Winter car seat cover: is it needed?

Hello! I’m new to the group, due January 23rd 2022. Just wondering if a winter car seat cover is needed like the one in the picture attached? We live in an area that gets pretty cold in the winter. Thanks!

Re: Winter car seat cover: is it needed?

  • We loved ours. Even im TN it doesmt get that cold. But it keeps the wind off the tiny one and it's much easier than trying to keep on a blanket.

  • I say a definite yes. Also helps with germ exposure in the dr’s office or wherever you may be. Blankets blow off outside, but these stay put! Too bad I got rid of mine and had to get a new one 😆
  • I just got gifted that exact cover! Seems useful to me. It is good to hear that others like it too.
  • I would also vote yes. As a reminder, coats in carseats are a no-no!  I made a cover when I was pregnant with my son that zips up and has elastic on the bottom to hold snuggly around the carrier, that I saved for this baby. :)

  • @kcf19 I got rid of ours too and had to get a new one lol
  • I agree to get one. Babies often kick a blanket off and can’t wear a coat in the car seat so the cover is the way to go.

  • Definitely get one! As others have mentioned, you shouldn’t put a baby in a car seat with a coat on-the bulk makes the safety harness not as tight as it should be. With a newborn in the middle of winter, and dr appointments, etc, having to take them out and put a coat on is a huge hassle. Thanks for the reminder-we need to get one ourselves. My first was born when it was starting to get nice, so by the time we needed this she was already old enough that it wasn’t so complicated to get a coat on her when we arrived somewhere, but the cover is definitely a lot easier!
  • I didn’t think I needed one but I guess I do!
