  • @letsgox what's the room painted now? I take it not something neutral?

@melanier26 GL with your move. I can't imagine trying to do all that right around the holidays.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: July 14 / 10+4

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: team finding out! I think we'll know by the end of the year with the NIPT

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: baby weighs as much as a quarter

Upcoming appointments: progesterone and estrogen check tomorrow, ultrasound #5 on Thursday plus our first appointment with the OB. Gonna be lots of learning I'm told

How are you feeling?: I'm struggling with my sleep and general tiredness, but everything else is going well. Only slightly bothered by nausea

Rants/Raves: I think I have DH on board to finally announce to family at Christmas. And only 3 days of work this week for me. Probably going to be a slow week making me feel unmotivated to do any work

Questions: how do I know I have an actual bump and not a bloat bump? I feel like I need to suck in to not make it so obvious even though it's highly unlikely I would show this early as a FTM, and with a retroverted uterus too (I hear that can make you show later too).

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? A Christmas present to ourselves is to have our big home remodel done that we've talked about doing for the last year. It'll include a bathroom, mud room, kitchen, dining room, and foyer. It involves walls coming down and moving. We're practically gutting all of it to replace everything and changing the layout a bit. The only thing we will likely reuse is our kitchen faucet that we replaced shortly after moving in. I don't think we'll even keep the toilet because it's a light beige color instead of white haha.

  • @melanier26 best of luck with the move!

@quelinda99 it depends on the practice and in some cases, provider availability. With my first 2 I saw the NP for the first two appointments, with this one, they had me see a GYN to confirm the pregnancy (bc that was their first available) and then saw the NP the next time. I didn't see an OB until I had an ultrasound for all three pregnancies.

For my first pregnancy, I made it a point to see/be seen by all the OB's & midwives in the practice because they all rotate at the hospital & couldn't guarantee who would do my delivery. But once I had seen them all (and knew I didn't have any complications), I liked the midwife so I stuck with her for the rest of my appointments. I did the same with my 2nd pregnancy - but there were only 2 new folks to see so was with the midwife almost the whole time. That being said, the same OB delivered both my girls and has requested to see me for this pregnancy. She didn't give a reason why, but I'm approaching advanced maternal age, so if the OB wants to keep me, I'm good with it - I like her too. TL:DR - try them all, go with who you feel most comfortable with.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 7/11

    FTM/STM/STM+: TTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Green (still working on DH to be on board though)

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Lime

Upcoming appointments: First week of Jan.

How are you feeling?: I have *finally* gotten my hands on some preggy pops and wow, they are making a difference!

Rants/Raves: I'm having one of those days when I'm tired of hiding this from everyone. But I've gotta hold off for logistical reasons. Also, I have a sinus infection. Booooooo. Nasal rinses are helping a lot with snot but I can still tell I'm sick and its just annoying.

    Questions: None right now.

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby?
My new niece or nephew that is set to arrive exactly a month after this baby!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12 weeks / July 4th

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: We will hopefully have the results of NIPT by Christmas!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Plum

    Upcoming appointments: January 13

How are you feeling?: Nausea came back with a vengeance yesterday :s

Rants/Raves: Excited to tell extended family and friends on Christmas eve!

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? Most looking forward to (and at the same time most terrified of) becoming a SAHM once this bebe is here. Going to be a huge change for me not working, but we decided that it's best for our family for me to take a few years off and stay home with the kiddos.

@letsgox - Happy birthday to your two older kiddos!

@melanier26 - Good luck with your move!

@quelinda99 - I saw the NP last week and won't see my OB until 15 weeks. Wow 6 weddings! We have 2 next year that I'm looking forward to!

@inthewoods23 - It's hard I remember being like ohh I totally have a bump now and then the next day it would be gone. I think once it's a bump first thing in the morning, it's no longer just bloat! You're home remodel sounds like a dream! When is that starting? Will it be done before the baby comes?
  • @inthewoods23
lay down flat. Whatever is still bumped out is a real bump. Also, the “real bump” aka the uterus and other organs actually moving up and out, is a bit harder and less squishy than just bloating.

That said, I’m not a gatekeeper of bumps. Women show in alllllll kinds of ways and stages during pregnancy. If you are super short and very skinny, you tend to show earlier. Larger women and especially long/tall torsoed women tend to take longer. Uteruses that tilt back can take longer. If you have super strong abs, it can take longer for the bump to actually break through. Or none of that can be true at all! It really is very individual. I always show early because I have a very short torso. There’s just no where else for baby to go.

I know it gets some people worked up, but your pregnant. And everyone pregnant is bloated 🤣 if it makes you feel better to wear it and call it a bump, have at it. Right now I look way more pregnant at night than in the morning. But I’m still sporting a blossoming bump in the morning.

@quelinda99 Ive always loved my NPs. They are super knowledgeable and I’ve always felt like they listened more than the doctors I’ve seen.
If you have a mixed practice, any of them can deliver. It’ll just depend on who is on call.
For me, I’ve learned that I don’t care as much who is there at the birth. I didn’t even see the doctor who delivered my second son. I delivered on my hands and knees facing away from her 🤣 She was gone by the time I turned around. The nurses really handled all my care.
I do however care a whole lot about having ONE person care for me through the whole thing. The care feels much more consistent for me that way. And that’s the doctor who is calling the shots on what kind of treatment/tests I do and don’t need. If it’s a new practice, maybe try to see everyone once and whoever you like best, go with them. Depending on how large the practice is, that can be a long process though.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 7/7, currently 11+4

    FTM/STM/STM+: TTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out! FX we can tell at my ultrasound on Thursday (we could tell with my first two boys at 12 weeks)

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Lime! Which I can finally live with. Doesn’t seem so insanely tiny that it’s just hard for me to grasp.
But I also realized last week that like…. Mice have more or less the same internal systems humans do. And bugs have some similar stuff too…. And they’re super mega tiny.

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow! I have my first midwife apt and then Thursday we’re doing an ultrasound

How are you feeling?: Better enough that I’m ticked off I’m still laying on the couch right now. I tried working this morning and … well here I am on the couch. So close to being better. I even ate dinner last night!

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? It’s been a rough year. The TLDR is that my husband has been looking for a new job for a year with no luck (still working be just hates his current company). So I’ve got a lot of hope on 22 to deliver on the new job/house/better all around situation.

FTM/STM/STM+: STM+ This will be our third child.

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Sneak peek told us it’s a boy!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a water bottle cap

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow is our intake appointment with my OB. I’m thinking if all is well, I’ll see the doctor less frequently and move into a monthly cadence.

How are you feeling?: Exhausted, bloated.

Rants/Raves: So I feel huge and I’m in my maternity jeans already due to the bloat. I ate a TON Thursday-Sunday and drank a ton too so I was sure between all the food and water weight, I’d gain weight but I actually lost half a lb. Thanks little baby!

    Questions:

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? Some new opportunities at work and hopefully a successful implementation of a huge effort that will launch before I have the baby.
  • @inthewoods23 that sounds like a big undertaking!

The current nursery is too small for two cribs, so the room that will be the nursery is lavender and dark purple.

@feather_heather do you guys have a plan for your announcement?

    BFP #1: 4/2/12 -- DD born 12/15/12. BFP #2: 4/1/14 -- CP. BFP #3: 4/28/14 -- EDD 1/10/15

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a hot wheels car

Upcoming appointments: Jan 6 - waiting for a call back about orders for NIPT and scheduling NT sometime between now and then, since my OB was stuck at the hospital during my scheduled appt time last week.

How are you feeling?: so tired.  more moments of feeling okay followed by feeling super duper terrible.  i still vomit most nights, last night it was a lot more than normal after previously not feeling very nauseous at all. super fun times.  Today i'm thinking a lot about my last pregnancy as i had a D&C at 11 weeks, which is where I am at today, even though I know things are much different this time around

Rants/Raves: we told family this weekend via video chat - each person individually, i couldn't get ahold of one of my sisters and i then sent a picture of my son with our ultrasound to all my sisters, the one that didn't answer the call also didn't respond to the picture. Rave - pretty much everyone except for the one sister that hasn't responded to the baby stuff has volunteered to covid test before coming over for xmas, which makes me feel better

Questions: Anyone else bust out the maternity pants this week? I'm wearing a regular pair of pants today that have an elastic waist but definitely wearing my maternity pants to work tomorrow.  the lower belly has grown and my current pants are not comfortable anymore! Also so tired but struggle to fall asleep/stay asleep - even with unisom.  help!

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? the vaccine hopefully getting approved for kids under 5 and being able to do more things!

@inthewoods23 i think you decide whenever it's a bump! and also- with my frist pregnancy i waited a while to move into maternity pants and looking back i wish i had done it sooner.  if you are feeling uncomfortable in your current clothes, switch them out and give that growing belly some comfy room!
  • @letsgox ah so all girls and you'd be set!

@quelinda99 wow that's a lot of weddings! The most I ever had in a year was 4 and that included my own. I totally have the same food feelings. I know I should eat but I don't feel like it!

@feather_heather we're having the contractor come to our house next monday to see our house in person to get a better understanding of what we want to do. Not sure when we'll start - might be in February after they finish building my friend's house (the company is owned by friend's husband and his dad) which is pretty much top priority ATM. Ideally we want it done sometime in May or even before. Definitely before baby arrives!

@tuxielove93 I'm definitely thinking I'm on the cusp of a real bump. DH thinks there's maybe something but it's not super obvious. Hope YH finds a new job that he loves soon!

@sunshineandlemons my brain keeps reading implementation as implantation 😂 I also have yet to gain any weight thus far. Let's see how long that lasts

@runnergirl2018 I'm trying to wear my yoga pants/leggings and sweats as much as possible. Covid and WFH just makes me hate how jeans feel around the waste. Blah. Sorry for all the vomiting! That is rough.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Strawberry (one of the only flavors that I can consistently tolerate these days, haha)
Upcoming appointments: My first appointment is tomorrow, FINALLY! No ultrasound, just heartbeat check and physical exam.
How are you feeling?: Still having food aversions, but less nausea and gagging. My anxiety has been SUPER high lately. I think I might have to increase my dose of Zoloft because life just feels...overwhelming right now.
Rants/Raves: Rant - Sorry my participation has been spotty! Working against deadlines at work. I'm trying to get something really important drafted by the time we leave on Wednesday to go visit family...but we'll see. Rave - If all goes well tomorrow, we'll get to tell DD afterwards and then announce to our families during Christmas festivities. Anxious but excited.
Questions: None that I can think of!
GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? Oof. I don't even know. Learning to crochet?

  • @quelinda99 omg I laughed out loud at your rave. I'm in the same boat. Every poop is a victory! *eats prune*. I've never had hemorrhoids but I fear them now. Also I agree about eating. I get sick of it!

@inthewoods23 I also wonder about my bump vs bloat. When I have my millions of layers on I can't see a thing but then in the shower I'm like, "oh, there's something there!" Either way, its exciting. 😁 very cool that you are renovating your house. I now feel inspired to get our bathroom redone before baby comes.

@twentythree19 what is a preggy pop and where did you get it?

  • @zinnia19 found them on Amazon. They’re a hard candy with vitamin B6 in them. Amazon took a little while to ship them so I’d maybe search around and see if you can find them for sale via another store.
  • @letsgox - I bought DD this outfit (romper and striped tights) and had it embroidered with "big sister"! She will wear it to DH's family's house for Christmas Eve, and we'll take a picture and text it to my side of the family.

How are you feeling?: Somewhat crampy and a bit of nausea. Nothing too bad.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: today baby would fit on the face of a watch

Upcoming appointments: had my appointment last Friday, because it will be my third c section and I have history of hypertension in pregnancy they are referring me the maternal fetal specialist officially classifying me as high risk. I expected it though so I’m not super surprised. I am waiting on the call from their office to schedule my first appointment with them. At least now insurance may cover the NIPT, so that’s a win.

How are you feeling?: the nausea has finally calmed down a bit, my boobs are forever sore though.

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? We are moving the first week of January out of our apartment and into a house. I am so excited for it, we’ve lived in apartments for the past 5 years almost so the idea of a house with a yard for our kids to play in sounds like a dream!

How are you feeling?: Slightly more at ease but still a wreck. Been trying to find resources for bio mom's going through the gestational carrier process and there's not much. Sigh. Been struggling navigating through feelings of jealousy and feelings of possessiveness towards the baby.

Rants/Raves: I am sooooo happy to be on Christmas holidays!!!

    Questions:

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? Helping my sister in law plan her wedding.
  • @L1C4gal I can't believe you don't get to see baby with an ultrasound!

@zinnia19 it's very exciting to know we're getting close to real bumps! I always sort of know what that looks like from sticking my gut out back in the day haha

@tsh2021 GL with your new career!

@stardustskies yay for seeing your bean today! Hope everything looks great!

@bearsandbeets7 hope everything with the move goes smooth and enjoy that nice new yard!

@peppylilfoxy there might be some good FB groups for those expecting through surrogacy. Maybe your/your friend's OB has some good resources?

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a guitar pick

    Upcoming appointments: 1/18

How are you feeling?: if I eat my crackers first thing in the AM and make sure I keep snacks around, I’m doing ok.

Rants/Raves: We are also announcing to DH’s family at Christmas, we are giving DD a big sister shirt to open on Christmas morning. I am worried that our plans might get canceled though since DD is still getting over a cold/ear infection and I have this weird scratchy throat situation going on. I can’t find an appointment anywhere to get tested before we go, but MIL has at home tests for us, so we will test as soon as we get there. Praying we don’t test positive and have to turn around and drive home. Hopefully we will just be better by Friday since we’ve been sick since last Friday. COVID makes me so anxious and paranoid!

    Questions:

GTKY: what are you most looking forward to in 2022 besides baby? As a couple others have said, being able to get DD vaxxed and hopefully the pandemic going in the right direction again. Also hopefully a normal year at work (I manage wedding rentals at an art museum) with no more cancellations or reschedules!
  • @sjb2215 We’ve kid sick kiddos over the last week too. I hope everyone is all better for Christmas! 🤞🏻
