DS1 is home quarantined because a friend at daycare tested positive for Covid. I'm just trying to figure out why siblings also don't have to quarantine. We sent DS2 to daycare, but only after realizing that out of all the kids in DS1's room, only 2-3 kids don't have siblings in the toddler room. So we're 100% expecting to have DS2 home in quarantine next week.
@makingbacon it’s because DS1 has known contact. He may not have it. So you can’t quarantine everyone who has a secondary and beyond contact. Only if/when DS1 exhibits symptoms or tests positive is when DS2 should quarantine.
@angelz429 I guess the part that throws me is that if DS1 tested positive (his test ended up negative), and then DS2 tested positive, it shuts the entire toddler room down and requires every kid in that room to be tested before returning. So it makes sense that DS2 wouldn’t technically have to quarantine, too, it just seemed like a safer option than potentially shutting a 2nd room down.
@makingbacon if I were a daycare owner, I would have more strict quarantine measures like you’re suggesting for the reasons you’re stating. But I was just answering your question on why he doesn’t have to.
Additionally to think about, some people could get help with 1 kid, but it is harder to get all day help with 2 kids who have to quarantine. So maybe if 1 kid can go to daycare, the other can stay with a sitter and parents can still work? Or with 1 at home, can do SOME work? Harder with 2. 🤷🏻♀️
