Weekly Randoms 8/30

What's going on this week? How was everyone's weekend?

Our weekend was pretty low-key. My in-laws are in town for the foreseeable future because they've been essentially smoked out of their area because of all the fire near Lake Tahoe, so we've had extra help. I feel like I played with my boys a lot more than I usually do, which makes me feel good. Sometimes I really need to stop and tell myself to not worry about housework and stuff like that, especially on weekends when they kids are here all day and not at school. Then today, my MIL vacuumed almost the entire house, so it gave me an opportunity to de-clutter some things ahead of her. Cleaning for 2 hours straight pretty much depleted all my energy so now I'm on the couch with my feet elevated.

I really feel like I got huge and uncomfortable all of a sudden. I'm seriously waddling now, and I feel like my legs are starting to swell if I'm on my feet too much. Anyone else?

@Lisa3379 I’m definitely starting to feel big and uncomfortable, and get tired way too easily.

This past weekend we got the main pieces for the nursery since some pieces take a while to make/ship. The original glider and fabric we wanted wouldn’t ship until after my due date. Here’s some of the pieces we ordered and the colors we’re going with.

  • +1 to feeling large and swollen. I can’t stop eating though, I’m like a bottomless pit.

We were briefly exposed to Covid last week-my family’s first known exposure. Thankfully we all had masks on and tested negative but it was a stressful week. Covid is also running through the child care at work and I work with a lot of the kids so everything is a bit stressful right now.
  • @kcf19 glad you tested negative! I'm starting to think about going back to 100% virtual work (I've been 50/50) because I'm getting nervous about delta. I live in an area that is decently well vaccinated but the numbers are still scary!

So I think I might have fractured my toe. 😩 I accidentally smashed my foot into my hallway wall last night and it hurt so much! This morning my small toe still hurts and I'm limping. I've fractured this same toe previously so I know what recovery will be like. A doctor's visit is pretty pointless, plus I dont want an xray.

I know a broken toe isnt pregnancy related but it really does feel like one thing after another during this pregnancy journey!!!
  • @Lisa3379 I'm also feeling huge, and the waddle is real. Im so much bigger with this pregnancy, and I'm only halfway done.

Not much going on here. I'm driving down to my parents house (8 hour drive. That's how we Canadians measure distance lol) on Thursday with my son. My husband is staying home.
I'm nervous for the drive,  and I don't plan to stop and go into any rest stops to pee or eat.
Itll be car snecks, drive thrus, and peeing in a cup for me. I don't want to risk getting my son sick on the long drive through the major cities.
    Ugh.
But, gotta do it before this 4th wave gets worse, and we wont be getting back down there for a long time after this. We haven't been to my parents since Xmas before covid when my son was 7m old.
On a different note: I've finally decided to leave the clinic I I at and only work from home. I've been there for nearly 2 years, and am now feeling like I'm just pissing my money away there paying rent (I'm a massage therapist in ontario). I'll give my notice in 2 weeks and hopefully finish up there at the end of Sept, if if owner doesn't give me the boot right away (she's vindictive like that).

  • Add me to the feeling huge and uncomfortable list too 😅
We spent the weekend trying to get life re-situated before my husband went back to work yesterday after being gone all summer then vacation. New car battery, lots of laundry and going back to our house after I spent the last month ish at my moms house. And naturally I’ve been a shit show the whole time pretty much lol. I left my camera battery charger at our hotel on vacation. Sat in traffic on the way home yesterday so was late on some sewing/picture deadlines…then yesterday morning my mom texted me that I had left my sewing machine at her house. Soooo I packed up the kids and drove back over now today we drive home. Again. It’s about 3 hours so super great way to waste a whole day basically 🤦🏻‍♀️

Once I get home I’m going to spend the rest of the week cleaning house so I can decorate for fall this weekend 🙌
  • @lilyfox I wish I could WFH. and broken toes hurt! One time MH accidentally kicked my bare foot toe with his steel toed boots and I still shudder to think about it. I had trouble walking for weeks.
  • @elksamm Love the colors! The nursery will be so cute!

@kcf19 Glad to hear you're all negative, and yeah - the stress regarding Covid spreading around day care is getting to be a lot amongst people I know. My kid coughed a couple times today and my first thought just goes automatically "there", you know? It sucks.

@lilyfox Oh no! Hope your toe feels better soon. That's the worst. I think I stub a toe on my kid's high chair (which we don't even need anymore, but have nowhere to put it) like every other day.

@sarah_is_pregnant Have a safe drive! We bring a portable potty for the kids for every road trip and resign myself to the fact that I may need to use it, haha. So far I haven't gotten up the nerve - I just find a Starbucks and try to be as careful as possible. Yes, I'm a baby  :D  And congrats on the resignation! That sounds kinda weird, but I'm guessing you're leaving because you're feeling unsatisfied and/or are ready for a change, and that can be exciting and somewhat of a relief. I hope it all works out well and you're able to stay on through September.

@MrsJessS I just came back from Michaels with a ton of fall stuff, and decorating is my major plan for the next couple days too! Our weather outside here may not scream fall, but the inside of my house will  B)
  • @lilyfox Ugh, I hope your toe feels better soon! That sucks.

@sarah_is_pregnant I admire your stamina - I would have to get out of the car to stretch my legs and I am not very agile in peeing in a cup, lol! Have a safe drive.

So I posted in the Ultrasound thread that our anatomy scan was great and just have to go back next week for some follow up images since baby girl wasn't super cooperative. And then I see this in my care summary on the portal:

"Suspected Fetal Abnormality Affecting Management of Mother; Medical Examination for Suspected Condition; Maternal Obesity Complicating Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Puerperium, Antepartum"

UM...wtf?? They told me everything was, and I quote, "beautiful." So I have a frantic message out to the doctor's office...
  • @fifilala516 WHAT. How could they not mention any of this to you when you were there? When they didn't see my baby's nasal bone they sent me to the genetic counselor. Yeah, you are definitely owed some explanations here. Sending hugs. Try to stay calm - easier said than done, I know.  <3
  • @Lisa3379 If you can believe it, that's their BILLING CODE for the anatomy scan. What in the actual F. At least give me a warning! They re-confirmed that the scan was normal, thank God, but I legit had a panic attack.
  • @fifilala516

That's INSANE. Well, I'm glad you got an explanation and everything is ok!
  • @lisa3379 I can't be the first mom to have seen that and freaked out! Unless other people aren't as eagle-eyed? Either way, it was a lot of undue stress but I'm glad they re-confirmed everything was normal! Sheesh.
  • @lisa3379 I can't be the first mom to have seen that and freaked out! Unless other people aren't as eagle-eyed? Either way, it was a lot of undue stress but I'm glad they re-confirmed everything was normal! Sheesh.
Whaaaat. That’s terrible and needs to change. Glad everything is okay, but come on dr office!
  • @fifilala516 omg that is insane! I can’t imagine!!

@lisa3379 I haven’t bought new decor in a long while so I’m very excited to do some shopping. It’s getting chilly here overnight and I’m so happy about it.

Annnnnd to update my adventures in chaos, husband got put on a 24 hour job tomorrow. Plus I have to renew my military id except they aren’t taking walk ins like he was told and they next appointment is 9 days after my old one expires. Sooo I’m staying w my mom until Thursday and husband is driving here because there is a small ID card office near here that can get me an appointment then.
I had to go get my kids some clothes because I packed one change for them and zero chilly weather clothes 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I guess I’m not cleaning this week 😂😂😂
  • @fifilala516 omg wtf. I'd have lost my mind too! What an inappropriate billing code lol.

  • @lisa3379 @sarah_is_pregnant @kcf19 @MrsJessS Thinking about it, they probably do that in instances of those who need follow-up sonograms, so they can say on the next one "abnormality not detected" or whatever. This way they can get reimbursed for the scan twice. It makes sense to me in those terms, but they should seriously re-word it or warn the mother.
  • @fifilala516 Yeah, they really should let moms know about that. Craziness.

@MrsJessS That's so hectic! Girl, you need a serious break. At least your weather is getting cooler, that's gotta be nice!

@Lisa3379 it gets better 😂 after he got to work today he found out he doesn’t actually have to do the 24 hour day because they have a memorial to go to today. So we had to reschedule the ID appointment 🤦🏻‍♀️ But yeah. The weather is a huge improvement
  • I am absolutely sick over what has just happened to women's health care rights in Texas. That's all. I wasn't planning on political organizing until after the baby was born, but I think I need to start again.
  • @Lisa3379 I am with you. I am legit worried what this could mean for women's rights in other states and the nation as a whole. Scary stuff.
  • @lisa3379 @lilyfox It's absolutely horrifying and disgusting.
  • Yea on the feeling huge. And maybe a little bit of a waddle here. We drove out to Oklahoma to visit famiky this week. Our hotel room is on the 2nd floor with no elevator. After climbing the stairs I habe to stop and catch my breath. It's even worse if I'm carrying my 8mo old daughter in her carrier.
  • I’m on my honeymoon and ordered an Arnold Palmer...which I THOUGHT was just iced tea and lemonade....well I got it and had like 4 sips before I realized there must have been some kind of liquor in it. Omg I am freaked out!!!! 😢😢😢
  • @chelswcu12 Wait, aren’t Arnold Palmers supposed to just be iced tea and lemonade?! They are totally not supposed to have booze! Anyway, I wouldn’t be too freaked out, 4 sips aren’t going to hurt. But hopefully you got a refund!
  • @Lisa3379 I thought that’s all
they were too! Luckily they didn’t end up charging us for it, but it of course freaked me out! 😞 I had 3-4 pretty decent sips 😞
