GTKY: How did you meet your SO? My uncle was in the hospital having heart surgery and my aunt didn't want to miss the New Year's eve party they had tickets to so she dragged me along in my uncle's place...just so happened SO was at that same partywith his cousins who were there from out of town...that was over 20 years ago and the rest is history.

@gembud lol @ mixtape. Eventually we won't be able to use that as a reference! @realhousewife519 oh man, good luck with everyone mia! I'm sure it will be exhausting but you will be great @Panaceia whoo hoooooooooooo for everything going well today! I'm so glad. And your aunt is a VIP. How are you feeling?: still nauseous, a little more so today than the last few weeks, weirdly. Also feeling apprehensive as we shared the news with some family yesterday and the more people that know, the more nervous i get.
Rants/Raves: hmmm... had some pretty significant intestinal distress last night so that was no good...otherwise everything is pretty status quo.
Questions: nope
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? we were set up! My coworker and his coworker set us up and we were both pretty apathetic after the first meeting. But we ended up hanging out a few more times and decided the other wasn't so bad after all.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out. Blood draw for genetic testing was last week, so I think I'll know within a few days!
Upcoming Appointments: Next midwife appointment in a week
How are you feeling?: good!
Rant: whyyy is there so much judgment around people's births and birth choices and birth-related medical needs? Women who've had c-sections get judged, women who've had unmedicated births get judged, and everything in between. To be clear, I haven't heard any of that here, you've all been so wonderful and accepting, but I'm only 12 weeks and already starting to get some of it from people I know IRL and it just makes me want to scream sometimes. Like, 1) having medical choices around birth is a privilege, not everyone gets to have them; 2) a birthing person's choices are their own personal choices and everyone else should stay out of it with their opinions. That's my two cents anyway. Thank you for listening to my rant
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? We met on okcupid! Things started slow at first, like I feel like they tend to with online dating (it took a while for me to feel like I could trust him), but after that they took off fast. We were engaged about a year after we met.
@jessier19 we are running into the same nosy Nellies, I think. I’ve already had two people tell me, unsolicited, that they were so happy with their decision to have a VBAC. Cool. That’s really nice. I haven’t made a decision yet but their experience/opinion will factor in ZERO to that decision. One of these ladies is also someone who talked to me like I’d died or something when I had a CS after a failed induction and fetal distress. Like she kept saying, over and over, how sorry she was and how traumatic that is etc etc. I mean, yeah, it was rough, but it was the absolute right decision. Just so much drama/angst from folks when we don’t ask for input! Sorry, I’m clearly joining your rant.
@rachelredhead@jessier19 I'm so sorry you guys are having to deal with comments like that! I would love to give anyone who has opinions about any of my birthing experiences or choices an earful. I still don't get why when it comes to pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting, arguably the 3 most personal experiences you will ever have in your life, everyone feels like they are entitled to an opinion. I have decided that people who have such strong opinions are just unhappy with their own choices and are trying to validate them by trying to convince someone else that they were right...
@jessier19@rachelredhead nosy nellies and unsolicited "advice" are the worst. And they don't stop after the birth... unfortunately for us. I had a friend who commented on my weight gain during pregnancy as well...
EDD / Weeks + Days: 25 March / 12 weeks +
Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: tall as a kit kat
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: FO
Upcoming Appointments: I just had my pre-natal scan last week and will probably not hear anything (good news) until I meet my gynae on 8 Oct.
How are you feeling?: Yesterday I had a really bad bout of nausea which felt really disgusting until it passed. I still have insomnia, and popping the diclectin takes effect only 2 hours later... so I may try popping it at around 10pm from tonight onwards.
Rants/Raves: Unsupportive family members who have a lot of opinions about how underfed kid #1 is... simply because we are not serving a rice based diet every meal. If his growth chart is solidly above average and he has so much energy, people should really butt out and shut up unless they want to come and take over the childcaring 100%.
Questions: At what age can kids start sharing rooms? I think a newborn and toddler should probably be separated until #2 can start sleeping through the night consistently - but is that the benchmark?
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? A mutual friend introduced us because we all play badminton. After the game we were all headed home on the same bus and she made a cringey joke about us getting together and inviting her to the wedding... 3 years later we did get married and now we are on kid #2!
@bananasb The recommendation here for dyclectin is to take 2 at night before you go to bed (it actually takes 8 hours to kick in which is why they say to take it at night...that way it should be working once you wake up). If you have nausea all day they say to also take 1 mid morning and 1 mid afternoon. Also, when DD2 was born I was still bedsharing with DD1, so all 3 of us were in the same room. DD1 never woke up at night if DD2 was crying etc. This time around I'm still cosleeping with DD2 (she is in her own bed, but I am sleeping on a mattress on the floor right beside her, so she could just roll down onto my bed if she wanted) and baby will be in the room with us. I'm pretty sure baby won't wake DD2 and vice versa. Once they are asleep they are pretty deeply asleep so I think whatever you are comfortable with should be fine:)
@Panaceia also still feeling sick. Ugh, I wish I could see into the future as to when I'll feel better so I know there's some end in sight! @gembud yay for new haircut! I am getting one next week, and I'm so excited!
EDD / Weeks + Days: 14+6, 3/16/22

Upcoming Appointments: 9/20 with OB, 9/29 with MFM
How are you feeling?: Still nauseous and fatigued. Thought I was done with those symptoms, but they are still lingering.
Rants/Raves: Both set of parents know that we are having twins! Next up is our close circle of friends when we announce at my birthday party next Sat!
Questions: none
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? "We met at a bar!" DH hates when I say that, but it's sorta true. We have a mutual friend and that was the location of where we met. It was a semifinal football game for the SuperBowl, so lots of our friends met up to watch the game. He got my number from our mutual friend, and the rest is history. We moved in after 7 months of dating!
@bananasb our son will be 20 months when this baby is born. Our plan is to keep baby girl in our room until at least 6 months and then try to transition them into one room. We have a split level house (2 beds downstairs, 2 beds up) and I don’t want to move my son upstairs alone for awhile. So my hope is that they can share a room for a year or two and then move them both upstairs. But it’s all an experiment really. Our son is a great sleeper and slept through the night quickly and never had rough regressions. So until we get to know this little lady, it’s all a guessing game.
@gembud a mixtape is an awesome comparison! @jessier19@rachelredhead that's the worst! everyone does pregnancy/delivery/parenting the "right" way and then insists the rest of us do it their "right" way too... of course that doesn't take into consideration that every person/pregnancy/child is completely different from the next, even within a family!

How are you feeling?: not too bad, still a lot of heartburn indigestion... looking chubby but not pregnant yet
Rants/Raves: The taste of peppermint Tums was really grossing me out so I switched to the berry flavor... much better (for now)
Questions: natm
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? We work at the same company; we were both involved in a leadership training program and were told to sit with someone we didn't know at lunch during the orientation. I picked him and pretended to listen to whatever he was droning on about... I later decided he might be cute and started to invite him to group outings in hopes of chatting. He finally showed some interest at a mutual friend's birthday party and here we are!

Rants/Raves: None today!
Questions: None today!
GTKY: How did you meet your SO?
We also technically ‘met at a bar’ but it was through a friend of a friend of a friend while we were both in graduate school. It was a memorable night because my roommate at the time had a seizure and she ended up needing to go to the emergency room. My now-husband and his friend kindly drove us to the hospital and stayed in the waiting room for hours to make sure everything was ok! We dated for about a year, were long distance for a year, I relocated halfway across the country to move in with him as he continued his education, got married/moved back to the northeast in 2016, and now here we are over ten years later with two dogs, DD1, and baby #2 on the way!

GTKY: How did you meet your SO? I needed a date to an event, and he went to business school with my neighbor at the time. I thought he was cool, but knew I was moving to California a few months later for law school. I moved, and then transferred to a law school closer to him after my first year. Here we are 11.5 years later...hah!

How are you feeling?: Nausea is almost non-existant finally. I feel like my uterus isn't big enough for baby already. It's weird to explain. He feels super tight in there. And I can feel where he is at most times, though no movement feels yet.
Rants/Raves: I've been super uncomfortable. Baby feels like a big ball tight in my uterus. Backaches, emotional. My other boys are home sick this week.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? In a bar in Chicago the second weekend I moved there.
@bananasb I am sorry your family is being difficult. You know your kids best and I'm sure they are well nourished and taken care of. I have a similar question on when they can share a room. DD#1 and baby will have to share and it is giving me a bit of anxiety.
@rachelredhead I'm sorry you are still sick. I hope your cough gets better soon!

How are you feeling?: Ugh. I have a stupid cold. Besides that I feel fine, as far as pregnancy goes. I had an OB appointment on Friday and everything looked good.
Rants/Raves: I am so behind on here. I caught a cold and it has knocked me out. I had to call in sick to work yesterday and literally slept the entire day. I'm feeling a bit better today.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? I randomly joined a rec kickball league, which is completely out of character for me. The first game I was assigned to be the 3rd base ref. My husband was on the opposite team and was on 3rd base. We flirted a little and I kind of just knew then that we would date. I never went back to kickball, but when they did the midseason party I showed up at the bar it was at, got DH's number and that was that.

How are you feeling?: Have soooo much more energy now. Started exercising again and am able to eat things other than just carbs🙌🏼. Still having occasional nausea in the mornings but once I eat, I’m good. Mentally struggling a bit with weight gain and body image issues. Focusing on reminding myself that weight gain is necessary and healthy and trying to focus on strength rather than the number on the scale. It’s so hard.
Rants/Raves: Only want to rant that the constantly rising price of groceries is irritating me. Whyyyyyyy?
Questions: Anyone have a pregnancy specific strength program they have purchased? I have been looking at Every Mother and Expecting and Empowered. I never fully healed my diastisis recti after my 1st pregnancy and want to prevent it from getting much worse this time around.
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? We actually met at work almost 5 years ago. I am an ER nurse and he is a Paramedic. After some casual flirting he worked up the nerve to ask me out and we saw each other every single day after that. Our dating, engagement, and wedding anniversary are all December 1st. Makes remembering them easy 😂
@Panaceia glad babe sounded good at your appt! All the FX that this pregnancy will miraculously be less sickly than your others.
@morgantu totally feel you on more nerves with more people knowing. We still havent told my parents. Waiting to find out sex next week and then we’ll start letting more people know.
@jessier19 your rant is the exact reason there are so few people I have even told I’m pregnant.
@night_nurse I struggle a lot mentally with the pregnancy weight gain too 😞. I try to remind myself that it’s healthy and necessary, but I just can’t help but hate the way I look while I’m pregnant, I just don’t feel like myself when I look in the mirror. It doesn’t help that I carry really high. I wish I could have one of those adorable basketball bumps, you know?
@kgg2241 I love the way you met your DH! When I was in the dating scene, my friends pushed me to do all sorts of activities (kickball, included) and meeting them everywhere they were! They told me that you'll never know if you'll meet your next husband if you're out an about.
@night_nurse Ah! I'm so jealous (and thrilled!) you have your energy back! I'm patiently waiting for mine to show up! I feel like a lump of potatoes by mid-afternoon. I also want to get back to exercising!

How are you feeling?: starting to feel human again. My son gave me his cold so I’m battling that but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Rants/Raves: We are super ecstatic to be having a girl. Of course it didn’t matter and healthy is all we wanted, but I cry everyday because I’m so happy to have a daughter.
@gembud they’re watching my cervix for the same reason. I was always told there was a chance I’d need a cerclage (a stitch) with pregnancy. I didn’t have this in my first because the LEEP was after that. They labeled me high risk due to it and other reasons. They said it’s rare but it is a possibility it will shorten. Strange because they had such a hard time getting to and keeping my cervix open for all my fertility treatments, they actually put a stitch in prior to embryo transfer so they could easily access it. They measured mine at about 8 weeks and next one will be at 20 weeks.
@gembud I had a LEEP in 2008ish! My OB didn't worry about it with my first but told me the scar tissue would likely prevent me from dilating until it suddenly burst.boy was she right. I went from 1 cm to 6 cm when it burst and suddenly went from no contractions to every 60 seconds. It wasn't like that with my 2nd though!
@Nik102 FX it never becomes an issue! I had the LEEP before DS and didn’t even know it could be an issue till now, but measured nice and long today so that’s good
@michelle_bird oh wow, I really don’t think it had any affect on me last pregnancy, but also wasn’t aware it could. I think they are only checking one more time at 30w, I won’t complain I get to see the babe two extra times this pregnancy
