Re: Win/Wine/Whine Wednesday 9.15

  • 1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week?
I brushed the dog! Very small win but it is either raining or she is at doggy daycare or I'm too tired haha.

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?
I love a good craft IPA - I've been drinking a lot of Focal Banger from The Alchemist
    Apple cider mimosas (or regular)
When I want to have a lighter drink I either do grapefruit vodka with grapefruit seltzer and muddled black berries OR replace the vodka with elderflower gin

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week?
They are cutting down about 20 trees on our property line. By they I mean the power company because apparently Ash trees have some invasive bug that kills them in about 10 years time and they're getting at all done now. I love trees and nature so it is sad for me to see them killing live trees (crunchy lady over here). But it is also right outside my freaking window and I literally cannot hear or speak in all of my Zoom calls....
  • 1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week? I am really delegating back to my employees b/c I just can't do it all.

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? honestly, nothing, when I've had a hard day I'm more in the eat my feelings camp.

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week? I ordered what was supposed to be a super fun salad and two of the ingredients I was excited about were left off. ugh.

  • 1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week?
Getting my bedroom organized and moved around how I’ve been wanting it!!

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?
Easily sour beer! I’ve got a couple go to favorites always stocked at home.

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week?
Probably my own emotions and anxieties in my head. I get in my own head and create scenarios that never happen and stress myself out. It’s annoying but idk how to stop.
  • @paytonpedro you probably posted some somewhere else - but do you have any pics or your bedroom?? I also love sour beers!! What are some of your faves?
  • 1) We got signed up for a program that's going to help us a lot with something financial
    2) I don't really drink anything but water... :grimace: occasionally diet pepsi
    3) I have an assignment due tomorrow that I couldn't do until today because the book I ordered THREE WEEKS AGO finally came YESTERDAY and the kindle preview chapters ended with last week's.
  • @anniemarie887 re: 2, saaaaaaame. Way more of an "I had a bad day so I deserve Dairy Queen" person. Except I have no money so usually I have to settle for apples or bananas with peanut butter and chocolate.
  • @jellie603 I haven’t taken pictures yet! Part of the deal I made with mh is that I organize the bedroom, I get to pick new curtains. Lol. So after I pick them and get them up maybe I’ll post a picture haha. I didn’t take any before though.
sour beer, I like a lot of local ones. There’s one, not sure if it’s actually local because I’m all out, that is rainbow sherbet and phenomenal.

    1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week?
My materials are all organized for my first lectures in each class I'm teaching this term, and I've at least got rough draft lectures for the next couple of weeks after that. This is a huge win for me because normally I teach by the seat of my pants. I guess zoom teaching forces me to be more organized, lol/sob.

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?
When I'm drinking, I pretty much always go IPA. Although if I really think I deserve it for some reason, I'll occasionally go rye or scotch. Unfortunately though, my IF-related paranoias mean I rarely let myself have a drink these days, so instead like @fantasyflyte and @anniemarie887 I find myself opening the fridge for comfort.

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week?
I have a family member visiting (and by visiting, I mean she's come home from the foreign country where she lives for nearly a month here in her "other home" at the family house)... And she keeps assuming I will be the one who cooks every night! LIKE COME ON just volunteer to take over the cooking occasionally! Planning the meal, buying the food, preparing the meal... It's on me, every. single. night. Ugh. I would make a terrible housewife.
    History
I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.
Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35
5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN
    Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.
May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus
In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.
July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining
Aug-Oct, 3 femara cycles, all BFN
RE referral. While waiting to set up an appointment Nov-Jan,I continue with natural cycles and ICI, using a known donor, BFN...
Jan '21 more bloodwork, AMH is worse (.30), FSH high albeit not catastrophic at 13.2. hysteroscopy all good. "looks cozy!" says the RE.
Feb '21, injectables (menopur, novarel), iui, BFN (doc said the frozen donor sperm sample had the "best numbers she'd ever seen!")
Mar '21, injectables, iui cancelled due to lack of follicles, converted to at home-insem. BFN
May '21, first IVF round cancelled due to cyst.
July '21 IVF: standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 7; 6 days of stims. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilize, 4 made it to blast. 3 are 4AB, 1 is 4BB. PGT-A results all abnormal.
Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow.
    Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal.
Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP.
May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy.
July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen.
Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized.
From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos!
Jan 20, Fully medicated FET, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
July 23, Natural FET + baby aspirin. BFN.
  • 1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week?

I have worked out two days in a row this week. So I'm sore, but proud of myself! Goal is 4 days a week total.

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?

Right now I am sipping a delightful tart, fruity beer. Yum.

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week?

I had to call to get our yard waste picked up because they missed us...again. It's the third time in two months and it's annoying.

  • @paytonpedro @jellie603 are sour beers sour? I am always scared to order one!
  • 1) Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had this week?
I have a lot of issues with back pain (@paytonpedro and @fantasyflyte I sympathize with y’all), but I made it through a day and a half at the music festival and three nights sleeping in a camper! This is a pretty big deal for me. It was still painful, but it wasn’t debilitating when it flared up and it calmed down after a day’s rest. I’ve done a TON of physical therapy to get to this point so I celebrate it every time I have a win like this.

    2) Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?
Since today is a particularly disappointing CD1 I went straight for the red wine.

    3) Whine - What trivial thing is bothering you this week?
DH left the back seats down in my car. This is obviously easily correctable myself but I never need to fix it until 1. I’m putting my briefcase in the car to go to work, in which case I’m running late and don’t have time or 2. I’m leaving work and just want to get home so I say I’ll do it later. So really I’m annoyed at both of us lol.
  • @bows22 I’ve had a couple that are actually sour but usually I’d say no. They’re just like fruity or flavorful “beer” that doesn’t have that strong beer taste. I don’t actually like regular beer lol. But I really really love sours!!
  • @bows22 Yes they can definitely be very sour. They range in sourness haha. Mh likes sours and there are some that I just can’t handle at all! But I’ve found some milder ones that I enjoyed.

Win - looks like my goldfish are healing. Random, I know. Especially for non-fish owners. But after we got back from vacation, even though a neighbor took great care of them, it’s never the same. And they had some fun damage and whatnot. Anyway, today they look so much better and happier in their behavior too. That was a big sigh of relief. Just like with our dog and cat, I worry about them.

Wine- depends on the mood. But these are my faves, not in any particular order:
    A pina colada
a good aged whiskey - mh once got me a 30yr Balvenie and holy f*** it was heavenly.
Cider - my favorite is from Champlain Orchards in Vt, specifically their Mac & Maple. So good.
    A deep Bordeaux
    Spanish Tempranillo (also red)
a light fruity white - like a Riesling
    or a buttery Chardonnay
    a Bloody Mary,
I once tried a half Bloody Mary and half Guinness and I know it sounds terrible but it was AMAZING.

Whine - oh good god. Where to start? 😂

  • @anniemarie887 @fantasyflyte I’m definitely a eat your feelings kinda human. I’m ashamed to admit how fast that big jar of Nutella disappeared… I always crave something sweet and immediately something salt and back and forth. But mh now knows if I add Nutella to the grocery list, he should probably buy me flowers too. 😂
      Anniversary

  • @hgsurvivor I’m also one who goes from sweet to savory and so on. It’s so weird lol. I feel like for me it’s mostly when I bored.
  • @paytonpedro definitely from boredom over here. It’s so bad. And also water. It’s so weird that your body wants water but it registers as hungry. Like don’t go sending me hungry signals making me go buy ice cream or make brownies or open that jar of salsa with chips! How bout you just say “hey lady, I’m thirsty!”
Ps: yea I have conversations with my brain 😂

  • carbs is usually my go to - i will call my husband on the way home and say "please start boiling water" and he knows that means i want an entire box of mac n cheese to myself.
