2nd Trimester

Covid vaccine at 15 , 16 week pregnant.

Hi ladies! Pls be nice. I know it is not a brand new topic and I read other threads on it. Did anyone get the vaccine at around 15, 16 weeks? What was your experience? I m so paranoid to get this vaccine. Pregnant women were excluded from clinical trials and the data they r relying on is from vsafe registry. Then I read an article that Pfizer was planning on recruiting 4000 women for clinical trials who is 24 to 34 weeks pregnant. It said that they chose that timing because it is safe to give other vaccines to pregnant women at that time. Then on CDC web site the article about vsafe registry clearly states that the data about the safety of Covid 19 vaccine for pregnant women is limited. How can they force pregnant women to vaccinate at any stage of pregnancy with data like that is beyond me. But the long story short the employer is forcing to get vaccinated based on federal mandate even though I work from home. Ye, sounds ridiculous! I really looking for feedback who was vaccinated at 15 16 weeks and if there were any adverse reaction to the baby. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage and I m paranoid about this one. I can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel of becoming a mom and now I m forced to take this vaccine with very limited data and outcomes.

  • Thank you, Lisa! I really appreciate you sharing  <3
  • I got my booster at 11 weeks:) get your shot, I know tons of women who have gotten it while pregnant and are totally fine. The bigger concern is actually contracting covid while pregnant…. You have a 70% increased chance of dying from covid while pregnant. The vaccine is fine:)
  • I got my booster at 16 weeks pregnant. I’m 20 weeks pregnant now and baby looks perfect. My arm hurt after the shot, same as with the flu shot.

The risks of getting Covid while pregnant are documented and dangerous. There are no known risks associated with the vaccine. Talk to your OB about your concerns. Best of luck.
  • Thank you everyone for sharing. It makes me feel a lot better about getting that vaccine as I have no choice in order to still have the job. Would love to hear more from ladies who had the babies. I understand it is second trimester group but may be you have friends who were vaccinated and had babies. I m so paranoid if this vaccine can intervene with the baby development and cause birth defects. They say it is not but how many babies did they really examine who were born to moms vaccinated during pregnancy. The vaccine is somewhat new and was recently offered to pregnant women. The unknown scares me.
  • @katb2021 I have two friends that were vaccinated somewhere between 20 weeks and full term and their babies are, from everything they can tell, just perfect.
  • Thank you, Lisa! That makes me feel a lot better!
  • I also have a friend who got moderna vaccine in early pregnancy … like 4 weeks and 8 weeks or so. She just had her baby, she looks perfect:!
  • There’s a baby boom in my neighborhood, so I’ve 3 friends who got shots in the 2nd/3rd trimester. Babies and moms are doing great.

Personally, I got my booster around week 10 and, given the current spike, am SO glad I did. Like others have said, getting Covid while pregnant is very dangerous to both you and baby. Even if you’re young and relatively healthy, the pregnancy compromises the immune system.
  • I was fully vaccinated, got pregnant few months after and did my booster at 13 weeks, everything has been fine. The earlier you do the vaccine/the booster, the higher are the chances that the baby will get the antibodies, too.

I am originally from the country where COVID hit hard and people don’t get vaccinated for various political reasons. There has been a huge number of newborns who were left either with implications because their moms contracted COVID/or left motherless, because their mothers didn’t survive COVID.
  • I got my booster at 16 weeks and did feel wiped out for a day but that’s about it. I did have to take a few sparing Tylenol for fever. I on purpose made the appointment for a few days before a doctor’s appointment so I could hear the heart beat. It makes it all so reassuring!

I asked my OB about his big concerns with COVID since Omicron is getting so many people. He cited it’s a vascular disease and could cause a clot in the placenta. That could cause pregnancy loss and it’s a bigger risk in the unvaccinated. That was more than enough for me to feel like the shot was worth it. I hope that helps!
  • I was waiting until at least after my second trimester began to consider my booster, and then I still hesitated because of the lack of information available to the public. My midwife is amazing and well read on all the research, she just assured me at my most recent visit last week to get my booster sooner rather than later given a huge spike in cases in our area. She told me that there's virtually no concern about the vaccine from current reports, but both baby and I could benefit significantly from reduced risks of preterm labor or sudden miscarriage and potential death if we get the booster sooner.
So I've got my appointment for later this week. I'm 22 weeks currently.
  • I got my booster at 13 weeks. I am considered high risk because I am 40. This is my 4th child, my second during Covid. I was tired and watched TV the day after my vaccination, then the day following that (the second day) I was up and about but didn’t feel good enough to do my pregnancy workout, and my arm hurt, but that was it! My whole family got the booster to protect me and our 2 year old. I feel so much better that I got it for peace of mind. I really can’t afford any risks because of my age. My high risk OB Doctor recommended I get it.
  • Oh I am currently 17 weeks 3 days, and he is kicking me and has a healthy heartbeat!
  • I got mine at 15 weeks and some change. It's been more than two weeks and I'm fine :) baby is happy and healthy in there
  • I'm 26 weeks and had my booster at 24 weeks with no problems other than a sore arm. I have 3 friends who all work in health care and were among the first to be vaccinated and boosted.  Babies are now 11mos, 6 mos, and 3 mos...all doing well.
  • Thank you for thank you for sharing how the booster made you feel. I am preparing to do mine! Very helpful!
  • Hello! Don’t worry the risk of the vaccine is incredibly minimal, especially when compared to the risks associated with COVID. 100% get it. I had my booster at 15 weeks. My husband was very concerned but all was fine, just a sore arm.
  • Why do you have a high risk OB just because your 40? I’m 39, and had GD with my last at age 36. I still wouldn’t consider myself “high risk” because of my age.
