pregnancy. Hang in there, mama.
