Baby names you love but won’t be using

What are some baby names you love but won’t be using? It doesn’t matter the reason. It could be because your partner doesn’t like the name, it doesn’t go with your other children’s names, it sounds funny with your last name, or when that time comes because you’re having the opposite sex.

Re: Baby names you love but won’t be using

  • My #1 baby girl name was Adeline. However, my partners cousin had a baby girl and named her that. So the name is off the table.

  • I love the name Emelia. With nickname Emmie. My husbands cousin named his daughter that so they beat us to it.
  • @ournextadventure what is up with husbands cousins using our dream baby names that they didn’t know we liked? The thieves! 😂😂
  • Zoey.  It's my friend's daughter's name.  She told me she didn't care if I used it but I just can't bring myself to do it.
  • Victoria (Tori). I loved this name, but it felt very 'attached' to one of my previous failed embryo transfers so now it doesn't feel right to use. I think I will always think of that baby that never was as Victoria.

Also Noah. I loved that name when we were having our son, but it didn't work well with our last name so we went in a different direction. Now we are having a girl, so no more boy names!
  • Mavis, which I love but in an extremely strange turn of events, it’s the name of my husband’s ex’s mother who killed her stepfather and then fled the country.
Like of all the reasons, what????
  • Laney (best friends just named their baby Delanie)
    Hudson (My brother used it)
Caleb (Husband doesn't like a Caleb he played football with)
Jack (I've been a MS/HS teacher, not putting a kid through nicknames)

  • @fluteling wow, what a story behind that one!

In the realm of exs, DH and his ex had this thing going where they picked names starting with the same letter as their first name.  If it was a girl she got to pick, if it was a boy he was going to pick.  I think its bizarre.  So SD’s name starts with the same first letter as her mother’s name.  DH’s name starts with B so every time he throws out a B name I don’t even consider it.
  • For girls I love Maisy,  Violet, Lucie, Stella, and Ainsley. But hubby doesn’t like any of those and for boys I love Oliver, Elias, Brooks, River, Blake, and Lincoln but he doesn’t like those either.

We have a horrible time agreeing on names together. He likes names like Braxton and Packard for boys and his favorite girl names are Henley and Lux. We just have vastly different styles
  • We're likely going with letter C as first name initial (we have a whole family tradition there) I have not a single C name that would work. The best option is Chloe for girl but that's my best friend's daughter's name so that's a no go. I like Colton for a boy, but as a bachelor watcher, I only imagine that Colton and it's a no for me. DH also likes really strong names for both genders, so I think we'll have a hard time with this one.

  • @Tulips29 shall I recommend the name Cassandra? I hear all the best people have that name 😂
  • @marionberry19 haha! I am sure! I actually do like it, but we also have an issue that names we pick have to translate well/be easy to pronounce for our parents for whom English is a second language. So pretty much most names are tricky.
