Hi friends! I wanted to start a discussion for people that have had a c-section before. Of course health and safety is the thing that everyone wants, so do you think you’ll go that route again? Or not?

And I’ll share my stuff just to get things started. I had an emergency c-section last time and my doctor has advised me to go for a planned c-section this time. I know it’ll be less frantic when it’s planned and people aren’t in distress so it’ll be a completely different experience.

I had a c-section but only because I had to. I was really disappointed because I had envisioned how I wanted the birth to go. I really hope I don't need a c-section next time.

I had no choice with my first because of placenta previa and had a planned c-section. It was easy breezy and less stressful like you say. My second was scheduled as well but DD decided to come early, my water broke with no active labor so I had no choice again. My OB won’t let me do vbac with the 3rd either. Overall my recoveries were not as bad as others told me. There was no traumatic labor or hours of pushing and I was on my feet hours after the second c-section. Hoping third will go well also. The only weird post effect is having no feeling in the lower belly for quite a while.

@romeoandjuliet146 yeah, I get it. I was crying when they told me I needed a c-section. Not what I wanted at all.
@Tulips29 yeah I think my recovery was better. My friend had a c-section with a breach baby and she was shocked I was able to do stairs so soon.

I had a failed induction at 37w with our daughter that ended in a C-section and I have to say, it was a great experience. I was up walking within 12 hours or so and didn't mind the recovery. My OBGYN has given me the option of trying VBAC vs. repeat planned c section aiming for 39 weeks and I'm leaning towards repeat c. My only concern is not being able to pick up our toddler during recovery and be as mobile as I'd like with her, but I think we'll all survive.

FWIW, this is something that might belong in the UO section but I went into our daughter's birth with no birth plan besides whatever is best/safest for mom and baby, and it is something I highly recommend to avoid disappointment!
