I had my 34/35 week prenatal appointment where we scheduled an induction date for January 7th when I’ll be 39 weeks (to the day) ! I was very excited about it, until I told one of my friends who told me that she did that with her first baby and it did not go well & she highly recommends naturally inducing. Is anybody else getting induced? Has anybody been induced before? I have a couple reasons why I want to get induced, one of them being we live an hour away from the hospital I’m delivering at. What is everybody’s thoughts on this, and what are you doing?
Re: Inductions… Yes? No? Maybe?
So, pretty long all in all. I had an epidural placed around 330pm on Thursday because thats when they started the syntocin drip, and I'd been told by other women who had been induced not to even bother trying to deal with pitocin contractions- just get the epidural.
This time around, I'm hoping to go into labour naturally, let the contractions build on their own, delay pain meds as long as I can and stay mobile.
I cant say that my first labour and delivery was a good or bad experience, it just is what it is, and I hope that this time it can happen naturally and maybe be different.
However, once I hit 37 weeks, I'll be doing lots of natural things to try and start labor. But (unless medically necessary) I won't be having a membrane sweep or my water broken.
You said there are a few reasons you are being induced...are you comfortable sharing the others? I personally wouldn't use living an hour from the hospital as a reason to be induced. Again, if your doctor says if it's medically necessary, doctors know more than me (a stranger on the internet). I would just be asking exactly why they want to induce.
