12w Can’t see parts of brain? Anyone relate?

Just had my “12 week” scan. History: my baby has been measuring a week or so behind since 8 week scan. I’ve gone in 4 times because I’ve been bleeding since 7 weeks.

Today at my scan baby had grown, but was measuring 10w5d instead of 12w. It was also curled up, but moving.

Because of this they couldn’t get a good measurement and I looked past it. I then saw the dr and he told me they couldn’t find parts of its brain and told me to see a specialist. He couldn’t tell me if it was because 10 weeks was too early or not.

Does anyone have any positive stories after this happened to them? I don’t know how to be positive about anything at this point.

  • Oh don't be too worried! First off, it's way too early to see anything definitive about the brain. Even at the 20 week anatomy scan, nothing is definite. Especially if baby is moving and not in the right position. My daughter was born early and in the nicu a long time. Because of this I spoke to a lot of other mamas, nurses, and doctors. I learned a lot about the limitations of scans before birth and how many of the mamas were told scary things about the brain only to have nothing wrong when the baby was born. This is a common issue. I'd not worry.
