  FWIW, as an RN, I don’t think it’s a great idea to have anyone but a trained sonographer or ultrasound technician performing ultrasounds for this very reason.  I’m also not a fan of at-home Doppler use because we get panicked moms calling the unit when they can’t find the baby’s heartbeat, but it ends up just being due to user error. We also don’t recommend more ultrasounds than medically necessary. There aren’t concrete studies showing the effects of fetal development and long-term ultrasound exposures but there is enough evidence to make the great majority of OBs and CNMs discourage any unnecessary ultrasound imaging during pregnancy.

  Wow I didn’t know that, I haven’t used it much. But I definitely don’t want to take my chances, thank you so much for the advice!

  @weatheash No worries whatsoever! I know we are all looking for reassurances that everything is okay, in whatever ways we can. I just want to make sure you’re staying as mentally healthy as possible during the insanity that is the first tri! Not all of us are having symptoms— mine at the moment is just fatigue— but trust the blood work for now and wait for your first MD appointment for anything else ❤️
