How Far Along? 25 weeks today! How big is baby? 13.5 in and 1.5 lbs! Or cauliflower sized. Upcoming Appointments? Next week-- I get to taste the infamous yucky orange drink (glucose test)! TTGP Grad? No IF/RPL/High Risk? AMA
How are you feeling? My back was terrible for a while-- could hardly walk the boardwalks/beaches/hikes on our baby/honeymoon. It feels like it's on the mend though, FX.
Rants/Raves? Rave: Pismo beach (CA) was beautiful! MH and I had a great week of relaxing beach time. We also went to a drive-inn, farmers market, hiking, Yosemite, and more. It was a fantastic little get-away before baby! Rant: It's hard getting back into the swing of things after a vacation! I feel so off!
Questions? natm
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? Chai tea latte.
How Far Along? 23+0 How big is baby? Grapefruit Upcoming Appointments? Literally in the waiting room right now TTGP Grad? Briefly IF/RPL/High Risk? High risk
How are you feeling? Right hip pain is a bother. Anxiety is ever present due to my previous loss whenever I’m in the waiting room.
Rants/Raves? Hubs comes home today from his vacation after our vacation. We have some talking to do so I’m glad he’s home but not looking forward to conversations…
Questions? Natm
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? Probably coffee? I like the taste. I have been drinking decaf since last October though
How Far Along? 24 weeks - Viability!!!! How big is baby? Atlantic puffin, eggplant, GI Joe action figure Upcoming Appointments? Tomorrow morning TTGP Grad? IF/RPL/High Risk? RPL, AMA, thyroid
How are you feeling? Super tired - I am dragging hard this week.
Rants/Raves? Rave: Baby is kicking around a lot, and I'm feeling him/her regularly throughout the day. Rant: Both boys are home sick. DS1 was exposed to Covid at daycare and was quarantined until today. He started showing Covid symptoms on Sunday morning, but we finally got his test results back today saying he's negative. DS2 shared some symptoms, but he seems more like a cold. He also got tested on Sunday and is negative. So the new plan is to keep them home 1 more day to fully recuperate and then send them back to daycare on Thursday. For the record, the most dreaded phrase heard in our house right now is DS1 yelling "Mommy, I have more liquid poop!" So fingers crossed that disappears soon.
Questions? Is anyone else struggling to trust their doctor? The doctor I have now is a different one than I've had for any of my other pregnancies, and with all the waffling on AMA delivery requirements and adding all the extras on because I'm "old," I'm just having a really hard time trusting her. Clearly that isn't a good place to be while pregnant, but I don't know how to fix it.
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? I have 2 - warm apple cider in the fall and hot chocolate any time I'm cold. For any dairy-free people, Swiss Miss makes a dairy-free hot cocoa that is delicious. It's coconut-based, I think, and I got it from Target, and I made it all winter last year while I was dairy-free for DS2. I mixed it with almond milk, and I couldn't taste any difference.
@lexilougolden Your vacation sounds like it was amazing! I hope your back is feeling better today.
@angelz429 I hope your appointment and conversation with your husband went well. The tough conversations are never easy, so sending you positive thoughts while working through it and processing everything after the conversation is completed.
How Far Along? 25 weeks! How big is baby? a wide brimmed fedora...but big enough I can feel her on my bladder/in my pelvis when I'm sitting upright or standing Upcoming Appointments? glucose tolerance and regular 26w check up on Tuesday TTGP Grad? feb21-may21 IF/RPL/High Risk? no
How are you feeling? surprisingly energetic. I've been nesting a lot - nursery is basically all done except for the crib (still not here yet...due to arrive end of Oct/beginning of Nov). but nesting is also manifesting as being generally tidy and on top of home tasks so that feels good. pregnancy brain has been worsening I think, I can't keep track of ANYTHING not related to the baby unless I write it down. sometimes I'll forget it on the way to write it down. *sigh*
Rants/Raves? Rave: my practice is picking up! I now have enough clients to break even for business expenses so that's nice, and I'm starting to feel more competent and less like an impostor. my professional association had a virtual conference over the weekend and I presented my thesis and I'm proud of how it went, despite the minor pregnancy brain-fueled mid-sentence blanking.
Questions? has anyone ever used those panty liners that turn blue if they detect amniotic fluid? logically I know they're probably not worth it but my low-level anxiety might need the reassurance
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? If it's the morning, I love a latte. my bougie homemade one has whiskey barrel aged beans, brown sugar, and madagascar vanilla extract. afternoon it's a warm chai tea
@lexilougolden your trip sounds so lovely, I hope your body is feeling a lot better though! @angelz429 I saw the US you posted in the thread, I'm glad the appt went well, and I hope that the conversation with your husband was productive and resolved things tough conversations are real tough @makingbacon oh no! what a whirlwind. I can feel the terror of that proclamation lol. I'm sorry things still feel weird with your dr, you should absolutely feel comfortable with them and like you can trust what they say and that they hear you!
Upcoming Appointments? November 3rd, regular midwife visit
TTGP Grad? no
IF/RPL/High Risk?no
How are you feeling? Pretty good! Feeling lots of baby movements now, insomnia has arrived though.
Rants/Raves? Nothing to really rant about, rave: I'm having a super productive morning. I folded laundry, started a new load, and had supper going in the crock pot all before 7 am!
Questions? Not today 🤷♀️
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? I love hot chocolate. I lived with my grandparents off/on when I was growing up and my nanny always got up early to have a cup of coffee on her back porch before work. I was the only one (of 3 of us grandkids that lived there) that got up early and so I always had hot chocolate with her first thing in the morning.
How Far Along? 22w5d How big is baby? Coconut Upcoming Appointments? Regular CNM Appointment next Wednesday TTGP Grad? Nope IF/RPL/High Risk? Nope
How are you feeling? SO FREAKING TIRED. and not pregnancy related but I feel a cold coming on which I am not excited about.
Rants/Raves? Rant: This is the busiest possible time at work. One of the most senior employees on my team moved on to a new company so I've been tasked with picking up ALL HER WORK until we hire someone new. In addition to my own. And then somebody else left and I was given one of her projects. It was looking doable until Samson got sick and now I'm so behind. And there's nobody to pick up the slack because I am literally the back up plan. So I'm gonna have to tell my boss that some things just arent' going to get done - at least not in a timely manner. And I know they'll be fine with it as long as the super high priority things still get done but I hate feeling like I'm failing (even if the task was basically impossible and unfair in the first place)
Questions? nope
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? We make coffee at home the majority of the time or drop by a little neighborhood coffee shop. But when I really need a pick me up I'll go out of my way for Starbucks. I like whatever the seasonal drink is - last time I got an iced chai latte and added the pumpkin cream cold foam on top and OMG it was so good.
@chgilmore Congratulations on presenting your thesis! I felt like an imposter for a long time after I got my degree. It was so weird going from a student to the person everyone was looking at for the answer.
@modoodles I love that your comfort beverage is tied to happy memories of your nanny.
@kaf1788 Please give yourself grace on getting it all done. It sounds like you’re going triple time with being 2 people’s backup plans, so it’s understandable that you’ll be behind because of kid sickness. It’s hard feeling like you’re failing, especially when you know under normal circumstances you’d be fine, but it’ll all eventually get done. I’m glad your boss is understanding of the situation. I also hope Samson is feeling better!
How are you feeling? Good, some minor aches and pains in my pelvis after walking a ton. But overall good. My belly button is starting to flatten out too, so some stretching feelings there.
Rants/Raves? We have had such a busy month so far, and still several things to finish it off. I’m so grateful that I stay at home during the week or my house would be total chaos. This time of year is just so back to back for us. Time is really flying. And I did manage to get one of the walls in my living room trimmed and painted yesterday, so on to the next ones when I have time! We have another wedding, a game night planned with friends and a birthday party this weekend, so I’m just doing it as I can during the week. I also ordered our Halloween costumes the other day. Ds is going as darth Vader, dh is going as emperor palpatine, maybe. He might change it up. And I’m going to be the Death Star. I ordered this silly maternity shirt on Etsy with a big one printed on the belly. I’ll post when I get it in!
Questions? Natm
GTKY: What is your go-to pick-me-up comfort beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.)? I am a coffee drinker regularly. But I’m the winter time I looove apple cider.
@lexilougolden goodluck with your glucose test! I had orange last time and it didn’t taste bad at all! Glad you enjoyed your vacation!
@makingbacon sorry to hear your family is sick, but glad to hear that it doesn’t sound like covid! hope things get better with your doc. I’m having to change doctors soon too because mine is having a baby in December so I’m not looking forward to it. I love her, and I’m nervous about how it’ll be with a new one.
@chgilmore when they say pregnancy brain, they mean it! I regularly can’t find my words these days! It’s aggravating, but it went away before. So I bet it will again. That’s awesome about the nursery progress! I feel a little nesty too, so I’ve done a lot in there, but I haven’t started organizing the little stuff or buying little stuff yet! I’m glad to hear your practice is doing well! I have not heard about those liners, but I did just see in one of my fb groups that amniotic fluid will smell sweet, someone compared it to sweet tarts. I know your anxiety is high, but I feel like in most cases you would know without using them, and I might not unless that becomes a concern with you and your doctor.
@modoodles glad you’re having a productive morning! We didn’t even get out of bed until 9. 😅 but I do have laundry going and coffee so far. I hate folding laundry. I have like 4 loads waiting for me today.
@kaf1788 that’s unfair about work. I’m sorry:/ I hope the transition is smooth. And your boss can just get over it. Haha
@makingbacon Glad that the boys don't have Covid. Hopefully whatever it is clears up soon! +1 for the feelings about the doctor. I feel like mine doesn't offer much information until I bring things up with her and she replies "sure, you can do that if you want to". Umm... but I'm not a doctor that knows the risks/benefits/needs/etc. She probably is a better doctor for an experienced mother. I'm just hoping I don't regret following through with her.
@chgilmore Yay for your practice! That's amazing! I also have pregnancy brain. I walk into a room and *poof* forget why I'm there.
@modoodles Wow--get it girl! I was snoring at 7am.
@kaf1788 Expectations (self or work imposed) are so difficult. Hope this hectic time is relieved soon!
@photographerwife Do you wear a mask to paint? I have a feeling that I might end up doing the whole nursery myself. MH is too scattered right now with work and getting my SS officially diagnosed with ADHD.
@lexilougolden I don’t. the paint that I bought by sherwin Williams is pretty low odor, but I did have my windows open yesterday because it was nice. But even then, unless I was doing a small bathroom or something I don’t think the paint has enough fumes to bother me. I did do another project outside a couple of weeks ago that required paint stripper and paint thinner and I did ventilate well and wear gloves! I have done a lot of projects like that by myself just because I have more time than dh does.
@angelz429 I hope your tough talks went well! I feel like the anticipation leading up to it is oftentimes worse than the actual conversation.
@makingbacon I hope your house is all healthy again! Poor kiddos with the liquid poop LOL!
@chgilmore congrats on making your business goals! 👏 That imposter syndrome is SO challenging.
@kaf1788 oh my gosh, work sounds crazy stressful for you right now! I hope they have help for you very soon.
@photographerwife I'm so impressed anytime someone someone gets painting done- we have a couple of gallons that we haven't touched and were planning to do it a month ago! 😂
