The Great Big Question Thread

Re: The Great Big Question Thread

  • Has anyone tried any of the daily stretches/resources from Spinning Babies?

  • @coffeemamaaaaa I did some of them near the end of my last pregnancy because it didn't seem like DS had flipped and I think it worked. Haven't looked into it this time around.
  • Can round ligament pain be a constant ache?

I was very active yesterday and woke up in the middle of the night with a dull ache up the right side of my abdomen. It stayed all night as I flipped back and forth and has been present this morning. My gut is telling me that this is just round ligament pain from moving so much, but as a FTM wanted to check since it's usually described as a quick sharp pain (which I've also experienced a couple weeks ago).

  • @karisahamdi in my experience, it can def be both. I know it sucks!

  • @karisahamdi I have this too after I run, almost takes entire day to go away. Probably going to stop running soon for the rest of pregnancy because clearly my body isn’t having it. It feels like constant round ligament pain.
  • @karisahamdi I've experienced it as both too. You also might want to look into pubis symphysis pain (which I've also had and can kind of feel the same imo)
  • Thank you ladies! It started to feel better throughout the day, but good lord if it keeps the remainder of this pregnancy I will be getting 0 sleep 😭
  • @karisahamdi my doctor always says drink a ton of water, and lay down for 30 mins on your left side and it should go away. Maybe that will help you?!
  • @karisahamdi do you have a pregnancy pillow you’re using? That’s the only thing that seems to help me sleep!
  • @karisahamdi agree with @coffeemamaaaaa...I had some long lasting RLP at night once, I think because my pregnancy pillow wasn't properly adjusted to support my bump and body. Definitely helps!

Also, I definitely had some minor dull aches over the weekend that I noticed while driving home from an event. Turns out, running errands all day, sitting in a car for long periods of time, walking for an hour straight, then getting back in the car, was just too much for me lol. When I got home, I drank some water and laid on the couch and felt better within 30 min.

@tacosandtums thank you! I tried this last night when I started to get achy again and it for sure helped.

@coffeemamaaaaa I've been using a pregnancy pillow since 8 weeks. I bought it early to "test" and never took it off the bed 😬I don't know if I'm going to be able to go back after May lol

@pajamstagrams I did try to put my bump more onto the pillow last night and it helped me stay in place! Typically I move around a ton and sometimes wake up under the pillow, so it seems the more my body is on it the more I stay put.

(edited because I left out a word)
  • @karisahamdi you could try a support band! This happens to me @ work when I’m on my feet all day and the band helps so much just support the bump. I think it’s a combo of round ligament and just your abdominal muscles trying to support more than they’re used to.
AZMED Maternity Belt - Belly Band for Pregnant Women to Support Back/Waist/Abdomen With Belly Brace - Breathable & Adjustable For Different Stages https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VZFPVQRWHTWHT0AYPZHM

@Asheebeth sorry I’m a few days late but Old Navy has some fleece lined maternity leggings and their CozyCore leggings are a thicker and warmer material as well. It’s been cold here already (< 0° F) and they’re definitely better than regular leggings
  • @happynapper oh yes! I figured I wouldn't need one until the third trimester, but clearly, my body has different plans.
  • @karisahamdi I use that exact band @happynapper recommended when I work out, even now! Definitely helps support everything. By end of 2nd tri I'll probably wear during the day as well, for sure during end of 3rd tri, that was a work outfit staple (underneath my shirt lol)
  • How soon did you use a stroller with your newborn? I live overseas and have to medevac to deliver my baby in another country. I'll be there ~4 weeks after delivery and was thinking I would take both my car seat and stroller (travel system).

DH doesn't think we should bring the stroller because we won't use it.
  • @rmom2022 I’ve used it within the first 2-3 weeks with all 3 of my kids. We had to get out of the house and go for walks because I was going crazy lol. If you’re not going to be in an area where walking with a newborn is an option, or if you’re planning on immediately baby wearing, you may not need it for the first month.
  • @rmom2022 we used ours within the first 2 weeks for a doctors appt and a grocery store trip. If the stroller is too bulky to fool with maybe invest in a good carrier that both you and your husband can use to wear baby instead of fooling with the stroller until you return to your own home.

  • @rmom2022 I used ours within the first few days of getting home from the hospital and a ton after that since walks were really the only option to get out of the house at that point. Same with what @skc040512  said though, if you plan to baby wear to get around during that time I don’t think you need to lug the stroller with you too.
  • @rmom2022 I have the guzzie+Gus oxygen and I used it right away - it's good from birth to toddler and it only weighs about 12 lbs. It doesn't have as much storage, but I like having a lighter stroller. You can also use it with a bunch of different infant car seats. I still use it with my 2 year old.
  • Hey all! Looking for some reassurance… I’m a STM, and I have been feeling this kid for a few weeks multiple times each day. For the past few days I’ve not really been feeling anything at all. I’m only 17+ weeks, and I know they don’t even have you count kicks until way later. But has anyone experienced where you feel them often and then don’t for awhile this early? Wondering if maybe he changed positions and that’s affecting it??
  • @coffeemamaaaaa that happened to me this week and I’m 21 weeks. But I’ve been super active and busy so he has just been kinda in a lull. But today he was going wild when i was relaxing. Did worry me though but i Laos down and poked him enough to get an “don’t mess with me kick” before he went back to being wuite
  • @coffeemamaaaaa yup. Happened to me around 19 weeks. I’d been feeling her move pretty consistently then what felt like nothing. Make sure you’re staying hydrated, eat a small snack and relax. You’ll usually feel them pick back up. And remember - they’re less than a pound right now! If they shift away from an easily kickable spot, you may not feel them even if they’re doing backflips. Of course if it’s really starting to worry you or stress you out, contact your OB and at least have them make a record of it, or see if they want any additional monitoring from you at this point
  • I literally just posted this earlier this week in another baby group I’m in “ I’m 18 +3. I’ve been feeling baby since about 15 weeks. The last one-two weeks the movements have been a lot stronger, noticeable and I could actually see movement from the outside. All of a sudden, the last three days or so, I can still feel movement but it’s on a completely different side/area and way less strong. Did baby just drastically change positions? Is that possible? ” a lot of people commented that they’re in the same situation and baby is fine. Since I made that post I’ve been feeling stronger movements again.
  • @coffeemamaaaaa also another thing to consider is placenta placement. If it’s anterior that will affect how often you feel baby. Mine is anterior and i have to really be calm to feel him when I’m on the g
  • @jc0820 when I was pregnant with DS, he constantly drastically changed positions! I had placenta previa with him and idk if it was just in his way or what lol. He ended up flipping transverse at 34 weeks and would literally do rolls where he would completely flip around. He actually flipped transverse to head down at least 4 times between 36-38 weeks and I ended up having to be induced early, because anytime I would encounter stress, he’d get out of head down lol so all that to say that yes, major position changes are possible and it WILL effect where/how/how much you feel baby!
  • They can absolutely move into a position where you don't feel them as much! Don't fret! I am 18wk 3days with my 3rd right now and am just really over the past couple of days starting to subtly but surely feel baby a few times a day. Last week I felt one really strong and super definite kick or roll, then nothing at all for days and I was totally freaked out even though I knew I shouldn't be. We will all be stressing over every little thing for years and years to come!!
  • 19, almost 20 weeks here and I've been experiencing the same thing over the last week or two. It was pretty hilarious to get to my ultrasound Friday morning and see the kiddo be SUPER active and I couldn't feel a thing.
  • I felt the same way @jandawg! I had been feeling some kicks and flutters up to that point, but he was moving so much during the US and I felt nothing lol

I'm 21w and over the holidays he had moved into a position where it was a lot tougher to feel him. Of course, today he's back to a position where I can feel him a lot more and DH can really feel him as well.
  • Thank you everyone who answered my question ♥️♥️ Very appreciated!!
  • 18+4 weeks with an anterior placenta and third pregnancy and I still haven't felt baby move - maybe something little here/there but overall nothing consistent at all whereas I felt lots by this point in my previous pregnancies. I think its all pretty normal at this point in our pregnancies
  • Anterior placenta as well and second pregnancy. I feel baby move when he’s in certain spots and i feel him low and on the sides - def not the center.
  • I have two little humans inside me, I definitely feel them on both sides, they also seem to change positions a lot! Also, I know a few folks mentioned round ligament pain… mine has been drastic at night more so then during the day which is weird… 2 weeks ago at the ultrasound they were moving around a lot the tech felt them moving and jumped a little cause she apparently got kicked 😂

also weird question but when I wake up in the morning I swear it feels like I got smaller stomach and waist line, the minute I eat something it’s like my belly and waist line just pop.. anyone else experience this? Like feel bigger when they eat? I don’t remember this being the case with my son so kinda curious if anyone else has…
  • @stephk2120 I absolutely feel immediately bigger after eating 😂

  • @MrsLaLaBug Yeah it doesn’t matter what I eat even if it’s small my stomach immediately feels huge. And I eat a ton, so, that doesn’t help it much.
  • @stephk2120 this is my 2nd pregnancy and I am experiencing the same… I start out in the morning with a small bump and by the evening I feel like a blimp. I also don’t remember this happening with my first.
  • @fireflyz_56

i definitely feel like a blimp tonight 🤣
  • @stephk2120 I feel like all I have to do is drink water in the morning and my stomach pops 😆 it’s so small when I wake up compared to the end of the day
  • @stephk2120 (and everyone else) Lol so glad I am not alone - I am also experiencing this and do not recall it being quite this drastic last time around
  • Anyone else feel like their legs are super heavy? Almost like weights when they walk or move around? I don’t remember feeling this last time with my son so just a little weird… sorry for asking this silly question 😞
  • @stephk2120 kind of? I just feel tired all the time and have no energy in general. Not super exhausted like I'm sick, but enough to make me not want to work out or exercise.
