Upcoming Appointments or Results: Thursday (monthly check up)
How are you feeling?: Blah. I told DH on Saturday night that I thought the worst was behind me. Proceeded to puke first thing on Sunday morning and still feel awful today. So, you know. The usual.
Rants/Raves: Christmas overall went really well. The families are all excited for us. DH did a great job with presents. Had a nice week off work. Back to the grind today.
How are you feeling?: Right this second exhausted. I couldn't fall asleep until 1 last night and this weekend took a lot out of me. I also have a head cold thanks to my germy kids. Nothing major, just enough to make me feel a bit icky and stuffed up. But other than that generally speaking feeling good.
Rants/Raves: Rant: DD1 is home from school this week. She's a really great kid, but she's super chatty and it's really distracting me from getting any work done. I have a hard enough time keeping myself focused, she makes it that much worse. I wish I could just hang out with her. Rave: DH got me a beautiful necklace with one of the June birthstones (he went with alexandrite) for Christmas.
Questions: none
@pinkkillersheep you should know that you are never allowed to talk about feeling better, it will always jinx it! I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: tomorrow for another blood draw and regular prenatal checkup.
How are you feeling?: better but crappy.
Rants/Raves: I am exhausted by all of the pregnancy and motherhood advice I’m getting as if I haven’t already done this before.
Questions: how does your OB check fetal heart rate at your appointments. Last time was the first appointment I have that wasn’t supposed to be an ultrasound and they used that to get fetal heart rate. Trying to figure out if that’s something they do now? Kind of cool to see baby even for a short amount of time.
@pinkkillersheep I love hearing when people’s partners do well with gifts!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Regular OB appointment on Jan 4th and anatomy scan on Jan 26th
How are you feeling?: Like absolute crap. I'm 100% positive that this is my last pregnancy. I don't want to do this ever again. The nausea has lessened considerably, but now I have this skull-splitting headaches. I used to think I wanted 4 kids or to be a surrogate after I was done with having kids. No way. No how.
Rants/Raves: My husband let me take so many good naps this weekend and my son LOVED all his Christmas presents. It was a great Christmas and we had so much fun. Oh, and we've finally announced so I don't have to hide being preggo anymore!!
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Bloodwork for spina bifida tomorrow, no other appointments until week of 1/17
How are you feeling?: I go back and forth between feeling great and still feeling nauseous and exhausted, it just depends on the day.
Rants/Raves: We had a lovely Christmas at home by ourselves, just the 3 of us. It was lovely and cozy and wonderful. We made Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve and I got to experience Christmas through our 3 year old's eyes, which was so magical. Although we missed our family, it just wasn't worth it for us this year.
Due Date / Weeks + Days: 6/16/21. 15 weeks and 4 days.
FTM/STM/TTM+:STM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: upcoming app this Thursday 16 week. It's just a fetal monitor check which is silly because I own a doppler but it'll be good to ask questions. I've had an SCH since 11 weeks and 5 days. On Christmas I passed like a golf ball sized clot plus two other decently sized ones.
How are you feeling?: I'm like a basket case of emotions. I just wish my spotting was done. It seems to be getting better since I passed the clots but everytime I freshly bleed I'm just a hot mess.
Rants/Raves: I wish I had my midwife from my last pregnancy. The doctors I have are very conservative and they don't seem to care about my pregnancy until I'm far enough for them to save baby. I just wish I was with an ob thatd put me on berest so I could heal faster.
@idreamofginny Wasn't Christmas with a 3 year old the best? I feel like my son really got it this year and it was so fun to watch.
@mamamarthaof2 That's awful. YOU are the primary patient, not the baby. Of course, they should consider the baby their patient too, but your health and well-being is paramount. I hate when providers (and people in general) see the pregnant person as just a vessel.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: had an appt yesterday everything looked good except my blood pressure was a little low. They aren't worried as long as I don't show any sympotoms. They did my normal blood work for the appt and then did extra to see if I am possibly anemic.
How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good just easily exhausted. Doctor says that probably has a lot to do with my blood pressure being low.
Rants/Raves: Christmas was amazing. My daughter was the sweetest and so thankful for all her presents.
Questions: none.
marionberry19 mine checks with just a doppler. @mamamarthaof2 Sorry you are having to deal with that. My doctor told me they rarely put women on bedrest now. Hoping for fast healing for you.
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Finally (after a month) got expanded carrier screening back and everything looks good, thankfully. Monthly check up tomorrow/Wed, but my partner was uninvited due to the COVID surge. He was so sad, it simultaneously made me appreciate him even more for being such a good partner and broke my heart. I'll be video calling him in, of course, but he was so excited to hear her heart beat and maybe see her again.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Need to find some flowy winter work tops, stat.
Rants/Raves: I just wish people would wear masks at the grocery store so I don't feel like I have to re-arrange my whole week around going at 9 or 10pm or paying extra for delivery... Groceries are expensive enough!
Questions: None really. Though I do plan to ask my OB what steps I should take should I develop symptoms/test positive at some point (fully vaxxed and boosted, but still). Working at a hospital I'm beginning to feel that's more of a WHEN and less of an IF with the way things are right now - like half my team is out with Covid. I don't know if I'd be able to get the one monoclonal antibody that still works, despite being immunocompromised at baseline and also pregnant. So I feel like I need her to ease my anxiety about that a bit.
@ournextadventure Hope your BP figures itself out soon so you can get to feeling better!
Hi ladies! I'm so glad to see everyone had a wonderful Christmas. For those of you still feeling crappy, I hope you start feeling well soon!
@hillies22 the WHEN vs IF is a constant thought in my head now too. I keep convincing myself that being vaccinated + boosted will not be so bad, I just worry for the kids and the effect on the baby. I'm n NYC and it seems like everyone I know is sick now, it truly sucks. Stay safe and hope your OB can ease your anxiety.
@mamamarthaof2 I'm so sorry you're going through that. I agree, you should be the priority. Hope things get better for you!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 14w6d, 6/23
FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Nothing until 1/5
How are you feeling?: I think nausea has subsided for the most part. I still feel iffy here and there, but definitely not as much as before. I can actually stomach a meal at dinnertime. Anxiety is on a different level though with everything going on and I know it's not good for the baby, but I can't help myself.
Rants/Raves: Giant rant - covid sucks! We got a note from daycare last week that a teacher's daughter tested positive, but they were keeping daycare open. We decided to keep the kids home, got tested, were thankfully negative so I breathed a sigh of relief that we were in the clear. Sent my kids back on Monday and yesterday and last night got a note that another teacher tested positive. She was at daycare on Monday only and is my son's primary teacher, so he was potentially exposed. She wears a mask at all times, so I'm truly hoping she didn't pass anything to the kids. But now daycare is closed until next week so kids are home again, we have to get re-tested (the lines here these days are 1-2 hours long) and I'm again paranoid of catching covid. This crap just doesn't end and I'm exhausted of it all. Rave - we're Jewish, so we don't celebrate Christmas, but I love getting into the holiday spirit and don't want the holiday "magic" to end. I was born in Eastern Europe, so we celebrate the New Year instead and for us, Father Frost (Santa) comes on New Year's Eve and leaves presents under the tree. We also do a tree, but call it New Year's tree, so it's pretty much same as Christmas, just on a different day. It's pretty much the biggest holiday of the year for us so kids are excited and looking forward to the gifts and celebrating. I'm trying to get into the festive mood, but it's been hard. Going to try really hard to enjoy it, especially since we also have a slew of family birthdays in the next few days.
Questions: Anyone experiencing restless legs yet or hip discomfort when sleeping? Sometimes I feel like I can't stretch my legs enough, but I have PTSD from stretching my legs from previous pregnancies because stretching them was always followed by the most painful charley horse cramps. The last few days sleeping has become a bit uncomfortable and after sleeping on the side for a while, it feels like my hip gets uncomfortable and sore.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Refreshing the lab portal for NIPT test. Probably need to make an appointment with my obgyn to go with the scans, but they don't seem to be particularly concerned about my pregnancy since it's my second one. I can't be bothered.
How are you feeling?: Heartburn is the main symptom popping up. Occasionally a muscle spasm that feels like a kick but isn't. I'm also exhausted, depressed, and congested.
Rants/Raves: @Tulips29 I feel you so hard on this one. Toddler and I have a cold. Her daycare has had several teachers pop positive, though none she has been in contact with supposedly. I had to barter with neighbors and buddies to get an at home covid test because they are sold out all over my state, and the testing centers are a mess, running out of tests after 80 minutes in a not socially distant line. Could only get a test for myself, it was negative but I'll do a second in a few days.
Naturally I'm using paid sick leave (which I'm truly lucky to still have) for this drama, during the week I'm supposed to cover my entire office. Ruining a year of my career for maternity leave has me paranoid whenever I use leave for something less than life threatening, even 2 years into a pandemic I'm sure I'll get fired for using this entitlement.
Questions: Can I please just roll into a ball under the couch and stay there til June?
Upcoming Appointments or Results: Had a quick appt today but my OB is so great about answering all my first time questions and we got to see our little girl on the ultrasound so that was reassuring.
How are you feeling?: Still nauseous but not quite as bad, getting frequent headaches, just sore all over lol.
Rants/Raves: I always want to nap but if I do, I feel so sick when I wake up, like so nauseous and groggy and I can't shake it. So I'm afraid to nap.
Questions: Any favorite movies so far this year? I'm going to try and do nothing but watch movies the next few days after a week of busy travel.
@KFrob Do you think your head cold could be a pregnancy symptom? I have been so stuffed up this past week and have a runny nose and I've been told that can be a pregnancy symptom? Did that happen to you before? Sorry you're not at 100% - even little colds are so annoying! Also, I looked up alexandrite - it's beautiful (the two colors makes me think of the Gemini sign, are our kids really going to have two sides to their personalities lol)???
@marionberry19 today we had an appt and they used the ultrasound to check on the baby and listen to her heartbeat - it was quick but it was awesome to see her again, wasn't expecting that!
@binxybaby I have been surprised how physically uncomfortable pregnancy is so far. I'm a FTM but I'm already questioning if I could do this again - my back and abdomen are constantly sore and the nausea, it's a little overwhelming.
@hillies22 I'm sorry it's like that at the grocery stores where you live. I live in Los Angeles and everyone is always masked up, but we just traveled to Arizona for the holidays and it was a shock to see that it's not like that everywhere. Stay safe!
@Tulips29 my hips have been really sore at night - I'm used to sleeping on my back but I've been trying to sleep on my sides and my hips just kill. I did finally get a big pregnancy pillow and last night it helped.
@shoarmie99 stuffiness is definitely a symptom for me. I’m normally a disaster with allergy and sinus issues anyway and I get super stuffed up when I’m pregnant. I have to sleep with a breath right strip on lol. So this is cold on top of stuffiness, ugh.
@hillies22 so sorry your partner can’t come to your appointment
@marionberry19 If I remember correctly I think my OB starts to use the Doppler for the heartbeat around 16w. Until then there’s no check on it unless it’s a routine u/s.
@binxybaby high five for you DH and all those naps!
@Tulips29 Your NYE celebration sounds like so much fun!
@tulips29 and @mauvelousone I’m in the Northeast and I’m holding my breath waiting for everything to shut down again since it’s gotten so bad up here. We were given extra 14 days PTO called Emergency Time off for anything covid related but I’m afraid to use it for daycare closing etc cause I’m like what if we catch it and I need that time bc I’m sick or taking care of sick kids. I feel like I need to hoard it, but then waste all of my PTO.
@hillies22 I wish I could use video chat while in appointments but they are strict and require the phone off.
@idreamofginny This was my first Christmas without my mom and seeing my 3 year old get all her presents is what made it happy for me.
@Tulips29 That is scary. I hope everything turns out all right. You live in NYC? Have you ever gone to Times Square for NYE? I went once with my mom and we loved it. We both loved NYC

How are you feeling?: I get heartburn. Think sometimes I feel movement.
Rants/Raves: Had just finally started to go out to eat again and travel and feel somewhat back to normal but then omicron, so back to being indoors.
Questions: Question for anyone who had a c-section. After mine, my tummy was never flat again instead one part like poofs out. It is more noticeable as my bump develops. so my bump gets round and there is a section that poofs out. The section near the scar. Going to ask about it at my next appointment because wasn't sure if it is normal to have that poof.
I feel a lot better after seeing a different provider. It's the same clinic because I dont have other options but I was glad she went over different scenarios so I could prepare myself and not have to rely on googling. She also just gave me tips on how to pick up my toddler because that's when my symptoms were worse and I was totally grabbing lily wrong. I stopped bleeding a few days ago. I know it could start again but thankful for the current peace. 🙏
@romeoandjuliet146 I just saw your comment, sorry I'm so delayed, the week was a blur. Yes, we're in NYC. I've never gone to Times Square for NYE...it just seems like a crazy thing to do lol. I also can't imagine standing there for hours in the freezing cold and not being able to use a restroom. How did you survive that? And I mean no snark by it...people legit told me you have a wear an adult diaper. Is that true? We always watch the ball drop on TV instead

@tulips29 we are 45 mins/1 hour away from the city in CT and I'm with you - wouldn't dream of seeing the ball drop in person, although this year would have been a little more pleasant because of the warm weather!
@Tulips29 We got lucky and went to Brooklyn Diner for their NYE party, so we didn't have to stand out there, but I have read about people wearing adult diapers.
