Pregnant after covid

Hi mama's!
I had covid back in January of this year. I had completely lost my smell and taste. It has over the months slowly came back to maybe 70%? However nothing tastes like it should, everything tastes off and anything cooking smells rotten. Add in morning sickness and food aversion from pregnancy. I'm struggeling. Even saltines/crackers taste awful to me. I'm living on ice chips and butter noodles/ noodle soup. I also feel depressed overall because I crave so many different foods and when I get them they taste awful! This is my third pregnancy-my other kids are 6&7 so it's been a little while since I've done this.

Just wondering if any of you have expierence losing smell/taste from covid and are now pregnant with morning (all day) sickness.

Re: Pregnant after covid

  • I have never had Covid but my grandma had cancer her in mouth and had to get her tongue replaced with some muscle from elsewhere in her body so lost the vast majority of her tastebuds. She misses tastes immensely obviously. She finds it helpful to eat aromatic foods (a lot of our “taste” is smell) or to close her eyes while eating said foods and almost meditate by imagining/remembering the taste of the food. I don’t know if that helps any, but I wish you luck!

  • @starcrossedlovers19 I had Covid but it was back in July 2020. I did lose my sense of taste and smell but it came back eventually. I’m sorry you’re struggling!! I’ve heard there is a type of therapy that can help with taste/smell for Covid patients, but I’m not sure what it’s called or where to get it. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
