Hi! Newbie here!

Me and SO are 38. We've been NTNP for over a year, but fully tracking, timing and trying for about 4 months. I'm using apps to track cycle, have tracked ovulation using CBD, cheapies and Proov. We're now on the brink of getting him tested and consulting with a fertility doctor.

We're currently in TWW hell - 13dpo, 3 days late, BFN.

We've got a dog and cat that we adore. We love hiking, are currently looking to buy a home. I like to trail run and taught SO to ski last year so we're looking forward to this season.

hey there @tryingtokeeponkeepingon. this place is quiet around here during weekends but it heats up a bit at the beginning of the week so others may jump in later. I'm also 38 (getting ominously close here to 39, for me) and i've been trying since i was 35. it's a good idea for your partner to get tested.

as a fellow 38-year-old, i'll put it out there that whomever you consult about fertility should talk with you about the uphill battle you may face when it comes to egg quality, and possibly egg quantity. FX that you have no problems and get KU quickly and naturally, but ntnp for over a year raises some questions. In your shoes, I would make sure that you get some basic tests done in addition to your SO's SA: bloodwork, U/S to check for fibroids and do a CD3 antral follicle count, possibly also an HSG (to make sure your tubes are clear). Consider asking the doc as well to test progesterone levels to be sure you have a receptive environment during your LP.

ETA: I'm sorry for the late period/BFN hell. Sometimes the body throws us a curveball. Hopefully all becomes clear soon!

@tryingtokeeponkeepingon welcome! Also 38 and been trying for 22ish months. @optimistgardener has dished out some great advice there. I would also recommend picking up It Starts With The Egg (oft referred to as ISWTE). It has great advice on what supplement you and YH should take to improve your chances.

One more thing: if you’re planning getting a consult with a fertility doc, I would recommend meeting 2-3 doctors and also making sure that the center is right for you, not just the doctor. I’ve unfortunately had to switch multiple clinics before I ended up with a doc I love and a clinic I don’t mind. You should also plan on ~2 months for any fertility testing you might need to do since some of the tests can only be done on specific days of your cycle. Good luck!!!

@tryingtokeeponkeepingon The girls above gave good advice. I am on a similar timeline, just a bit older. I am 40 and have been actively trying/tracking for about a year but NTNP before that. Started consulting with an RE in late July and everything moves so slow, I wish I had started sooner! Hopefully you don't need all to go through all those hoops but it doesn't hurt to get the ball rolling as some places have long waits for consultations!

Newbie (sort of) was active on here back in 2019. Excited to be back as this board helped so much during my last TTC journey. My husband is 34 and I’m 33 and this is the first month we’ll be trying. We have one son who is turning 2 on Saturday.

Hello!

I didn't see a more recent newbie thread. I am 32, SO is 47 (yes I realize it's a bit crazy).
We each bring kids of our own to the relationship, but have now been trying for one of our own.
We have been trying since March (so currently in cycle 8). We started off NTNP, but after 3 cycles of that began tracking BBT and actually looking for ovulation confirmation.
Our timing finally seemed awesome this month, but I'm in TWW craziness and doing all the symptom spotting. Of course I've tested way to early and gotten BFNs at 9dpo, 10dpo, and today at 11dpo. So here I am! Can't wait to get to know more of you, and hopefully watch many of you move on to month boards (and join you there).
