Re: Product Spotlight/Discussion: Bottles, Formula, etc.

  • I don't have a ton of advice because every baby will be picky and have their own bottle preferences. We used Philips Avent bottles and really liked them. We also used Comotomo. They were fine but probably not worth the money. For a drying rack we just used what we already had. People love those grass looking ones though.

  • A friend recently shared an Instagram account that is an amazing resource for learning about and choosing a formula - theformulamom.

We used boon and ComoTomo bottles with DD1, but I didn’t really love either of them. I’m hoping to get some glass ones this time around - does anyone have some they have liked??
  • Totally agree with @kgg2241 on everything.

I am actually a big fan of the small pre-made Enfamil bottles (I think they're 2oz?...I can't remember) and the nipples you can get to go with them. When we were using bottles I just had to take a nipple and screw it right on the the Enfamil bottle. I actually preferred this to buying bottles etc.
  • We used the kinde bag/bottle system. It was great for organization and cleaning since you throw away the bags (recyclable) each time. We will use the same system again assuming baby girl is on board.
  • My oldest was primarily BF (exclusivly pumping) we just had to supplement with formula for a bit to start out. My 1 year old was almost always combo BM & formula fed. I couldn't keep up with pumping and keep my sanity so Similac sensitive was our jam. They both did well with a combo of Philips Avent, Dr Brown, and Walmart cheapie bottles. They were never terribly pick thank goodness.

My best advice if take ALL the free samples for bottles you can get your hands on. Walmart freebie box, target, Amazon, etc. Then wait until babe is here before buying a ton of any one kind of bottle.

Praying this big boy has an amazing latch and will be able to BF successfully from the start otherwise we'll probably do something similar to my 1 year old. I know EPing will be not feasible with a 3 yr old and an 18 month old running around.

  • @Panaceia yes! Those premade bottles were great to keep in a diaper bag for on the go!!! My only complaint is that they are more expensive and as babe gets bigger 2oz ain't gonna cut it. But 💯 for NB phase!

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts Totally agree! Definitely too pricey and too small once they get bigger, but LOVED them for the early stages!!!!
  • I did the same as @rachelredhead. I loved the kiinde system, and I could directly pump in the bags with my Spectra using an adaptor. DS also liked the Avent bottles, as well as the bottles that came with the Spectra. Hopefully we will do the same with the twins. We have comotomo samples as well! My friends raved about those.

  • We also used kiinde for our first. And loved it. We started with dr brown bottles because they’re so good. But once DS got used to a bottle we went to the kiinde nipples. I think we’ll end up using it again for the most part just so we don’t have lots of bottles and parts to clean 😂
