I hope you can find a perfect name soon!

    @achanceintime
Sounds like you’re ‘words of affirmation’ too.
You’re definitely not being too negative, grandparents get excited and sometimes need to temper their expectations.
My mom expected to be watching my son a lot more than she does, but she tends to have a few of her own health issues on top of trying to look after my dad who has stage 4 cancer. She used to get very jealous of my MIL being able to watch DS more, but now most of the time she realizes she couldn’t have helped out if she wanted to. It’s become even more obvious this pregnancy to the point she’s actually apologized to me that she can’t do anything to help… which I totally understand and assure her it’s fine.
  • @achanceintime I hate tough conversations like that. Sounds like you know what you have to do but will he miserable either way. On one hand it’s nice that she is taking initiative in buying all that gear, but also a little troubling that she also isnt able to see how that situation could be unsafe.

@faithmovesmountains im so sorry you got sick.  Seriously the last thing you need right now. Same thing happened to me around 16 weeks- most sick I have ever been for a solid 12hrs. Completely scarred me. So sorry that happened to you!

@rachelredhead I fee you re:covid. Back to seeing no one and feeling unsure about every necessary contact with strangers. Also work has been a nightmare. Ready for this wave to be done. I failed the 1hr with my first by a few points, but passed the 3hr. Wasn’t fun, but doable. Make sure you bring a book or magazine or download some shows to watch while you wait and have water and a snack on hand for as soon as you are allowed.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 31. 26+4

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: kale (which I HATE kale😂)I can never remember the little comparisons  I don’t find them as cutesy as I did the last time around 😂

    FTM/STM/TTM+:  STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:  blue

Upcoming Appointments: 1/11 for my labs/glucose/28 week appt

How are you feeling?: okay. Horrible nasal congestion especially at night. Which makes sleeping horrible. I’ve been getting some occasional nausea again, but wondering if that’s mainly the messed up holidays eating. This baby moves SO MUCH  which is surprising because of my anterior placenta, but I could do with less cervix/bladder kicks 🥴 Also hoping they 3-4 am dance parties don’t continue after he’s born 😂

Rants/Raves: rave for my husband  he’s just been doing little things around the house to try and get me more comfortable. Nothing big, but enough to make me 😍  (and raving that I have 4 more days of budget month  then will undo it with my long list of nursery things to buy to get things done 😂)

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care?  I’ve never actually really looked into this. I would one day love for both DH and I to read the book (maybe we’ll make that a thing for this upcoming year) but with how happy I’ve been with the little things he’s been doing lately I’m wondering if it’s act of service. I think DH is more of a touch person. He doesn’t seem to notice when I do little things, maybe because in normal times I do them regardless. But now officially making it a point to read the book and get to know each other a bit more😂 (after 16 years of knowing each other🤣)

  • @kgg2241 I am with you feeling exhausted after Christmas. I am also off this week and am planning to do lots of resting!

@achanceintime That sounds like quite a challenging situation with your MIL. I can imagine how that weighs on both you and your SO! I am 100% with you on holding that boundary for the safety of your children though. I’ve seen some people use the strategy of ‘blaming the pediatrician’ - like, ‘that is such a thoughtful offer and it shows us how much you love and support us. Unfortunately, our pediatrician says that it is dangerous for children to be exposed to secondhand or thirdhand smoke and they do not recommend (doing x y or z thing at MILs house). So we agree it is best you spend time with the kids at our house.’

@faithmovesmountains It sounds like you’ve done a lot of mental/emotional/spiritual work around your circumstances, kudos! What you have gone through and are going through is beyond difficult and you deserve to give yourself lots of recognition and love around the work you’ve done to manage it ❤️

@rachelredhead I am with you on being so over Covid. It was so wonderful to see both sets of DD1s grandparents, yet afterward I felt a sense of sadness and grief that we don’t do that more often because of Covid 😞 Fingers crossed you guys will stay in the clear!

@nursejenn5 +1 for more stomach upset recently! I also wonder if the holiday eating has something to do with it. For me, it is more indigestion at night than nausea.
  • @night_nurse I think my favorite gifts were: 1) amazing pjs my best friend sent (super soft, stretchy, and button down top that will be nursing friendly - they also look so chic and put together!) and 2) a new set of Bluetooth headphones SO picked for me since my regular pair stopped working and I really benefit from listening to a podcast or guided meditation if I am having trouble falling asleep.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/6  25+5

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: hand the size of a gummy bear

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Girl

Upcoming Appointments: 1/13 GTT and midwife appt

How are you feeling?: Overall, not too bad! Definitely exhausted after Christmas, but I plan on lots of rest while I am off this week.

Rants/Raves: Rave: seeing DD1 spend time with our families over Christmas ❤️ it was the best feeling!

    Questions: Natm

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care?

I think I am split between acts of service and quality time! Both make me feel very loved and taken care of.

  • @night_nurse My favorite gift came from my husband, and is a train charm for my charm bracelet, commemorating our first family train ride (which was super magical for a lot of reasons!). Can’t wait to have it added to my bracelet! Your recipe journal sounds wonderful!
@faithmovesmountains I’m sorry your mom can’t participate/help at the level she wants, but it’s good that she can acknowledge it. My MIL is very jealous of my mom, who is a very involved Grammy, and the only person who has ever babysat our son.
@rachelredhead boo to Covid and to failing the 1 hour. I also failed (144) and did the 3 hour. I felt a bit nauseated the first hour after drinking the glucose, then had a minor headache the rest of the day. According to the thresholds my doctor uses, I passed, but according to the lab I failed. So they are currently considering me “borderline” and I’ve been testing my fasting glucose for the last week, and will until my next appointment (Jan 3). They will review my levels and decide next steps from there.
@nursejenn5 The nasal congestion is terrible!! I feel your pain!
j@jenis_fan_for_life Thankfully my pediatrician is always happy to be our scapegoat! Glad you had a good Christmas!

  • @kgg2241 If it makes you feel any better DD1 was one month old before we chose a name for her. And we only chose it then because it was our last day to register a name for her before she would have officially been entered as "Baby Girl B...." in the system 😅

@achanceintime When DD1 was a baby my MIL and SIL offered to take her while I had a spa day (or something along those lines. Nope. I wouldn't trust either of them with my kids. I just told them thank you but I preferred being with my baby. Plus I had severe PPA so there was no way I would have left her with anyone. It's hard when they mean well but there is just no way...

@faithmovesmountains I'm sorry you were so sick! I've had food poisoning a few times during pregnancy and it cam be so scary...and that is without any prior trauma to make it worse ❤

@night_nurse Inly the kiddos get gifts here, but I love watching them open everything and get excited about the gifts they get!

@rachelredhead With my first my doctor didn't send anyone for the 1 hour because so many people failed and just sent me immediately for the 3 hour. I had to fast from midnight the night before but other than that I just sat and did marking. Honestly I didn't find it too bad. I have heard a few people recently say they have to follow a special diet for 3 days leading up to the test, but I didn't have to do this.

@nursejenn5 I've been with SO over 20 years and we haven't read the book either 😉

@jenis_fan_for_life I'm glad you'll get a chance to rest a bit this next week!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 28+0 / March 21st RCS around the 14th

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Um going to guess the size of DD2's talking Blippi doll that she got for Christmas.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Jan 11th OB, 19th GP

How are you feeling?: Same old same old. The pelvic girdle pain is real though!

Rants/Raves: We go device free for the holidays, so no phones, iPad etc. It was so nice just having everyone completely disconnected for a few days!

Questions: For those of you with Braxtom Hicks, how often do you get them? Mine have really picked up recently. I'm not worried but just curious if it's sort of normalish for this gestation or might still be from dehydration from the past week ish.

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care? I haven't read this book but I'll try...SO likes to do stuff for us (but never the things I actually need him to do...), I like going places and having cool experiences with the kids, or just snuggling with them. With SO a nice car ride and a conversation is good. I'm not a huge fan of overt shows or professions of affection...only with and by my kids:) They get alllll the love. The best thing anyone can do for me is show my kids how much they are loved ❤

  • @Panaceia my BH are directly linked to how hydrated I am. Focusing on around 100oz (3L) of fluid a day, with one electrolyte drink in there as well. On days I slack, I’ll have pretty consistent BH, a few strong ones per hour. Only recently figured this out after the preterm labor.
  • @achanceintime sorry about your MIL. What a tough situation to be in, but you're right, you family's well being is your priority.
@faithmovesmountains food poisoning is the worst! That must have been really scary. Hope you're feeling better now.
@night_nurse i'm so glad this was a better christmas for you! I'm sure it was a lot of work and happy you can see your progress!
@panaceia lol @ your H doing things that odn't necessarily need done- mine is the same. Always starting some random project but not one of our priority list things.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 28+2 3/20

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: as tall as a bratz doll, although i have no idea how tall that is.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: green

Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow (wed) for placenta check and OB check

How are you feeling?: not bad, have started taking unisom again to help me get back to sleep after my several bathroom trips in the night. Restless legs and heartburn still here....the usual stuff.

Rants/Raves: Currently in the 1 hour wait for my GTT. They did let me come back to my office so that is helpful! We had company over the weekend (my parents and brother/his gf). They all left yesterday and i could have used 1 more day to get my house in order before coming back to work but, oh well, here i am. RAAAAAVE: DH is off this week and he is taking DD to his parents' house tomorrow and not coming back until friday! I will have 2 glorious days aloneeeeeeeeeeeee! I can't wait :)

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care? I'm kind of split of words of affirmation and acts of service. DH shows his love via acts of service, so I've tried to condition myself to receive love that way, as well as do things for him. But in general, i'm a words of affirmation gal.

  • @kgg2241 names are so hard, you guys will get there!

@achanceintime yay for family time and baby prep, hoping to get some baby prep done this month myself 🤞🏼

@faithmovesmountains oh no! Hope you are feeling better today 😞

@night_nurse you should be proud of yourself, that’s awesome! Glad it was a great Christmas!

@nursejenn5 wohoo way to go H!

@rachelredhead I’ve been having that same change in feeling with movements - super curious why I felt like that didn’t happen till very late last time

@jenis_fan_for_life nothing like comfy pjs, probably my favorite gift too

@panaceia my Braxton hicks have been daily about 10-15 minutes each time 😑 but with A all of June they were just nonstop and I was told I have an irritable uterus, sounds like a good adjective for my uterus 😂

@morgantu oh man good for you girl, enjoy the peace and quiet!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 30w5d

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: length of a football

    Upcoming Appointments: the 5th

How are you feeling?: my lower back is killing me!

Rants/Raves: I’m so so tired always, I only had that in the first trimester last time. Feel like I’m sleep walking most days 😬

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care? Acts of kindness, just little things to show they care mean so much

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • @morgantu two days solo sounds AMAZZZZZZ

@gembud my sleep is definitely worse this time so I’m on the tired train, too.

@Panaceia my BH are soooo linked to hydration for me. They usually stop if I chug water. But they’re picking up in frequency now even when I feel like I’m better with hydrating. I definitely have them more frequently than with DS.
  • Feeling a lot better today, thanks everyone.

    @jenis_fan_for_life
Going to MFM tomorrow, so should be interesting to see if I can keep my calm. Just trusting God.

    @morgantu
Ah, Bratz dolls were my thing as a kid. Such a weird thing to compare baby height to, though lol. Like today mine says as tall as a standard magazine. What are they counting as a standard magazine?
  • I'm so impressed with those of you drinking 100 oz or more! I struggle to get in 60 ounces a day.

@chanceintime Man, I'm sure that conversation won't be fun. Sorry it's necessary! My mom gets super jealous of my MIL and compares how much time each of them get with my kids. It's annoying.

@Panaceia device free sounds nice! Glad y'all were able to enjoy Christmas. I hid Dad's school iPad and she thinks she left it at school.

@faithmovesmountains food poisoning is the worst! I hope you're feeling better.
  • @kgg2241 we haven't fully agreed on names yet, either! And we need to have two names! Hoping we can work on names next month!

@achanceintime My DH also has this week off, and I have a list of things for him to do! I'm in a similar situation as you, but it's my parents who have the health problems. My Dad has a meningioma that can sometimes make him dizzy and prone to seizures. He's taking meds and seeing PT to help, but will keep an eye on his condition these next few months to see if he and my Mom are able to help with the babies. He's the primary driver. My Mom, on the other hand, has a bad knee and refuses to get a knee replacement. They both want to be there for their grandkids, but they're not as active as my in-laws. It's a tough situation, so I feel you. I've talked to both of them, and they understand that they aren't as active as they once were. Definitely good to set boundaries with your MIL on what you feel comfortable with!

@faithmovesmountains I'm so sorry you had food poisoning! Glad you are feeling better. Good luck with your MFM appt today.

@rachelredhead I took my 3-hour glucose test yesterday! They had to do 4 blood draws. I brought a book to pass the time. It wasn't too bad, but the test definitely made me feel tired! I brought a snack to eat right after the last blood draw. Fortunately, I passed. Good luck!

@night_nurse I loved seeing Christmas in DS' eyes. He loved opening presents and truly believes in Santa and the elves. It's so cute! I received two sets of maternity/postpartum PJs (one from DH and MIL), and they are so comfy. DH also gave me a magnetic meal planner to add to our fridge. I need to get better on meal planning so hopefully this will help with grocery lists and getting dinner ready sooner rather than later!

@nursejenn5 I was battling nasal congestion for weeks! I took Mucinex for a few days, and that def helped clear it up. Also used a humidifier and saline drops.

@panaceia I also love experiences with the family! Makes the best memories!

@morgantu Enjoy these two days off! How glorious!!!

@gembud I feel you on the tiredness! I took a one-hour nap yesterday, and I could have slept longer! I wonder if fatigue is coming back!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 29 weeks today! 3/16/22

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Acorn Squash

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Bluex2

    Upcoming Appointments: 1/3 OB, 1/20 growth scan/NST

How are you feeling?: Back pain at night. Nasal congestion is mainly gone thanks to Mucinex, but now I am coughing more at night?

Rants/Raves: We had a great Christmas with the in-laws this past weekend! This is random, but we watched the movie, Don't Look Up! Great movie. I also passed the 3-hour glucose test yesterday! Starting to work on the nursery, so that will be the project these next few weeks.

Questions: Can't think of any right now.

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care? For me, acts of service and quality time. I think that is also how I share my love for my friends and family. I love doing small things for them. If I'm out shopping, I might buy DH a sweater or shirt that I know he might like or send lunch to a friend that is sick.

  • @morgantu ohh that does feel soon!! A three week difference is pretty significant. Well not really but I'd be freaking out too 😂.
  • @morgantu that does feel super soon!!! Yowza! These babies are ON THE WAY.
  • @achanceintime That sounds so difficult and frustrating with your MIL. Communication can be so, so hard with in-laws and parents, even when they mean well. My heart goes out to you.

@Panaceia I get a lot of braxton hicks. Reliably whenever I go up stairs or do physical activity, and randomly at other parts of the day too.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 3/25, 27+5

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: bunch of bananas

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Girl

Upcoming Appointments: Tuesday for gestational diabetes test. I'm so grateful that my provider lets me just drink it at home and then come in, and that I get to drink a set amount of orange juice instead of the glucose drink.

How are you feeling?: Good! We've had a lot of family here helping the past few weeks, and for once that has been drama-free and extremely appreciated. I will miss having them when they leave in a few days.

Rants/Raves: Communication with my MIL has sometimes been rocky, and I'm really grateful that lately we have been on the same page. She always means well, but her way of communicating is very very different from mine, and that makes things hard sometimes.

Questions: Has anyone else not even started prepping for baby? Oof, I need to get on that.

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care?

I'm very much all about talk, words of affirmation, open communication. My husband and his family are more about acts of service and quality time. Sometimes it can be hard for me to find a way to speak his language on that stuff, it feels very foreign to me.

  • @jessier19 I just really started getting stuff ready this week, now that Christmas is passed and my husband is off work for the week. My possible c-section date showed up in my countdown timer as 62 days away, and that flipped me out! My hospital bag is now packed (way early, but I was suddenly admitted to the hospital with DS at 35w to be tested for preeclampsia, and my husband had to pack me a bag…it was a disaster lol. Never doing that again!). I just put the last load of baby related laundry in the dryer (clothes NB to 3m), we bought her car seat and a new pack n play yesterday. I’m just trying to do one or two things a day this week while MH is here to help lift and carry, and entertain our toddler haha.
  • @morgantu my birthday and my brother's birthday are both February 28th...so personally I think this is the best birthday ever! I'm still secretly hoping baby boy decides to come a bit early so he can share this birthday too...

Upcoming Appointments: 1/8 with the MFM

How are you feeling?: good- big, have heartburn. I got my booster today and I’m hoping I don’t have side effects like I did with my second shot.

Rants/Raves: rants-Covid numbers are messing up my week off. I’m nervous to go anywhere. Raves- having the week off :)

Questions: anyone else now set on a name yet? Like we think we know but we are not 100% yet. Ahhh!

GTKY: What is your ‘love language’? What is your favorite way for your friends/family/SO to show you they care? Doing little things for me- like when my father in law comes over he brings me chocolate lol my husband is more with words of affirmation.

  • @kgg2241 ugh! I’m having the same issue with the name. Idk why!! Maybe because it’s going to be my only girl and I want it to be a perfect name 😂
  • @faithmovesmountains food poisoning is no joke. I'm glad you're okay and I hope you get your appetite back soon.
  • @morgantu Feb 28 does seem so.much.sooner 😳 that is also DH and his twin brother’s bday. I told baby girl she can totally hijack her dad’s bday if she wants 😂
