Upcoming Appointments or Results: Check up on Thursday

How are you feeling?: Like trash. I’ve been hit by some serious fatigue the past few days. I end up taking long naps and then couldn’t sleep last night.

Rants/Raves: Thanksgiving went well. Got some schoolwork done and spent time with family. Finally told my mom. Now I need to figure out when to tell my dad. I’m not waiting for anything in particular. I’d prefer to do it in person but that wouldn’t be until Christmas which seems so far away.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: In two weeks

How are you feeling?: slowly getting g better nausea wise but I’m soooo tired still and my boobs are unpleasant

Rants/Raves: we announced over the weekend because my baby bump is no longer containable with #3 haha so that was exciting. Most people were happy for us. I have one cousin who was mad because “now everyone will want him to have a third too” and a few family members who very clearly want this one to be a girl for a variety of reasons 🙄 as if I can control that. My extended family is generally very sexist against boys but whatever.

    This was our announcement

@pinkkillersheep sorry if you already told us but what are you studying?

  • Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend (for those celebrating)

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:  6/23, 10w4d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: NIPT on 12/8

How are you feeling?: Mostly ok, until evenings hit. Then I'm exhausted, feel a bit nauseous and lightheaded. No food sounds pleasant for dinner but I know I need to eat. Then I eat something and start feeling better. Weirdly I don't feel this at any other time of day, only evening.

Rants/Raves: Rave - we had a great long weekend. Thanksgiving was nice and chill and everyone had a great time. The rest of the weekend was very busy with family. Rant - the weekend left me exhausted! I went on the app to check up on this board several times, and then couldn't even get the energy to write anything. Also, woke up at 4 am today and couldn't fall back asleep for a while, so I'm extra tired this morning.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Today. I have an ultrasound and blood test.

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling better. Exhaustion is still there but nausea is finally going away.

Rants/Raves: I had a horrible cold for a week and then my daughter got the flu which means so did I. Luckily with the flu vaccine it wasn't horrible. And then a few days after i get over that I get a horrible stomach bug. I literally threw up every 20 min for about 18 hours. Hoping to finally betting getting back to normal. I hope to be on more now that we are all better. I haven't really been around the past two weeks.

    Questions:
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:  6/17, 11w 3d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: 4th

Upcoming Appointments or Results: Dec 7th NT scan.  Still fighting with the doctor’s office trying to get an NIPT I can afford…

How are you feeling?: A little better everyday. Like @Tulips29 I’m also finding myself exhausted and nauseous in the evening.  My Grandma was adorable this weekend and giving me advice on the nausea.  She’s 85. I guess that morning sickness really sticks in your memory haha.

Rants/Raves: Rant: again, like @Tulips29 I've been up since 4:30.  DD3 woke up and once I got her back down I never fell back asleep. Rave: we got all of our Christmas decorations up and it warms my heart!

    Questions:

@ournextadventure sorry you had such a rough couple of weeks! That sounds awful!
  • @Tulips29 thanks! I was tired and did want to have to get everyone dressed up and looking happy for a picture so I just paid someone on etsy to make the announcement lol I’m sorry your so tired! I hope we all start feeling better in a few weeks

@KFrob I’m so jealous you got your Christmas stuff up! I wanted to this weekend but we didn’t make it that far.

@ournextadventure Oh my you’ve had a rough few weeks I’m sorry!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 19 11 weeks 1 day

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: 12/01 for genetic testing. Hoping to hear babies heart beat.

How are you feeling?: like crap but less like crap than usual.

    Rants/Raves: no. Too tired.

Questions: is the 12 week ultrasound common practice? I had one with my son but this OB doesn’t appear to be scheduling me for one so I’m wondering if it isn’t a necessity
  • @daisy0322 what a weird thing to say because someone is having another kid. I’m sorry people feel the need to make everything about them.
  • @marionberry19 mine only does the 12 week ultrasound for genetic screening which is optional. So maybe it is normal to not have one at 12 weeks.
  • @marionberry19 it must be standard at my practice bc I’ve had one with each kid, even prior to being 35 when I was not offered the NIPT.
  • Re:12 week ultrasound
I just called about this they used to do it standard but it’s no longer common practice for low risk pregnancies. I had it with my first and second but it’s changed recently. At least that was my docs answer
  • @daisy0322 I’m working on my MBA, and this is the last weekend of the program for me! I wish I didn’t have a bunch of final projects due right at the height of first trimester awfulness, but I’ll be so glad to be done. That announcement is super cute! Sorry for the mixed reaction from family.
@Tulips29 I woke up for no reason at 5 and finally gave up at 6 since my alarm was going to go off at 7. I at least convinced myself to be productive since I wasted my Sunday evening watching trash tv.
@ournextadventure Oh gosh, what a rough stretch! Hoping you have some healthy days coming your way soon.
@KFrob I can’t wait to get our Christmas decorations up! We didn’t have time this weekend but hopefully next!
@marionberry19 I won’t be getting one. The ob said the next one isn’t until week 20. Hoping to just be ok with hearing the heartbeat until then.
  • Hi everyone!  Hope you are all doing well.  Happy (almost) December!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 13th, 12 weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: good news today from the NIPT, so grateful! NT scan 12/7

How are you feeling?: Last week has been my roughest week - for 6 weeks I'd only been nauseous, now I'm throwing up.  Is that normal at 12 weeks?

Rants/Raves: Rant - the vomiting.  I gag with anything slimy, which seems to be anything healthy - salad, salmon, eggs - so I've been eating mostly bread and cheese.  That can't be good!  Any tips?  Rave - so grateful our baby is low risk on the NIPT test and we are thrilled to know the fetal sex (girl) - makes it feel more real!

Questions:  Curious if anyone else has actually gotten MORE nauseous at week 12?

@pinkkillersheep can you FaceTime or Skype your dad?  Then you could see his reaction at least.

@daisy0322 love that announcement and Elliot is such a great name!

@ournextadventure when was your nausea the worst?  Mine's gotten much worse at 12 weeks and I'm hoping it will go away soon!  Glad to hear yours is subsiding...
  • @shoarmie99 Elliott is actually our last name! We aren’t sure what we’re having yet. I do love that name though haha

@pinkkillersheep oh no I was pregnant my whole last semester with my first it was rough. You got it though! Almost there, you just more bragging rights now 😉
  • @shoarmie99 I think he’ll be pretty indifferent about a video chat versus phone call to be honest. Not that he won’t be excited, but phone calls just aren’t really our thing. I’ll think about it a few more days though. I’m going to at least wait till after my Thursday appointment just to make sure everything is good. Maybe I’ll talk to him Sunday after I’m officially done with my MBA and can share extra good news all at once. On your question about week 12, I’m not there yet but I’ll say I got noticeably worse in week 10.

Upcoming Appointments or Results: My 12 week check up and NIPT on Dec 7

How are you feeling?: Meh. But counting myself lucky that I hardly ever have nausea.

Rants/Raves:  I just cried because I miss sushi and I'm craving it. It's my favorite food. I ended up ordering cooked sushi but it's mostly just deep fried rolls which isn't even close to the real thing. I literally used to be able to live off of sushi and alcohol and now I have no idea what to eat, nothing sounds good.

Edit: lol come to think of it it wasn't unusual for me to have sunny side up eggs for breakfast, drink 3-4 cups of coffee through the work day, have sushi (I used to make lots of homemade sushi or just eat sashimi) for either lunch or dinner, and then have like 3 drinks with my hubby at night. And drink with friends every weekend. That was my life and these new restrictions really suck.
  • @shoarmie99 mine was the worse around week 7-10 probably. But with my first I think it was worse around week 10 and that lasted until more like 18 weeks. So i'm super thankful this one it seems to be stopping with the second trimester.
  • @daisy0322 Beautiful announcement!

@Tulips29 I do the same thing. Check the board but am so tired that I wait till later to write.

@ournextadventure That was rough! Glad you are all feeling better.

    Rants/Raves:

  • @mama_mau my RE recommended waiting until 2nd trimester to get it, but I've also seen other docs say it doesn't matter when, just get it for added protection. I'll get mind as soon as I hit 2nd tri. Do you have concerns?

  • @mama_mau my dr also said to wait until 2nd trimester.  Her reasoning was that studies have shown the booster after 14w provides better immunity protection to the baby once born than before 14w. But she said to get it ASAP once I hit 14w.
  • @mama_mau I got mine about 5 weeks ago because of my work but my doctor had no concern with me getting it and also I had no bad reaction.
  • @mama_mau my OBGYN also recommended waiting until the 2nd trimester. Planning to get mine as soon as I hit 14w!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 10/12w3d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: We had no concerns coming out of our NT scan today and received great NIPT results last week. It's another girl!  <3

How are you feeling?: Our 3 year old had a tummy bug over Thanksgiving weekend and I of course got it much worse yesterday. Fortunately, it was a quick 24 hours but it was a rough 24 hours, resulting in me peeing myself inexplicably every time I puked. Yuck!

Rants/Raves: Thanksgiving was so wonderful. We were able to tell my brother/SIL about our pregnancy in person as well as share the sex with everyone in person which made it that much more special. It was the first time hosting in our new house and the food and company was great. It felt extra special, we missed everyone so much last year!

    Questions:
  • @mama_mau I was wondering about the booster as well. I do plan on getting one but haven't talked to my doctor yet

@KFrob That's good to know about 14 weeks.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: June 23rd/10w5d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments or Results: I guess I need to schedule the NT scan?

How are you feeling?: Nauseous and tired. I'm not sleeping very well.

Rants/Raves: The weight is definitely packing on a lot faster this pregnancy. 10 weeks last time, I was just beginning to notice my jeans were tight, this time I'm practically showing. And I can't get to the gym nearly as often as I could during the first pregnancy, because I have a toddler to manage, so I'm not helping matters. Looking in the mirror and watching my double chin grow back alarmingly quickly is so troubling.

I'm really having trouble thinking about the baby that's supposed to come out of all of this. It's all just a stressful and inconvenient medical condition right now. I want to start thinking about the life that I'm growing, maybe try and have fun coming up with a name or something, but at the end of the day I just haven't wrapped my mind around that yet and I'm just nauseous and achey and tired.
  • @mauvelousone a stressful inconvenient medical condition is a great description and I’m there with you.  This is for sure the last and I’m dying to be able to enjoy it but I’m not there yet.  I also looked in the mirror yesterday and was checking out my chin trying to decide if it was getting bigger.
  • My OB does not have any concerns but for my sanity she said I can wait till my 2nd tri starts.. i booked my appt at 12w4d n not sure if I want to wait till the 14w mark as I have to start going back to work n the cases here in Colorado are on a rise so I'd like to be safe sooner than later.
So not sure if getting it before 14w is a concern or not.
  • @mama_mau I'm no medical professional but honestly I don't think a whole week and 3 days would make much of a difference! I'm sure you're fine and better off protected than not.
  • @mama_mau FWIW there will probably be infant safe vaccines by next summer/fall anyway. I agree with @idreamofginny, better protected than not.

I’m just a couple weeks past the six month mark from my vaccine so I’ll get it soon. I was hoping to at my appointment tomorrow, but I don’t think I can risk being sick for the last weekend of my MBA. I’ll wait another week or so (or maybe wait till the 14 week mark, depending on what the ob says tomorrow). But I know for sure I will get it sooner than later.
  • @idreamofginny @pinkkillersheep You both are right & thats exactly what I told my husband 2 mins back.
No one has studied how & when the antibodies are passed on & by the time we think they are passed on we may be on to the next set of shots 🤷🏻‍♂️
If i am protected then I reduce my chances of contracting it in the first place which is the motive behind this! 🤞🏼
  • @mama_mau that’s not true.  Here is one study as an example: https://www.ajogmfm.org/article/s2589-9333(21)00176-2/fulltext and this study does show greater levels of antibody when the second dose in a two dose series was administered less than 20 weeks before delivery.
  • @KFrob This is good info, thank you! & I am not saying studies are wrong but with the current spike in cases especially in Colorado, I'd rather be protected than wait until March and be scared all the time. My main concern is I have to return to work next week onwards & I am going to keep my mask on as my office has a strict mask & vaccination policy but some of my friends still tested positive after the vaccine so I'd rather be taking that booster than be scared all the time!
  • I’m with you on that! If I had to go in office I’d get it asap also!
