Monday BF 8/23

What's grinding your gears lately? 

I have two. First, I cannot kick this stupid cold. It's much better than it was, but my throat still tickles so that I have to cough a little to clear it, and I'm still blowing my nose more than usual. My anatomy scan is tomorrow morning, and while I have a negative Covid test from 7 days ago, I might pick up some rapid tests just in case? Although I'm pretty sure this is just a long recovery from the previous cold... ugh. The second is the freaking fires. Luckily we haven't been too impacted by the smoke, but my in-laws have been living in smoky conditions for like 6 weeks or something ridiculous, and it's getting worse. Looks like they'll be shacking up with us until the smoke gets better, but they have these 2 big dogs, one of which is not great around kids, so the dogs have to stay outside or in the basement? I mean, I'm more than happy to have them stay - I like them a lot and it would be so much better for them to get out of the smoke... I just wish we didn't have a distinct season of fire.

    I’m sorry about your cold symptoms and the stress from navigating visitors. I hope you enjoy seeing your babe tomorrow! 
    Grinding my gears lately is this GD pubic bone pain and no end in sight to this pandemic 😔.

    I think the better question would be what ISN'T grinding my gears. I have little to no patience for anything. I also have anatomy scan this week. And DH cant go. Because we dont have a babysitter for the youngest two. And per covid they cant be in the ultrasound room. Also. DH said he doesnt mind if I found out the gender. If I do how in the world am i gonma keep it a secret for 5 more.months?

    @Lisa3379 I hope your cold gets better soon! Ugh I hate how wild fires are just a season now, hope those clear up!

    @katepattsea FOR REAL on no end it sight for this pandemic. I’m hoping that with the vaccine getting approval and insurance companies being able to deny payment for covid medical expenses for unvaccinated patients that more people will get vaccinated. 

    @as@AshleyGemini24 I don’t think I could keep that a secret for 5 months, I would for sure let it slip :P

    My BF is that we got a new car last weekend and yesterday the garage door didn’t open all the way and it completely shattered our rear window 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Mine is that I got a new student added to my roster this morning (school starts tomorrow). I now have 8 students out of 23 who have an IEP. That's 1/3 😳. This grade level has a lot to begin with, but I have significantly more than my teaching partner. Thankfully I have a student teacher for the 1st semester, but my head is spinning thinking about what that's going to look like this year.  Plus they're going to have a long-term sub for 2ish months. 

    I know it will be a great class/year, but woofda.

    @katepattsea ditto on the pandemic frustration. There are some days where it doesn't bother me too much (like days where I'm just at home busy and not thinking about it), but more days where I'm just pissed off. 

    @AshleyGemini24 I'm sorry that your husband can't be with you during the scan - mine can't either. That would be hard to keep that secret! I would totally slip up and say "he" or "she". 

    @elksamm Bummer about the car!  :s

    @magalina_h Oh man, that's hard - a lot to keep track of. What grade do you teach again? Hopefully your student teacher is awesome! I had a student teacher once, and it was almost more work to have them helping me than if it was just me.

    @lisa3379 I teach 4th grade. So far my student teacher is awesome! She has been great at anticipating what needs to be done and just does it! 🙌

    @elksamm oh no!! that's so crazy. I hope you can get it fixed quickly.  But to be honest, i have no words, I would be a hot mess if that happened to me.  I don't handle situations like that well.
