Rants/Raves: my OB is leaving the practice Jan 7th. My due date is the 8th. He delivered my last two kids. I’m strangely feeling okay about it.
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? No plans set in stone. Fav thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes. We still don’t have kitchen counters so I’m not cooking a big meal. We might do something with my parents the weekend after (mom works thanksgiving).
Friday is 🎄 day though, best day of the year! I think we will take the kids ice skating Saturday. I won’t be skating…
Upcoming appointments: Checkup with OB on December 7
How are you feeling?: Pretty useless. Foot is doing better - my MIL was in town to help with the kids so I was able to keep it iced and elevated more than I would've been able to.
Rants/Raves: It's been a hard week. My kids were at home because of a Covid case in their school, and even though I had extra help with them, I still wasn't able to do a whole lot, and so I started feeling depressed. There were also some things going on that exacerbated the depression, but I think I'm starting to come out of it. We're at my in-laws for Thanksgiving and I was pretty uncomfortable for the 4 hour drive, but thankfully the kids were cool on the road so it was an easy trip. I have my Covid booster today, and I've been nervous about it for days. I hate needles, and am not looking forward to dealing with the side effects. I'm already having a hard time sleeping, so if I can't sleep on my left side at all for a few days, sleeping might be a nightmare - sometimes the baby insists I sleep on that side or I get continuously kicked. Oh well.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? At my in-laws until Saturday, unfortunately there's no snow for the kids to play in. Favorite dish is probably stuffing or cranberries, although I don't think we're doing cranberries this year But I'll just make them for Christmas I guess!
@kcf19 Yay for tree day! We usually put ours up as soon as possible after Thanksgiving too, so that'll probably be Sunday for us.
How far along are you//EDD: 31w/Jan 17th induction
Size of the baby: pineapple
Upcoming appointments: now that I have GD and am AMA I’m going to have weekly appointments until delivery
How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good except for a little tired, large, and normal aches and pains. I’m trying to get in 30 min of light exercise daily but when I do I have BH contractions like every few minutes, I know exercise is good but starting to get a little concerned about preterm labor (being AMA/GD I’m already at higher risk).
Rant: we’re having our floors redone and had to be out of the house for 3 days so they could finish them. They ran into a problem and it delayed the completion by 3 days so now we’re back in the house with the floors only partially done and having to function/work while they are making SO much noise/dust. I know renovations always take longer than expected (and supply chain issues aren’t helping) so I’m trying to keep a good attitude about it and focus on the positives, at least the nursery will be done soon. Oh another fun rant, I ordered our travel system in August and they finally let me know it will not ship in the color I ordered in time but they could ship it out in all black right away. Not my first choice but at this point I just want to check this off my list. It arrives and it’s forest green - the only color I really didn’t want so now I have to deal with returning this thing and hopefully they send out the right one next time. Rave: I know I complain about this remodel a lot but I’m really grateful to be able to make this house our home and come spring we should be done with everything. Although H and I agreed we’ll never do a remodel again :P
Questions: none atm
GTKY: our house is a mess from this remodel and we won’t be celebrating with family/friends. I don’t really like the traditional Thanksgiving meal and since it’s just the 3 of us (and now I’m on the GD diet) we’ll probably just have a nice salmon dinner. We’ll watch football and work on putting the house back together. My favorite thanksgiving dish is probably stuffing or warm pie with ice cream. Oh I also like green bean casserole.
@elksamm Bummer about the travel system, that has to be so frustrating. I hope they can resolve it soon for you guys. And remind me about the scope of your remodel? We've started working with an architect on a full tear-down remodel and I'm super nervous about the process. We know it will take much longer and be more expensive than we think, but the inconvenience of it all... Ugh. But also it is really exciting to think about making everything exactly the way you want it.
@Lisa3379 it’s an indoor/outdoor remodel. The outdoor is quite extensive - terracing and retaining walls, redo old deck and deck roof, add new deck (more retaining walls), sport court, office pod (built to be small replica of our house), more retaining walls, front yard fence and stairs, install irrigation, outdoor lighting and landscaping. While doing all this work we ran into some issues with the water main/sewer that pushed back schedule. On the inside, redo wood floors on 2 floors, install walkout basement glass door system, basement wet bar, heated floors in basement bathroom, lower garage conversion to gym, replace all interior doors, new garage doors, upper garage refinish with new storage system, dog area off of garage, add walk-in closet to master, replace old windows/ add a few new windows to bring in more light, recessed lighting in a few rooms, interior/exterior paint. Windows won’t arrive until March (that’s if they don’t get delayed again), furniture is also not going to arrive until Feb-Apr (if not further delayed). Building from scratch should be a much easier process. Renovations are more per sq ft and harder to plan for because you never know what you’re going to uncover and there’s so much that has to be undone to rebuild. While we’re excited to make this house ours and plan to be here for a while, H doesn’t do well with things constantly being disorganized and it’s been pretty stressful for him so we won’t be doing this again. That said, I’m pretty excited and grateful to have something that’s built to fit our family.
Size of the baby: A squash or a Care Bear (I prefer to go with Care Bear)
Upcoming appointments: 32-wk appointment tomorrow, next growth scan on Monday, 11/29
How are you feeling?: Very winded and large. It's hard to get comfortable at night. I still feel like I have to pee ALL THE TIME even if I don't.
Rants/Raves: Rave - my stroller and car seat came in! Phew. I am so excited. Also, it's a short work week and today was the only day I had to go into the office. Rant - I guess we actually have to install the car seat now. Wish us luck.
Questions: **POTENTIAL TW** Any one else irrationally concerned about SIDS? I lie awake at night thinking of all the things that go wrong and I cannot turn my brain off. It's really exhausting.
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? My in-laws always host, so we'll be going there. It'll just be us, them, my parents, and 2 elderly family friends. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but honestly I can do without turkey. Give me ALL the sides (and I do mean all of them). It may be a hot take, but I love, love, love candied sweet potatoes and green bean casserole. Hanukkah is on Sunday (very early this year!) so my parents are hosting. My mom's arthritis in her hand is acting up, so I will be taking care of the latkes.
@fifilala516 for me it isn’t SIDS, but something wrong developmentally with the baby. I can’t think about it too much or I go crazy. I’m trying to think positive.
@elksamm Wow, that sounds like it's going to be awesome! Yeah, we went back and forth on doing a tear-down (well, we will be keeping as much of the original walls/footprint as we can) vs updating the current house with new materials, but it just spirals out of control. For instance, we like a more modern feel, so if we update the kitchen, then we need to do the attached family room. If we have a modern kitchen, we need to update all the finishes, like window sills and what not. So then we need new windows! But then, what if we just open up the wall with windows and do sliding doors to the backyard! But then if we totally re-do that wall, why not raise the ceilings? And on and on and on, haha. I don't know when we'll start, we're still working with the architect on floorplans. Our big hurdle will be getting it approved by the town. Our house was built in 1948 so everything violates the current setback rules and MFA and MDA rules, so it'll be interesting to see what they're willing to grandfather in. We're thinking we might be lucky to have our house done 3 years from now.
@fifilala516 I'm glad you got your stroller and car seat! I know that was stressing you out. And I'm not really concerned too much about SIDS, although with my previous 2, I felt guilty for moving the kids into their own room so early. I balanced out my worry about not having them right next to me all the time with my need for sleep when I could get it. Plus I knew I was doing everything I could to keep them safe (safe sleeping spot, kept the room cool, etc). There's only so much you can do. Like @kcf19 said, I'm much more worried about something being wrong with the baby, so much so that I haven't really enjoyed my pregnancy since the anatomy scan.
@katepattsea Thank you I was able to talk more with my husband about stuff and I'm feeling a lot better about things. We got our Covid boosters today and went shopping afterwards, just the two of us. It felt really nice to do something together, even as mundane as putzing around Target, haha.
@sarah_is_pregnant Hahaha yes to the rectum pressure. It feels like the baby is impossibly low sometimes with some of the stuff I'm feeling!
Upcoming appointments: Had my 34 week appointment today. Next one is Dec 6 for 36 week appointment and NST. Will be weekly from that point on.
How are you feeling?: Uncomfortable. Anxious. I'm ready to be done being pregnant, but don't want to deliver too early and have a NICU stay. I was 2cm dilated at my appointment today and my son was born at 34w2d, and with being also AMA I feel like I will go earlier than later - even though I know moms who were 2cm dilated for weeks. I just want to at least get through Thanksgiving.
Rants/Raves: Rant - My right hip/sciatic nerve is so painful. By 10am it's hurting me a lot. Also there are more Covid positive cases popping up at my work. I was told today that I will be tested upon admission. If I test positive and baby has to go to the NICU, I will NOT be allowed to see her at all and that gives me major anxiety. I know the chance of me testing positive is low with me being fully vaccinated and having gotten the booster; and we're getting closer and closer to not having to worry about having a NICU baby, but it scares the shit out of me and makes me cry just thinking of the possibility.
Rave - baby girl has officially "cooked" for longer than my son; After tomorrow I have a 5 day weekend!!
Questions: NATM
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? My parents are coming Wed for Thanksgiving. It will be just the 5 of us since my MIL is unvaccinated and my parents aren't comfortable having a meal with her. We'll do Thanksgiving with my ILs on Sunday. Favorite dish is mashed potatoes and gravy or homemade Pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream.
@Lisa3379 I think you're the only person I know who's favorite dish is cranberries!
@elksamm I'm sorry the construction has been delayed is such a pain! I hope it all gets done soon and looks as amazing as you envisioned!
@Lisa3379 it is quite the project 🙃 it would have been much easier to build from scratch and we did consider moving and having a home built instead but we love our neighborhood and plan on being here as long as we have kids in the house. We moved quite a bit when DS was little and he loves our neighborhood/his friends/school for the first time and I would feel terrible pulling him away from it since we have the flexibility of working remotely and don’t have any reason we have to move. We bought the home under budget knowing that we were going to do renovations… we just didn’t know quite how big of a process this was going to be. And living in WA state and it being rainy all the time isn’t helping 😐 I totally get you on how one thing leads to another, we doubled the scope of our project because of it. Hopefully you’ll be able to have all your choices solidified and materials ordered in advance so when you start it won’t be as big of a headache
Lots of good stuff going on with everyone’. I sense a common theme that we’re all a little anxious about early delivery! It’s definitely been on my mind a lot too.
GTKY - Thanksgiving is my favorite!!! I love all the traditional meal items- turkey, cranberry, stuffing and give me all the casseroles! This year we will stick to low carb and will attempt to bake a sugar free pumpkin pie. Yay Gestational Diabetes hahaha 🤣
@karenmarie9 GD has impacted our thanksgiving dinner too, what sweetener will you use for the pumpkin pie?
@magalina_h I’m also AMA (and GD) and preterm labor is always on my mind. But making it to 34 weeks has got to be somewhat of a relief. Hope she continues to cook at least a few more weeks and you guys avoid the NICU. DS was also NICU and I’d really really like to not visit it with this LO.
@kcf19 do y’all get a fresh tree on Xmas tree day? Sounds like a nice tradition either way and ice skating should be verrrry fun to watch. @elksamm that’s wild how long it’s been taking for both the travel system to arrive and home repairs. My husband wants to fix up a home and keeps telling me he thinks it shouldn’t take longer than 3 mos. 😂 I try telling him how off that estimate is, but he doesn’t believe me. @fifilala516 I certainly worry about SIDS and have since before I decided to even have a kid! I will do everything the research says to minimize the possibility of it. I also worry about what the others have said-something else wrong health wise with baby. AND I worry about labor complications. At the end of the worrying though, I remind myself that tragedy is part of the human experience and I cannot control so much of it. @magalina_h congrats on making it this far! That must be a relief.
Size of the baby: butternut squash, they estimated he’s 5lbs yesterday
Upcoming appointments: went this morning for reg OB. Next is in two weeks.
How are you feeling?: quite a bit of pelvic pain. Sleep is difficult. Ankle swelling started. I’m ready to hold him in my arms instead of in my pelvis.
Rants/Raves: I’m looking forward to the holiday season! I can’t see family in person, but I can still see them via video. Rant is just the pain and swelling are making it hard to keep active and strong.
Questions: none atm
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? Plan is watching the parade, cooking dinner, eating dinner, FaceTiming with family. I love the whole darn meal! 😁 even the jellied canned cranberry.
@katepattsea unless the scope is super tiny and you already have all the materials - 3 months is probably very unrealistic. Right now material delays are insane and they are only getting worse. Eventually the supply chain will catch up so if you aren’t planning on doing it anytime soon it shouldn’t be as crazy. Also make a realistic budget and then double it, everything just ends up being more complicated/expensive 🙃
@elksamm I have, and since it's not really pediatric approved and has a high rate of false alarms (and also - can cause burns on the baby in rare instances) I opted to not go for it. We will be putting the baby in the bassinet and room sharing and doing all the safe sleep practices (and I imagine my anxiety will just make me stay up to ensure she's breathing). I have to tell myself that our ancestors didn't practice any of these regiments and we've even come a long way since DH and I were babies (bumpers in the crib, anyone?) so I need to try and relax.
I feel like I've been bad at keeping up with you all and these posts lately. The exhaustion has really done a number on me and I'm struggling to get through the last few weeks of work! Sounds like there are so many things going on for everyone- home remodeling, GD navigating, and Thanskgiving prep! Love hearing about all your adventures 💕
How far along are you//EDD: 31w4d
Size of the baby: asparagus (????). And apparently today she weighs as much a bottle of listerine. 🤪
Upcoming appointments: just had one this morning. Got an u/s to check on size. She is in the average range. Almost 4 lbs! Currently positioned head down. Hopefully she stays that way. Next appointment in 2 weeks!
How are you feeling?: Tired. Tired. Tired. I am grateful for less than a month left of work. Also grateful for that one day I started napping at 3 pm and then just basically slept through the night 😆
Rants/Raves: too tired for my brain to function. Umm... rant = I've had a stuffy nose for two weeks which has not been enjoyable. Rave - I managed to make banana bread this morning before work (I seem to have the most energy when I first wake up... of course now it is 6 pm and I'm dead to the world)
Questions: none
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? We are picking up food from my ILs. They are having Thanksgiving dinner with people from out of town and we just don't want to take any risks. So we will hunker down at home with our to go plates and hide from COVID. I might try to bake some pie for us just for the fun of it. Pie is definitely my favorite part of Thanksgiving - although I prefer apple pie and pecan pie over pumpkin pie 🥧.
@fifilala516 good to know! I haven’t looked into it too much but after knowing that I’ll definitely be passing on it.
@lilyfox sorry you’re feeling so exhausted but wow, sleeping from 3 pm through the night sounds amazing. I haven’t been getting as much sleep lately. Unfortunately I’m more of a night owl and get my energy in the evening which would be fine except I rarely get to sleep in between work, DS, and our two dogs. Guess it’s preparing me for the sleepless nights to come 😴🥱
Upcoming appointments: Dec 9th (Seeing a new High Risk OB
How are you feeling?: I am feeling very overwhelmed honestly. We learned that our baby boys kidney issue (Fetal Pyelectasis) resolved in one kidney, but got worse in the other. The High risk OB wants to keep an eye on him for the rest of the pregnancy, & wants to get a Pediatric Urologist involved for the possibility of intervention when he’s born. I just feel like I’m not in my body right now, I think i’m just so stressed, anxiety ridden, & overwhelmed. Other then that, he is perfect. He moved like wild at the US yesterday.
Rants/Raves: My energy is depleting rapidly lol. I feel like i’m in the first trimester again with the low energy. Im behind on laundry & house chores because of It. My poor husband can only do so much since he is working TONS of overtime to make up for my lack of overtime. Raves, I guess coming to the end! i’m a little over pregnancy lol. It’s a beautiful thing don’t get me wrong but i’m ready to just hold him!
Questions: Has anyone else experienced fetal pyelectasis? it’s more common in boys then girls although It can still happen in girls.
GTKY: Thanksgiving plans? Favorite Thanksgiving dish? I am working, so not much for plans. My mom is going to bring dinner to my house for my husband & I.
Oh, @firewife_911, I’m sorry about the news about your baby boy’s kidney. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling, but take time to try to ground yourself if you can. House chores can wait! It sounds like you have a good healthcare team thinking carefully about you and your boy’s future.
@firewife_911, I'm sorry to hear about this and your stress. The good news is that they're on top of it and can help fix it - everything is going to be OK! And who cares about the chores. You're growing a human!! Try to relax the best you can.
@firewife_911 I'm so sorry you're dealing with this but I agree with the other ladies that you're in good hands and your medical team is going take good care of you both. And definitely don't stress about the chores - they aren't going anywhere and taking care of yourself is most important.

Guess it’s preparing me for the sleepless nights to come 😴🥱
How far along are you//EDD: 32w5d
Size of the baby: Honeydew melon
